Meredith Quill March 24, 2023 Share March 24, 2023 Quote In the extreme Alaskan wild, 16 survivalists compete for a chance to win a massive cash prize — but these lone wolves must be part of a team to win. Link to comment
IdEatThat March 25, 2023 Share March 25, 2023 Just finished watching all 8 episodes. Interesting way to end it. We were talking amongst ourselves at the beginning of the first episode. How much was the prize? Link to comment
LakeGal March 25, 2023 Share March 25, 2023 I watched this awhile ago. I just remember I really disliked Jill. I was so happy she did not win. 4 Link to comment
violet and green March 25, 2023 Share March 25, 2023 20 hours ago, IdEatThat said: How much was the prize? I million dollars in total, to share among the winning team. But have since discovered they could only get a maximum of 250,000 each, according to Javier. I suspect that was play money in the sack they were playing with, crazy otherwise. Really enjoyed the first eps, but the sabotage - even the first preview showing it at the end of an ep, and knowing it was coming - ruined it for me. I was just enjoying the survival aspect, the landscape, the weather, the difficulties, the human relationships and personality clashes. I would have happily watched all 8 episodes without a hint of the horrible energy and ugly 'drama' of Alpha's sabotage. So glad when Charlie won. And the wildlife! That harbour seal clocking the camera people on shore! 3 1 Link to comment
BluBarbi98 March 27, 2023 Share March 27, 2023 I binged this show and it started so well but Team Alpha really ruined it for me. I agree with the above poster who said that just the survivial aspect/human relationships without the sabatoge made it interesting enough. Alpha Team's actions really turned the show ugly. No team was perfect but they were the worst so I'm glad they didn't win. I also didn't appreciate one of the producers trying to sanitize their actions as, "They just wanted to get home sooner" in an interview. I felt really bad for Javier for all that he went through but also that he couldn't compete on his own skills which is why I thought he was there. I understand why the others didn't fight but applaud him for standing up for what was right as much as he could. His biggest mistake IMO was yelling the conversation across the lake instead of just going over there in person. I don't think I'd watch a season 2 because if there are no rules against Alpha team's behavior, then the genie can't get put back into the bottle. 2 Link to comment
gaPeach July 3, 2023 Share July 3, 2023 (edited) I tuned in not knowing what to expect and at first it was a combination of Alone and Survivor but soon became something completely different and it was not good. Lord of the Flies comes to mind. I could not believe how fast Alpha team turned the game when they stole Bravo teams sleeping bags. I thought for sure production would step in and tell them to give them back, but no that did not happen. That fact that one team can raid other teams camp and steal items they actually need to survive and get away with it made me wonder the thought process of the producers. Do they think we want to watch bad people ran over decent people and win? The fact Charlie would not take Javier in because they did not want to deal with the Wrath from team Alpha, had me screaming at the TV "What do you think team Alpha is going to play nice now???" They should have taken him in and maybe watching this back they might agree. Charlie, Javier's teammate also disappointed me by the way he tapped out of game by not telling Javier. I totally understood his aversion to the cheating and underhanded tactics from team Alpha, but he owed Javier a face-to-face explanation. The two teammates left on Bravo team (after what's his name slinked away like a thief in the night to join Charlie-another great disappointment) really were survivors. How long did they last without their sleeping bags, 3 nights? Again, I understand why they tapped out, as they too did not want to play this adult version of Lord of The Flies. They came to survive Alaska on their survival skills not who can screw over who to win. And please lose the "They only wanted to go home sooner than later". Hey you know what? So did the other teams. The difference is they respected the spirit of the game even if the "rules" allowed you to be a Survivor Thug and Bully. Great game just please knock out the mean girls BS and it could be a great show. I could do a whole other post on how bad Alpha team was and how much I disliked Jill. gaPeach July 5, 2023 Share July 5, 2023 Finally watched the last episode and so happy Jill did not win. I wish they had a reunion show to talk about the crap that went on during the filming. I hope they do another season but take the "raiding other's tents" out of the equation. I was surprised Charlie did not take in what's his name from Alpha, but I understand why they didn't. He did his fair share of debauchery when he was on Alpha, so he did not deserve a second chance. A small part of me wanted them to keep them just so it wiped that smirk off Jill's face. But I get it. 1 Link to comment
pH-factor December 28, 2023 Share December 28, 2023 The best part was Jill crying because she lost while thinking the universe was on her side ( especially after being snarky about if the guys took bearings et al.) Such a vile creature! What a pleasure she got what she deserved. Hope never to see her again. Javier was a nice guy too bad all the others just wanted to throw in the towel. I don't understand the biking around the US. Has he been doing this awhile or this a new venture? 2 Link to comment
IdEatThat September 5 Share September 5 I just watched the first six episodes of Season 2. It’s much better than Season 1 in my opinion. I generally didn’t feel outraged by any of the behavior. The final two episodes drop next week. I don’t have strong feelings either way as to which team wins, although if I had to I’d pick Delta. None of them are particularly likable. 2 Link to comment
LakeGal September 12 Share September 12 I finished watching season 2. I have to say I found this season a bit boring. I didn't really care who won. 1 Link to comment
suzeecat September 13 Share September 13 While waiting for Netflix to drop the next two eps of S2 (posted to be 9/11, but not there as of 9/12, WTH?), I decided to go back and check out S1. I am completely convinced that in the end it was set up for Camp Charlie to win and for Camp Alpha to be within sight of it. After the horrible antics of Alpha, production could not let Alpha win, which was clearly evident in the note read by Charlie upon their ultimate win - something to the effect of playing fair and honorably. I can see this Jill creature being a road rager and the neighbor from h*ll and I hope to never cross paths with the likes of her. She deserved a very bitter defeat. Link to comment
