S15.E04: Qualifiers 5

My thoughts as I watched:

I feel like we just started in the middle.

Did we really need a listing of every animal on that kid's farm?

I wonder what the temperature is there...seems like a lot of clouds from their breath. How cold is that water?

[text message comes in]

What does my boss want now? I'm on vacation! [I already changed today's vacation day to a half personal day this afternoon. Now he owes me another hour. He's lucky I like him.]

Then I watched the last 20 minutes or so while logged in to work to do something for a last minute audit request (for the audit that was supposed to be done last week, which is why I took this week off), so I was looking back and forth from the TV to the computer...but I don't think I missed a whole lot...

Copying & Pasting . . .

I’m going to be busy Monday nights, so I won’t be able to start a thread in a timely manner.

Heading into the holiday break, we see the future in 15-year-old Taylor Greene, and I am scared. She wound up finishing the course with minimal difficulty, backing up the hype from the older ninjas . . . and they’re ready to carve her likeness on a Mt. Ninjmore. One downside . . . you have to type “ninja” when Googling her. Otherwise, you end up with results for a different woman entirely.

Run of the night? A contest between Taylor’s run, Kaden finishing the fastest, and the “Nati Ninja” saving his season during the run-off with a one-handed grab on Bee Hive,

Highlight of the night, which you might have missed if you blinked

Flex LeBrek's husband was running and she was at home cheering for him.  The film showed a brief view of their rather new baby. A lovely picture of Momma and baby.  Husband didn't make it to the wall but was good enough to go forward.

Two things: Obstacle 2 was not the killer tonight as they watched last weeks and learned how to move to dismount it.

Once again the three girls shown at then end came from when I dozed off or somewhere and two competed in the run. You know, I used to hate calling young women "girls".  But the noun seems to fit here.

Rolled my eyes at the very end with the two women racing each other and either Matt or Akbar saying “I bet baby Greyson’s proud of his Momma!” Dude, that baby is a literal infant who has no idea what’s going on. It’s all lights, noise and excited energy around him. He’s not proud of his momma, he’s thinking about his next bottle/breast-feeding.

Reminds me of contestants on Americas Got Talent who yap about how they “want to show my kids what hard work can accomplish” or whatever, camera cuts to the kids toddling around in diapers, and I’m on my couch thinking “this would have a much bigger impact on your children if they were old enough to remember this and truly grasp what’s going on, the work you’ve put in, what it means to go through the to next round, etc.”

Maybe I’m just a bitter old hag?

Taylor Greene was great! I loved her shock and joy at hitting the buzzer.

In my recollection, they showed the runs of the first two female qualifiers. We didn’t see the third, or the two who were in the run-off.

I hadn't even heard that Flex and Chris were expecting!  Well, if they are recording next year's episodes now, too, my interest just plummeted even farther, if that's possible.  She is one of my favorite ninjas and I always watch her runs with interest.

I'm happy for them, of course, but that just makes this season (and maybe next?) more boring than ever. :(
