No wonder they are rushing Dr Singh when the cure is being promised, but doesn’t exist.  Yet the LM are aren’t letting Dr Singh research.  
 

I hope Bear can turn her new friend.

I'm rewatching Season 2 now in preparation for Season 3 and catching a lot of details I had missed originally (or maybe forgotten). The man they shot and dumped in the quarry was someone from Factory Town (the supposedly free town, not under Last Men control) who the townspeople had put in a quarantine tent because he had the Sick and was expected to die. When General Abbot came to town, he brought a vial that he said was the cure for the Sick, and to prove it he injected it into the man. The townspeople thought he was cured because his pinky stopped trembling (apparently the first and/or main sign of the Sick), and that was enough to get them to support Abbot and the Last Men. But in reality the injection was of the temporary treatment that Dr. Singh had been giving his wife on a regular basis, and Abbot knew that the effects would wear off soon. So he had his people take the guy away and, when they got far enough out of town, killed him and dumped him in the quarry so the townspeople wouldn't discover that Abbot had lied to them.
