The film chronicles the life of a working class Northern Irish Protestant family from the perspective of their 9-year-old son Buddy during The Troubles in Belfast, Northern Ireland. Buddy's father Pa works overseas in England, while the family - Ma, elder brother Will, and paternal grandparents Granny and Pops - live in Belfast.

Stars: Jamie Dornan, Catriona Balfe, Judi Dench, Jude Hill and Ciaran Hinds.

It’s on all the on demand platforms now at the $19.99 rate.  I want to see it, but I’ll wait till it goes down to $5.99.

I saw it in a theater for $7.  No, make that $5; it was discount Tuesday.

I adored the little kid in this.  Between him and the kid in C'mon C'mon, it's a really strong year for the youth.

Yikes. I pay enough for the privilege of watching TV Mostly with plenty of commercials how they get away with that shit is infuriating Sometimes I miss the old days of the antenna and free TV😁

I’ll  wait until This comes on whatever app for free

Of all the awards shows I’ve seen so far this has been my favourite which makes sense given the number of awards it’s nominated for.

it’s such a lovely film. Captures the troubles but from the eyes of a child which means it’s not out and out depressing. Jamie Dornan is very charismatic as the dad and I think he and Catriona Balfe establish the background and history of their characters relationship without saying much.

This is the little picture that could… For lack of a better term, the "cool" awards prognosticators are determined for this movie to the old dinosaur that shouldn't win awards anymore… But really, Belfast is an underdog. An intimate story of profound change through the eyes of memory, and nails the perfect, poignant ending is the kind of movie that should win more Oscars and get more attention if you ask me.

Just watched this film again on Blu-ray.  It’s a crime that Caitriona Balfe and Jamie Dornan did not get Oscar nods.  I thought they were both exceptional.  We are thrust into the middle of Ma and Pa’s story, where they have been married for a long time.  We don’t know much about them and their history but they work so well together and I agree with the above comment that we know so much about them without knowing hardly anything.

It’s the small scenes that define their relationship.  Dancing together in the street, talking about their kids and their future, dancing together at Pop’s wake.  Great job by both actors.

Ciaran Hinds and Judi Dench were both fantastic as well   I know the Oscars are supposedly going to Troy Kotsur and Ariana De Bose, but I would love if either or both Hinds and Dench surprise and win.

Jude Hill was a revelation.  Looking forward to seeing him in future films.

I want an extended “Everlasting Love” sequence.

Lastly, I really liked the alternate ending, where the adult Buddy (played by Branagh) returns to Belfast and all 7 of them walk the streets   It would have been nice for him to have met up with Catherine and talked about their lives.
