Crashcourse July 17 Share July 17 Catherine was born in Italy, later became the French queen, but why does she (and the rest of the cast) speak with a British accent? 2 Link to comment

Because in reality they are speaking in French. The English is because the production is for an English audience, so it’s for our benefit only. Since it’s British actors, they just use their natural accents (if it was an Italian production for Italy, they would be speaking in Italian), and we use our imaginations that they are actually speaking in French. I mean, it’s France, they wouldn’t be speaking to each other in English with French accents. 😁 3 Link to comment

But I still wanted more. 2 Link to comment
Haleth October 11 Share October 11 I just read The Rival Queens by Nancy Goldstone, a biography of Catherine and Margot. Man, that was one messed up relationship. There is way more to their stories than was shown in the series, but I was surprised at how much of the series was true-ish (tweaked to fit the narrative). I'm sorry it's been cancelled. 2 Link to comment
