Amanda or Dave Cameron could’ve worked just fine, but the Jonas Brothers? No.

Cristin Milioti, would have probably been awesome, because she is awesome in everything. But playing Elphaba might have meant missing out on being in The Penguin, which is a net loss for me as a viewer.

Grande has almost no acting experience and Erivo has lots.

you might quibble over the quality of Grande's acting, but she has been acting since at least 2010.  so that is more than "almost no acting experience" in my book.  I remember her from Victorious (because i have kids).

My kids used to watch those shows. And as dumb as they were I imagine they were boot camp for actors since they probably learn a ton. I just looked it up and Grande did 92 episodes of Victorious and Sam & Cat in like 4 years. I am just glad she didn't do that super annoying voice from those shows in Wicked.

I hate that Ari gets shit on like she hasn’t been around and acting before she was known as a singer .. she was a HUGE theatre kid/nerd .. no one handed these parts to either woman .. they have both paid their dues and worked for these roles .. hell Ari did more vocal lessons and acting lessons waaaaybefore in hopes of getting and being prepared for THIS audition before there was even whispers of them .. like she worked her ass off just like Cynthia
