Spartan Girl September 20 Share September 20 (edited) The bomb sequence was BRUTAL, despite not showing it actually happening. The white out and aftermath was more than enough. Poor Yoseb. Well, everybody’s got standards and even Hansu wouldn’t stoop as low as to bribe the university for Noa. But he can still go fuck himself for insulting Isak to Yoseb, then having the cruelty to hold a mirror up to his burned face just to show how much control he has over the family. Also, Sunja isn’t “yours,” you dick! Wasnt expecting the time skip. Already miss little Mozasu. 😭😭😭 Edited September 21 by Spartan Girl 1 Link to comment
TimWil September 21 Share September 21 Brilliant episode. I do miss the absolutely wonderful kid who played Mozasu. Definitely one of my all time favorite performances by a child actor ever. I’m fairly sure now that Noa is actually gay and in love with his former school nemesis Nimura. It’s been hinted at very subtly since they got to know each other in the countryside. That tofu girl is quite adorable, though. I hope to god Noa doesn’t commit suicide. 1 Link to comment
aghst September 21 Share September 21 It was a boss move, to shut Yoseb's yapping without saying a word, just holding up the mirror to him. OK, the older Noa looks goofy and older Mozasu is more chill, low energy. It kind of looks like Noa is freezing up in the exam room. Meanwhile Kim and Youngchee are cockblocked by Yoseb making it back, not terribly a pleasant man after his unfortunate injuries. You'd think he might be just grateful to be alive? Speaking of cockblocks, in 1989, it's Naomi who's foiling Solomon's plot to get revenge on Abe. Solomon's colleagues making sexist remarks, might as well have said "control your woman." She has to know what Abe did to Solomon, right? Is she working her own career angle? Still in sexist Japan, woman subsumes her ambitions to her man's. Is Hansu passing himself off as Japanese? All those men were openly racist -- too bad all the Koreans didn't go back home. Apparently they expect Hansu to support this new nationalist party and politician aiming to return Japan to their glory, you know, where they were threatened to be bombed back to the stone age and had to surrender, which is probably the greatest humiliation for these nationalist types. TimWil September 21 Share September 21 Hah, Yoseb wasn’t a terribly pleasant man before his unfortunate injuries! In fact he was a tiresome, sanctimonious a-hole. He did manage to show a bit of compassion toward the young floor sweeper in the factory, at least. Link to comment
Haleth September 28 Share September 28 It's too bad the family couldn't have continued to make a life in the country. They all seemed happier there and the boys were thriving. Link to comment
