EXCLUSIVE: In the Heights star Anthony Ramos looks to have entered the Marvel Cinematic Universe as sources tell Deadline that he is set for a key role in Marvel’s Ironheart series for Disney+. Ironheart will star Dominique Thorne as Marvel character Riri Williams, a genius inventor and  creator of the most advanced suit of armor since Iron Man.

Chinaka Hodge was recently tapped as head writer on the series, first announced as being in development during Disney’s investor-day presentation in December 2020. While details behind the Ramos role are unknown, sources say it will be similar to how Jonathan Majors was introduced as Kang the Conquer in Loki, where he is expected to not only have a big role in this series but in future Marvel projects as well.

While a premiere date for the series is still TBD, insiders have told Deadline that Williams is expected to make her debut in the MCU in the upcoming Black Panther: Wakanda Forever, which bows in November.

An upcoming toy has spoiled Ironheart’s upgraded suit for the end of Black Panther: Wakanda Forever. This might mean this show will not end with a new look for someone, unlike the majority of Marvel shows so far.

... Now, sources tell The Hollywood Reporter that Loki season two and the Samuel L. Jackson-led Secret Invasion are the only sure bets to debut this year. Even projects that wrapped months ago, such as the Hawkeye spinoff Echo and Wakanda Forever spinoff Ironheart, are unlikely to arrive in 2023 as the studio spreads out its content and tinkers in postproduction. And shows in development, such as Nova, are now on a slower path.

In an exclusive interview for X-Men ’97 with Agents of Fandom, Marvel Studios Head of Streaming, Television, and Animation Brad Winderbaum gave an exciting update on the MCU’s upcoming slate.

Winderbaum confirmed that both Ironheart and Wonder Man are currently in the editing process following initial production. The producer did not confirm when either show would debut on Disney+, but they are both set in stone for a release.

“Yeah, absolutely. We’re editing both of those shows as we speak. They’re spectacular, they’re amazing, and they’re different…We’re able to explore corners of the universe that are really exciting. Riri Williams is one of them and I cannot wait for people to meet Simon Williams.”

Brad Winderbaum on if shows like Ironheart and Wonder Man are still happening amid Marvel’s shakeup

This comes after The Hollywood Reporter shared news in September that it had been completely removed from Marvel’s schedule, leaving questions about its debut.
