Chandler and Brandon

Finally we had a dance that Len would approve of. Not a lot of messing about, right into the old school that seemlessly moved into Cha Cha with a great unexpected and sassy costume reveal. Such great Run DMC costumes -All elements of performance were working on all cylinders. Chandler moved right into the cheeky dancing. Nice forward locks, spin turns, New Yorker etc. she could probably get more grounded still but it was an impressive dance.  I feel that Brandon has shed his "crap" choreographer mantle. Three dances in and his work is getting more and more exciting to watch. As I've said previously Brandon is doing amazing, but the small fanbase for Chandler will prevent them from being there at the end. On a dance show it's all about PR not dance. When they go I go because they obviously entertained and slayed. I I was bored until we got to them.

Chandler Kinney comes in with a HUGE advantage. She is a professionally trained dancer - since the age of 3 in tap, ballet, contemporary, jazz, hip hop.  A Ringer.

DWTS is supposed to be an amateur contestant.  That's why I am rooting for someone like Joey Graziadei.  I don't watch The Bachelor.  But he is fun to watch on DWTS and has some really good moves - for someone who has no dancing, performing experience.  And that's what DWTS is supposed to be about.

But Joey is a fanbase ringer. Chandler is a great amateur ballroom student. She only has her dancing., she doesn't have the legions of Bachelor or Olympic fans. And her dancing is excellent except it's not ballroom. What makes me happy is how well her ballroom is coming together. There have been lots of well trained dancers on this show who tend to dance like well trained contemporary or jazz dancers but they don't get the technique for ballroom right. People like former pro Allison Holker, great contemporary dancer not so good at Latin or Ballroom

So I vote for great dancing.

Brooks Nadar is so pretty and I love her hair. I think she does really want to improve and do better, but I'm not seeing her as a dancer. Gleb is doing some pretty simple choreography, which she struggles to nail. She's super pretty though! Even though she's like 15 years younger than him, they match in looks. But she's definitely 27 in her maturity. No problem being 27 and acting 27. I can't imagine if she was paired with Brandon what would happen. LOL

Gleb seems so annoyed by her. He's working this as much as he can.

The Soul train dancers are some of the best I've seen. So good and their bodies are so effortless with the music and their partners and their bodies. They know how to do everything effortlessly. Makes it look easy! But they are dancing with other professionals, so they can really shine.

I love how comfortably Dwight is hanging his arm over Daniella. They are so fun together, and she's great at relaxing her partner and building that trust and connection. Without having to make it a storyline!

I find them pushing their showmance to be utterly cringe.   A successful showmance leaves audiences wondering. It is not announced.

Totally agree!  The producers or other powers-that-be are trying harder than ever to make showmance happen.

During the judges’ commentary for Dwight’s dance was the first time this season I’ve heard serious boos from the audience (though I’ve ff’d through some panel comments so might’ve missed).  I have NOT missed that, which in prior seasons had really seemed to follow every remotely critical comment from a judge.

Overall, a great theme show.  I was glad to see a couple of former Soul Train dancers featured along with Don Cornelius’ son.  Derek’s segment on the music was good too, though I had the opposite problem of some here - the music drowned out his commentary.

I thought Sasha and Jenn's dance was sexier than Brooks and Gleb.  I agree with CAI and Rosie. Brooke has beautiful lines and she's flexible. So there are some pretty pictures that are made. There's no flow though. It might be Gleb since I don't think he's a good choreographer. However, I've read that Brandon is not a good choreographer and he's killing it this season. I did think Brandon choreographed well for Tinashe. He's also had some really good rumbas. I specifically remember Kenya Moore's.

Stephen needs to slow down. This was Illona's best dance so far. I don't know why Dwight couldn't rehearse but that was not good. Phaedra's quickstep was a hot mess and I don't know why she got a 30. It's especially weird since she was the first one and the judges usually score lower for that. I probably like Joey second best after Chandler.

Both of the last two shows were pre-empted due to Hurricane Milton coverage. Who was eliminated on this night?

No one.  They did a double on Metal night.
