Snazzy Daisy May 2 Author Share May 2 Reena’s voice over at the beginning has confirmed that Kelly killed her. But we don’t know about Warren’s level of involvement in all of this, yet. Kelly is clearly unhinged. Stealing Suman’s jhumkas is expected. Am just surprised she doesn’t kill Smooch. This is a grim episode. What happened in 1997 is so hard to watch and it makes me dislike Reena. What she did to Manjit was cruel and heartless. She didn’t think about the consequences of her words - emotionally, psychologically and socially. Now we know why Suman seemed a bit distant with Reena. The need for acceptance is displayed in both timelines. It’s a parallel. It’s generational. The question is - how far would they go? Reena’s grandparents were willing to convert to Jehovah’s Witnesses for some sense of belonging while Reena was willing to spread heinous lies about her own dad for freedom. This episode has shown and established what kind of man Manjit is and how flawed Reena was. The absence of Cam and Rebecca doesn’t bother me. 8 Link to comment
millennium May 2 Share May 2 I found it grotesque to watch that little teenager Reena -- a mere child in terms of life experience -- reciting the ugly imagery of gangsta rap at the beginning. Manjit was an arrogant prick in this episode, especially in the way he so insensitively condescended to those girls about their lives, thinking all the while that he had a right and duty to say what he did oblivious to the pain he was causing. He was so convinced of his own rightness that he couldn't even stick to the deal about the pizza. Reena is an awful person, too. Who needs to fit in so bad they would accuse their own father of something so heinous? Not that Kelly and Jo were angels, either. I was enraged as they schemed to steal (or perhaps hide) Suman's jewelry and otherwise screw up Reena's house (glad Smooch was okay). They took it even *after* Suman explained to them how special it was to her family Another thing this episode did is remind of how exhausted I am with racial animus. Seeing "GO HOME" spray-painted on the Virks' garage, the expression on Mrs. Ellard's face almost tripping over herself to get out of Suman's house, the way the CMC girls were looking down their noses at Reena and her parents ... Why must people be so awful? (Personally I would love to go over to Kalinda Sharma's house for pizza.) 1 Link to comment

Straycat80 May 2 Share May 2 This was a hard episode to watch. Those teen girls were awful. If they had walked into my closet and invaded my private space I would have told them to GTFO, not like Suman who was too nice. I’m just glad Kelly didn’t kill the bird. I hope she’s rotting in jail somewhere. I didn’t miss the Rebecca/Cam storyline line. It’s a moot point anyway, not true. I’m glad they focused on the victim and her family which is more important. 7 Link to comment
tennisgurl May 2 Share May 2 I knew the false accusation was coming because I know a bit about the real life case, but it was so hard to watch. I get the need to fit in, especially for teenagers, but that's such a horrible thing to do to your own father, I don't think she even really understands the full consequences of what she did. She didn't want to live at home, so she came up with a reason so that she wouldn't and didn't think what that would mean for her family. Manjit isn't a perfect person but he is clearly someone who very much loves his family. I actually felt bad for Jo when Manjit was just going on and on about how awful her life is and how she was abandoned, like thanks for the reminder I almost forgot, but you also see his warmth towards his family and how much he gave up for the woman he loves. I kind of missed Cam and Rebecca, but not very much. I'm way more interested in the actual people involved in the real story than their made up subplot, even if the actresses are both doing great work. 4 Link to comment
Zaffy May 3 Share May 3 I do not like what they are doing with Reena. Maybe she was a weak person, maybe mentally unstable, but at the end she was the one brutally murdered. She was the victim. Where this show is going? That victims are also responsible? That there is no black and white? I am sorry, but there is definitely black and white in cold blooded murders. Link to comment

Why must people be so awful? (Personally I would love to go over to Kalinda Sharma's house for pizza.) In my experience I’ve never known of racism against Indians. There are so many Indian families I grew up with and also live in the area now. We all went to their houses and nobody acted like Kelly’s mother did in this. Of course Reena doesn’t deserve to be murdered in any way but I feel less empathy towards here after she accused her father of something so horrible. I like Cam but didn’t miss the story line between her and Rebecca since I feel it’s so forced nowadays just to make sure all gender, race, sexually orientation aspects are covered.
