In 2012, Dr. Macchiarini performs a breakthrough thoracic surgery, but some colleagues in Sweden question his science. In the present, Macchiarini operates on Hannah and becomes romantically involved with Benita, a news producer covering the surgery.

Available 12/21 on Peacock.

That was a great start! I'm impressed again by the cast they've assembled. I can see why so many people would've been taken in by Edgar Ramirez's character, but didn't expect Benita to get involved with him so early on. I hope Jack Davenport gets more to do.

The close-ups of the surgery were hard to watch, especially since the operation was on a child, but I don't think anything will be worse than the bone cracking sounds from last season.

It took me a while to get used to the time jumps, but it got easier about mid-way through. And nice work by returning director Jennifer Morrison.

A major red flag detected! 🚩

ANA: “So you’re basically tricking the body into thinking the implant is already a part of you.”

NATE: “How do you trick them? More specifically how does a synthetic cell create blood vessels, basal layers and fend-off bacteria?”

ANA: “How are the grafts transformed into living cells? How do they come alive?”

PAOLO: “It’s like magic.”

I cannot believe nobody dared to challenge Paolo’s ridiculous answer re how his biosynthetic trachea works. 🤦🏻‍♀️

I've followed this story for a long time.   Paolo got away with so much destruction and mayhem.   The idea that he could do what he did and that none of those supposed checks and balances worked is terrifying.

I think the cast is great.   I will say that I still do see the mom in This Is Us when I see Mandy Moore and Lenny Bruce when I see Luke Kirby.  Those characters were so iconic that my brain is not letting go of them.

Imagine if Paolo and Elizabeth Holmes ever got together. Creative minds come up with creative answers that most want to believe...even if they don't fully understand at the time.

Just watching this now as it is now on Showcase in Canada. Like the first season one,  hard to watch at times. I find my stomach dropping every time someone agrees to the surgery, particularly when it is elective.
i watched the real story on Dateline and I don’t understand how Benita could be so foolish. Nothing against Many Moore but she was miscast in this one.

Paolo was miscast.  Ramirez wasn't nearly good-looking enough to play Paolo. And no sex appeal.  And I say this having seen the real Paolo in several documentaries.  ERIC BANA (who played John Meehan in Dirty John) would have been perfect.

I have never understood when people kept saying Paolo was so sexy. And every time they said he looked like George Clooney I laughed out loud.  Maybe, if I am being generous, he's a Wish version Clooney.  I guess it is true that beauty truly is in the eye of the beholder.

To me, Ramirez has more charm and sexiness in his pinky than Paolo will ever have.
