I saw a video of how the human hair for the hair extensions  is acquired.  it was awful.  women living in poverty in Cambodia were being persuaded to sell their hair for very small amounts of money, which they needed to feed their families.  Women were crying, not wanting to give up their hair, but feeling like they had no other choice.  It made me very sad.  If I ever had to get a wig, I would want to know exactly how the hair was acquired.  

I saw a similar video of women in extreme poverty in India, and it was their religious leaders who were making them give up their hair to pay for their meagre allotment of food.
