paigow December 3 Author Share December 3 One of the scientists is a U.S. citizen... Government sanctioned murder without due process would be problematic - unless it was a rogue CIA unit of elite assassins... SeanBug December 8 Share December 8 I was tearing up a little when they got back to base after that firefight. That was scary. There's a reason air support is called Angels on our Shoulders. Sheridan should stick to stuff like this and less family psycho dramatics. 1 Link to comment https://forums.primetimer.com/topic/150930-s02e08-the-compass-points-home/#findComment-8527577
dwmarch December 8 Share December 8 Those Delta snipers were the MVPs. I have a feeling they were a tribute to Delta Force snipers Shughart and Gordon whom we know from Black Hawk Down. Speaking of Delta, did we get a tiny reunion between Cruz and the Delta guy who beat her up early in the first season? Loved that incredible, cinematic battle. The CIA has an optimistic definition of "open borders" where Iran is concerned. Yes, you can roll in with a small force and ruin the day of a convoy. But that door slammed shut pretty fast and would have stayed that way if not for the timely intervention of an airstrike. 1 Link to comment https://forums.primetimer.com/topic/150930-s02e08-the-compass-points-home/#findComment-8527793

Snazzy Daisy December 8 Share December 8 Well, that’s an action-packed but lackluster season finale. It turns out the real Lioness for S02 is Pablo Carrillo. He completes the mission. 👏🏻 The best way to describe S02 is INCOHESIVE. There’s a massive drop in quality of the writing, narratives and character development. S02 puts more emphasis on Special Ops than the Lioness itself. The “epic” battle in S02 finale is a perfect opportunity for Taylor Sheridan to cosplay as a macho, fearless sniper. I don’t need this. I already have Eddie Redmayne as the Jackal. I hope Josie won’t be returning for season 3, if renewed. Her arc is over. 1 Link to comment https://forums.primetimer.com/topic/150930-s02e08-the-compass-points-home/#findComment-8527837
paigow December 9 Author Share December 9 The team is going to have a lot of turnover. Everybody survived, but some look like they would be declared unfit for combat. Joe might keep Carrillo as a permanent pilot... Link to comment https://forums.primetimer.com/topic/150930-s02e08-the-compass-points-home/#findComment-8528295
keke23 December 9 Share December 9 Next season send Joe's family away on a vacation abroad or something for the whole season. No point in having that family tension angle take up time where they could be focusing the story telling on the mission. I kept forgetting what the actual objective was throughout this season. mythoughtis December 10 Share December 10 There was an objective? Wasn’t it something to do with who kidnapped the congresswoman? I lost track. There’s too many big names in this show and not enough plot. Link to comment https://forums.primetimer.com/topic/150930-s02e08-the-compass-points-home/#findComment-8529178

I lost the plot thread as well. On 12/8/2024 at 4:42 PM, Snazzy Daisy said: Well, that’s an action-packed but lackluster season finale. It turns out the real Lioness for S02 is Pablo Carrillo. I enjoyed season 2, but I would've enjoyed 1) more character development and 2) a more straightforward plot. Zoe Saldana as the lead is compelling, but I don't see her growing or changing at all. She's still the balls-to-the-wall fearless soldier she was at the start of Season 1, even after a near-death experience. I would have liked to see her evaluate her choices, or even her feelings about her husband and children. I feel like I never see her be vulnerable. In fact, no one had a real character arc. Which is okay if this were a procedural (Like Law & Order). But it isn't. It's an 8 episode action-drama. The way the scene after the battle was filmed will little sound except for the score, I thought someone would die for sure. It doesn't look like anyone did, though. 1 Link to comment https://forums.primetimer.com/topic/150930-s02e08-the-compass-points-home/#findComment-8531412
KeithJ December 16 Share December 16 Overall I really enjoyed this season. The home life of Joe didn't bother me as much as it did in season 1. I do agree though that the plot seemed all over the place. Congresswoman kidnapped, rescue, go punish the cartel leader that did it, find kids instead, try to rescue the kids, kids die via suicide bomb, now two Chinese nuclear scientists are headed to Iran and we're going to kill them because we have borders and Iran has borders? And, somewhere in all of this, the US installed a puppet cartel leader? I really don't see Joe riding a desk in season 3 so I'm sure she'll be back out in the field. I liked Carrillo and hope to see her back next season. One thing I do wish is that they didn't wrap up the final episode so quickly. I guess we can assume that the entire team survived but some confirmation would have been nice. 1 Link to comment https://forums.primetimer.com/topic/150930-s02e08-the-compass-points-home/#findComment-8534149
