Cranberry June 11, 2022 Author Share June 11, 2022 Heh! So Juliette's mom ended up being more understanding than expected and Elinor ended up being less understanding. Oliver showing up throws a wrench into everything, too. I'm interested to hear his story. The grandmother was excellent casting -- Polly Draper's Davina looks like she could be related to Elizabeth Mitchell. Interesting that a bite from a legacy vampire links the two people in dreams -- or at least these two people; I doubt Elinor is out there double-dreaming with all the people she's bitten in the women's bathroom. I wonder if it's actually true or just hunter myth that the "venom" can affect someone's mind and turn them against their family (I'm thinking myth, as only Elinor has been shown to have any mind control powers -- plus it would make this love story less compelling if Cal wasn't of completely sound mind). I'm still not understanding what Cal sees in Juliette, though, aside from realizing that she might not be a real monster, but a sweet girl with unfortunate lineage who's just trying to live her life. I think we need more scenes with the two of them together. So these vampires can eat normal food without getting sick, too... they really have it made. Apparently the first kill is an absolute necessity, though (is that simply for specific Atwood-lineage-related reasons, or does Juliette actually need to kill someone for her health? Would feeding on animals, or on people without killing them, work? I expect we'll find out). I hope Juliette tells Ben at some point. It kinda sounds like being a vampire's "pet" human actually keeps a person safe. 1 Link to comment

I was a big fan of 30-something but did not recognize her at all. She reminded me of Nicole Kidman, but I knew it couldn't be NK in this type of series. I'm not seeing it either. Apparently she does feel physical attraction, but it's more than that for Juliette so I am hoping Cal will show more emotional warmth soon. Snakes terrify me, so those scenes upset me more than the other gore. It looks like Sebastian's cure made him a scarier vampire--if true, that's too bad because I wanted him to continue to be understanding of Juliette's not wanting to hurt people. Link to comment
pootlus June 13, 2022 Share June 13, 2022 I would enjoy this show a lot more if the music wasn't drowning out the dialogue. I'm almost at the point where I need subtitles. 1 1 Link to comment

I’m thinking tiny kernel of truth that’s been exaggerated by the Guild. In some stories vampire venom/saliva has narcotic properties, so vampire thralls are addicted to being bitten (I got that vibe from the guy Elinor was snacking on in the bathroom). The “turning against your family” could just refer to the addiction. Agree that that if there is some mind controlling aspect this romance will turn from cutely awkward to squick real fast. 1 Link to comment

Hopefully they'll fix the balance if they get future seasons. 2 Link to comment
