Spartan Girl October 24, 2024 Share October 24, 2024 Mom and I knew it was Laverne right from the beginning because my mom always watches E! Red Carpet specials and recognized a gesture that Laverne always makes with her hands. 6 Link to comment https://forums.primetimer.com/topic/150209-s12e05-barbie-night/#findComment-8489118
LakeGal October 24, 2024 Share October 24, 2024 I was quite sure it was Laverne just from what they said in the clue. I was surprised I was actually right for once. 4 Link to comment https://forums.primetimer.com/topic/150209-s12e05-barbie-night/#findComment-8489450
Taeolas October 28, 2024 Share October 28, 2024 I had expected Chess Piece to go further, but I was wrong. She did a good showing so it was a harder choice. Really, none of the songs appealed to me that much so picking "good" and "bad" ones was a challenge. Goo and Bluebell both gave a strong performances and I think that edged them out. My initial take on her was somewhat right, though I hadn't realized she was actually transgender. Her clue having a barbie facing away from the camera, and her statements that "I have a Barbie made jsut for me" made me assume they were using her actual Barbie for the clue, and I was right. I still think Wasp will take this one, but don't think the DingDongBell will be used now. Which would put 2 men in the finals this season. I think they really want a male singer to win this year, since they've had s streak of female winners lately. 1 Link to comment https://forums.primetimer.com/topic/150209-s12e05-barbie-night/#findComment-8492663
Meedis October 28, 2024 Share October 28, 2024 (edited) Last week I was thinking possibly Billy Porter for the "Chess Piece". This week Mr. Meedis immediately honed in on Laverne Cox since he is an owner of the Laverne Cox Barbie and knew right off that the Barbie doll displayed in the clue was the Laverne Cox version. We both knew that "Chess Piece" would be the eliminated contestant since it seemed like the background singers were doing most of the work in the song and Cox just seemed to be wailing along (though she moved and danced to the music well). Longshot guess...wondering if the Wasp could be Jussee Smollet. An appearance on Masked Singer could be part of his redemption arc. Just saw a commercial for MS and it shows the Ding Dong bell. 1 Link to comment https://forums.primetimer.com/topic/150209-s12e05-barbie-night/#findComment-8496825
