Thanks, I'll have to go back and rewatch the last couple of episodes. I may have already mentally checked out after hearing it was canceled. 😕 Link to comment https://forums.primetimer.com/topic/124732-winning-time-the-rise-of-the-lakers-dynasty-general-discussion/page/6/#findComment-8548641

Interesting, I had assumed they knew they were only getting 2 seasons at some point before S2 came out. Just because S1 was 10 episodes and S2 was only 7. Plus most of the first season episodes were around an hour while in 2 most were around 45 minutes. Plus if they didn't know from the start then the pacing is super weird. Like in season 1 the actual NBA season doesn't start until episode 5 and goes until the last episode. But then for season 2 they burn through 4 NBA seasons in 7 episodes. I would have thought if they thought they might have a chance they would have slowed it down and given each of those seasons a bit more attention. Like the Magic/Westhead thing seemed to come out of nowhere, and then is forgotten shortly after because each episode (which is now shorter) is covering months worth of time, if not more. You could probably go back here to when the last show aired to see the discussion at the time. I'm fairly certain they didn't know S2 would be the last beforehand. I'm also mostly sure the montage and the Jeannie scene I said earlier were filmed after they got the cancel notice. I was guessing they planned on ending the season at the same point, but the episode order maybe got cut, necessitating the pace.
