Bruinsfan September 21, 2014 Share September 21, 2014 Some things just shouldn't be in 3D CGI. Link to comment

Rick Kitchen September 22, 2014 Share September 22, 2014 So apparently the fact that this Popeye doesn't smoke a pipe or have a tattoo is controversial. Link to comment
Kromm September 22, 2014 Author Share September 22, 2014 So apparently the fact that this Popeye doesn't smoke a pipe or have a tattoo is controversial. The lack of the tat is bullshit. It helped peg him as a sailor, because the hat by itself arguably isn't enough. The pipe leaving is fine, I think. Link to comment
Kel Varnsen September 22, 2014 Share September 22, 2014 The lack of the tat is bullshit. It helped peg him as a sailor, because the hat by itself arguably isn't enough. The pipe leaving is fine, I think. The 3d animation I am ok with, mostly because a cartoon like Popeye used all different types of animation back in the day. Getting rid of the Tattoo seems weird. As for the pipe, I am sort of ok, other than the fact that the Popeye song always ended with a "toot-toot" and the sound would come out of his pipe. Although I guess the toot-toot can just as easily be the horn on a ship. Link to comment
Spartan Girl September 22, 2014 Share September 22, 2014 Bleh. This might actually be worse than the Robin Williams movie. Link to comment
Bruinsfan September 23, 2014 Share September 23, 2014 Hey, if nothing else that had the single best bit of casting in film history: Shelley Duvall as Olive Oyl. Link to comment
Spartan Girl September 23, 2014 Share September 23, 2014 I actually thought Robin Williams doing Popeye was dead on. And yes Shelley Duvall was perfect. I heard Gilda Radner was originally in talks to do that role and while that would have been great too, but oh well. Link to comment
