My Octopus Teacher is a 2020 Netflix Original documentary film directed by Pippa Ehrlich and James Reed. It stars Craig Foster, who also produced the film. The film captures a year Foster spent with a wild octopus. Foster followed the octopus for most of the octopus' life.

In partnership with Sea Change Project, Off The Fence and ZDF Enterprises, My Octopus Teacher, executive produced by Ellen Windemith, took ten years to make. Cinematography was by underwater cameraman Roger Horrocks.

An incredible film,  beautifully shot and edited.   I was rooting for the octopus and when the shark was hunting her in the kelp forest it was better than any thriller because it was real!  I had no idea they were so intelligent.

I loved this movie, and thought it was profound and beautifully written and shot. I love octopuses -- they're brilliant and sensitive creatures, and the closest things on earth to actual aliens.
