This way each team has a save and a steal so it remains an even number for the HtH Knockouts. And then it's a sing off to see who the one is that makes it to the Lives and that team has one person extra until the first live cut. But, yes, I totally agree with what you're saying when it's a consolation round rather than a straight shot to the Lives.
