Morrigan2575 November 26, 2024 Share November 26, 2024 I couldn't find a thread for the movie, please merge if one exists already. I watched it this afternoon, theater was reasonably full for a Thursday matinee. First thing I will say is the songs are not as good as the first and a few times I felt like the songs were from Frozen more than Moana. I worried Lin Manuel Miranda had lost his touch but, it turns out he wasn't involved and it shows. The story itself was good, normally that's a let down in the sequel but, overall it felt like a good continuation of Moana's journey. The new characters weren't great, two grew on me even if I couldn't be bothered to learn their names. Quirky "tech" girl was very annoying and just didn't really add anything the story for me. The villain of the story was fairly thin but I enjoyed his intermediary she had depth which worked. The best part was, IMO the expansion on the Kakamora they were fun in the first movie and I liked them even more in Moana 2. Overall it was good, not as good as the first and certainly not something that was desperately needed but, I'd watch it again on streaming. There is a mid-credits scene so don't rush out during the credits 2 1 Link to comment https://forums.primetimer.com/topic/150849-moana-2-2024/

Browncoat December 1, 2024 Share December 1, 2024 I saw this this afternoon -- well, afternoon in New Zealand. it was pretty cool to see it in New Zealand! I enjoyed it quite a lot, although I think the first one is better. There was a lot of exposition, reminding us what happened in the first one, and that felt a little like filler. And there was one entity that seemed out of place, as in the animation even seemed different. Other than that, I did like it -- it was simply gorgeous, and the songs were good, too. There's an extra scene too, in the credits. Link to comment https://forums.primetimer.com/topic/150849-moana-2-2024/#findComment-8521641

The music was noticeably worse, especially when they tried to squeeze in random Lin Manuel rap breaks. It was such a contrast when they played the reprise of “We Know the Way” from the first film. I did enjoy “What Could be Better than This?” 1 Link to comment https://forums.primetimer.com/topic/150849-moana-2-2024/#findComment-8521676

Looks like he was writing the music for Mufasa, which seems dumb, he should have worked on Moana 2 since he's directly associated with the first movie, they could have found someone else to score Mufasa...unless he wanted to do something new and not a sequel? 1 Link to comment https://forums.primetimer.com/topic/150849-moana-2-2024/#findComment-8543020
