S04.E08: Unveiled

When it becomes apparent that conspiracy group The Unseen has assembled a hit list of anyone who has helped The Charmed Ones…the girls (Melonie Diaz, Sarah Jeffery and Lucy Barrett) and Harry (Rupert Evans) must scramble to warn – and save – their nearest and dearest now that everyone they know is an instant target.

WTH. We finally find out who Kaela's parents are and they skip the most important part, finding out why they gave her up. Instead we get a lot of nonsense about Maggie knocking them out then whipping up a potion that will not only restore them but wipe their memories. Like, she knows how to do that, off the top of her head. Ugh. I don't know where they're going with this whole Kaela/Charmed thing and it doesn't feel like we're getting any closer to finding out.

I also don't get WTF they're doing with Harry anymore. I can't think of a worse power than one that knocks you unconscious. I honestly think this whole change was driven by the fact that the show just doesn't want to do the orbing effect anymore. They probably don't have the budget for it.

I honestly don't know how this show stays on the air, the ratings are abysmal. I think the licensing deal with Netflix is the only thing that saves it.

well now that the CW is up for sale and they are canceling things left and right I am not sure how safe this show is anymore

That's Batwoman, Charmed, Dynasty, In the Dark, Legacies, Legends of Tomorrow, Naomi, Roswell, New Mexico, and 4400 cancelled now. I'm not the least bit disappointed to see Charmed go (and in fact if it hadn't gotten cancelled when some of those better shows had, I would have been annoyed). It's always been an incoherent mess. I'm just disappointed it turned out to be so bad, because I was really looking forward to it when I first heard about it.

This was a weak episode which felt like it lasted forever, though not worse than anything from the last 2 seasons.  They finally realized it was a good idea to try to set the record straight against all the propaganda against them?  Why would that cause Maggie's hand-sticky thing to go away?  Harry's subplots have been really boring, despite the potential of being able to communicate with the dead.  They should have given Ruby a backstory earlier, so we could care about her.  I don't get why that lady at the bar suddenly wanted to help them after yelling at them for causing problems at the club/bar.  The spell to get Ruby's voice by kissing her was so contrived.  I just read the episode description... did they even bother to warn their other "nearest and dearest" about the danger towards them?  The "mystery" surrounding Kaela's parentage is starting to wear thin.  So her birth parents are just uninteresting non-magical beings?
