He was always a companion player to some much more recognizable and goofy-acting colleagues, namely Adam Sandler and Chris Farley. I don't know, I recognized him right away. I'll admit the big applause he got alerted me that he was somebody. I'll also admit It took me a bit to remember his name. Anyway, I agree people have been complaining about the quality of SNL for decades, and it's always been hit and miss, even with the original cast. I always manage to stick through and watch the whole thing somehow. Weekend Update seems very stale to me though, it's been going on for 50 years. 4 Link to comment

However, I figured that was part of the joke and the costume was constructed to make it look like it didn't quite fit him. He looked pretty good to me when he came out for his opening monologue. Also, according to the googles, Gladiator 2 was filmed between June 2023 and January 2024. Paul Mescal has probably stopped trying to maintain the physique he needed for that role. (Yes, I've given this too much thought.) 2 1 Link to comment

ASpring1900 December 9 Share December 9 I didn't watch the Dana/David era of SNL (joined during the Ferrell/O'Teri/Shannon years) so this was my first real encounter with the Church Lady—though I know of the character. I really like Dana and am glad he's been featured a lot this season. As for David Spade, I’ve adored him since my college days of Just Shoot Me reruns. (David and Dana have a podcast together, right?) Was Trisha promoting something? I've only seen her once or twice in my Instragram reels scroll. Link to comment

Pete Martell Thursday at 06:52 PM Share Thursday at 06:52 PM Surprised to see a cut sketch appear so late in the week. I wish this had gotten into the episode. Paul is fun here. Now that one has shown up I'm going to list the other cut sketches (I'm summarizing what was said on Saturday Night Network's hot take show): Cut from Update - Longfellow talking about being bad with money. At the end Devon shows up as Uncle Sam and we learn Longfellow gives him a 40% cut. Cut sketches: A New York animated piece cut from the Bill Burr show, I think with Bowen and Longfellow doing voices. WOMEN ARE QUEENS: Heidi can't get a word in with Paul, Kenan, Bowen and James as the panel, and Marcello as Ruth Bader Spinsburg. Mikey is also in it. The dress report says this was Paul's best work of the night. (I'm guessing this is based on the whole online flap where Paul and other guys were accused of speaking over Saorise Ronan on the Graham Norton Show). LOIS LANE'S ROOMMATE: Chloe (the roommate) interrupts a rooftop convo between Superman (Paul) and Lois (Sarah). Mikey hops in as a villain. Chloe does not know how to pronounce Superman (Chloe tried to get a version of this on in John Mulaney's episode and I think had originally tried it a few seasons ago). 2 1 Link to comment

And I'm not just saying that because I'm also one quarter Irish. 2 1 Link to comment
