AnnaCody November 17 Share November 17 Billy Bob Thornton has a daughter and an ex-wife just like in Goliath. I see lots of good lines coming!!! Looking forward to how he will relate to his son. Watching E1 now. Predict another winner for AMZN Prime Video. 1 1 Link to comment
Joimiaroxeu November 18 Share November 18 I'm watching this despite the disappointment of Taylor Sheridan's final season of Yellowstone. Mainly here for BBT though Jon Hamm is a draw too. BBT's opening dialogue had Sheridan's usual shtick all over it. Nobody delivers soliloquys like that IRL. Jon Hamm's Texas accent is interesting. Dakota Loving. Sure, that's a Texas name. Surprised Sheridan didn't name him Montana. The actress playing BBT's character's daughter was not passing for 17. Not unless she's supposed to be a 17-year old who's been, as they say in Texas, rode hard and put up wet. The teen daughter should've known better. Dakota had too many other options who weren't ever going to tell him no. WTAF?! I doubt anyone could survive such an explosion but I hope those two actors aren't gone already because their characters got killed at the end of the first episode. I was looking forward to seeing them. 1 Link to comment
Snazzy Daisy November 18 Author Share November 18 Tommy Norris is an unflappable fixer. He knows how to use his words to keep himself safe. He cuts right to the chase. The “Halliburton” word has sealed the deal with Jimenez. 🙄 Angela getting dolled-up just to have FaceTime with her ex husband is so cliché. Honey, the extra effort makes you look desperate. Michelle Randolph is not believable as a 17yo Ainsley. The actress is 27yo IRL. Being involved in the rig explosion is a startling way for Cooper to start a career. 1 Link to comment
Joimiaroxeu November 18 Share November 18 ^^^I gotta do a better job of paying attention to the characters' names. The only one that stuck with me was Ainsley's boyfriend. Link to comment

topanga November 20 Share November 20 I watched this episode on a whim because of the cast. I wasn't sure if I'd like a show about the Texas oil industry, but it's really interesting so far. BBT is always good, but I wish he wasn't quite so unflappable and invincible. He doesn't have to be an anti-hero, but I wish I saw more of his vulnerabilities. Oops, Snazzy Daisy beat me to it. I like this except for the language--excessive F-word use. But that seems to be the norm in streaming these days. Billy Bob Thornton is carrying the show. It reminds me to Sopranos. There were a lot of excellent supporting characters, but it was a star vehicle for James Gandolfini. Tommy's ex-wife irritates me.
