8.611 steps yesterday.

I got stuck in the snow twice getting out yesterday for cat food. Then when I got back got stuck so badly I had to shovel a whole path and make a turnaround so I could back in to my space. Facing out is the only way I'd be able to get out the next trip. So two hours of shoveling snow. Thanks to the new shovel I bought on the way home it was easier than with the old aluminum bent up one I had! Only sore area as a result is my right thumb feels sore and stiff. Back seems OK though.

Only chore today is taking the garbage up to the road. At least it will flatten down my way out some more!  I sure will be glad to have 4WD again after tomorrow!

The shoveling was mare actual steps than I though I guess. I sure got my exercise for the day yesterday. But I don't have another day like that in me for a while!

Late to post, I had to get out early to have car fixed.

8,504 steps yesterday.

Took garbage up the road and got stuck again trying to turn around to back into spot. So more snow shoveling yesterday on my open area to get out and back in today. Maybe I'll have 4WD coming home!🤞

Since I'm so late to post, I'll add I got the 4WD working. All the guy had to do was use some pliers and turn the knob with way more strength then I have to engage 4WD again. He sprayed some lubricant on it and I was good to go in 15 min. Best thing was no charge!  He said he didn't know why they couldn't do that when I had my tires rotated. My thoughts were they were going for the upsale of what ever service it was they saiid I "needed".

Since I was out I did some shopping, since I had planned to spend some money anyway!! LOL!

Today I paid the piper for two good days where I ran errands.  That's the way of life is it not?

I feel like it's 10 or 11 pm and it's only 8.

I know exactly what you mean!! A few good days and then for no reason I can pin point, a day that seems to just drag and I feel like I didn't get anything done. Or, every joint seems to have something to say about the past couple of days.

Dr appt went fine yesterday, she said my leg looks good, but of course she hadn't seen original injury. I had a pix on my phone and showed her and she said the dr did a great job stitching it up as more than likely the covering skin would have died and it didn't! And it feels just about normal now too!

Didn't get to the laundry yesterday so it is the plan for today.

8,794 steps yesterday.

No major snow in the forecast for a few days, so I won't be moving the snow and those little aches all over can heal. In general feeling pretty decent. I'm not going to push the steps but just do what I can without paying attention to it. These cold foggy days are more conducive to curling up by the fire with Millie cat in my lap!!

9,022 steps yesterday.

As long as I don't have a lot of snow to shovel, I think I am almost all the way back from leg injury. We do show a few nice days still for this week so I am going to try to get out and go to my newly found walking area at the Wildlife Refuge.

Taking the garbage up to the road and a quick grocery run to fill in some wet cat food until that part of Chewy order arrives Thursday. The dry food part of the order is coming today.

Just the short grocery run yesterday for getting out.  Still too cold and icy to venture out to the paths. Today looks to be even a bit colder so probably won't be venturing out to walk again today either. The sun is nice outside so may go out just around the house a bit but that is it. Rest of my walking will be inside.

Yesterday's steps were mostly done inside. It was still too icy to walk anywhere outside. Can't risk a fall of any kind!

31° was the high yesterday, it was mostly clear. It was all clear at night which made it even colder and the small amount of snow that had melted has turned to slick ice. It is pretty treacherous walking outside so again, most of my walking will be inside.!  Today's forecast is 37°/24° and cloudy. The piles of snow aren't going anywhere soon.

Nothing particular on the agenda, but things always seem to come up. I know the last Chewy box is coming today so that is the only "chore" I know I will have to do!

More walking inside yesterday. It was still very icy outside.

It is freezing fog this morning, 11°F when I went out to feed the cats, but this afternoon it is again supposed to be mostly sunny. A cold front is dropping down from Canada the next few days but fortunately for me the brunt of the cold, (sorry for the folks in the East) is going to be further East. Our temps are going down quite a bit as a result.

Another quiet day. It is still very icy outside, so walking inside again today.  I think I am going to fill another couple garbage bags for the Goodwill. I'll take them when I go to podiatrist early Feb.

9,168. steps yesterday.

Surprised by the number.

Spent a good part of the morning yesterday moving a storage shelf from my office into the kitchen and arranging all the cat food cases on it. It is a nice shiny chrome rack, counter height, and looks nice in the kitchen. It really tidies up the clutter of all the cans that were stacked around the fireplace in the kitchen. (An old white enamel stove that was used for burning paper by the previous owners. I don't use it as it doesn't seem safe.) That was a bigger project than I thought but glad I did it!

Besides moving things around, my friend came over for a visit and we sat and talked for a while so I really thought my number would be lower yesterday. I guess the back and forth from office to kitchen added more steps than I thought.

Nothing on the agenda today except the ever present, growing laundry...

I have to report that I go to Orange Theory twice a week for the strength class.  Last year it was covered by our Medicare advantage plan. This year it isn't but Orange Theory now has a senior rate so makes it possible.  Well, when I started I couldn't do all the exercises as described.  I still can't. They give lots of options.  Sometimes things are beyond me so I do what I do.  Tuesday was lower body and there were 3 sets of 12 squats with weights, sitting on the bench and getting up.  I didn't used to be able to get all the way down. I did this time.  then there were 3 sets of twelve lunges on each side.  All went well.  Until I tried to get out of bed on Wednesday!  Oy!  Moving helps, sitting stiffens. But, today all is back to normal and I'm proud of myself for at least being able to do it.  I just turned 81 and i am not a pinup to be sure, but, I am glad I can at least keep moving.

9,116 steps yesterday.

Out of 16 hours walking only 3 were under 250 steps/hr according to my step counter, most well over.  My back is aching, I think the cold is settling in from working outside a bit too much. With just light showers today, I shouldn't have to do much outside today so I can rest some.

I've had to cut back on walking for a bit.  I think I got overexuberant and my body is complaining.  I had even made it above 10,000 steps a couple of days.

I've had that happen. I haven't done 10,000 steps in a day since the Summer. I did tons of walking this past Summer and my body barked at me after a while. I gave myself bunions and toe bursitis even wearing well fitting, comfortable Skechers. And I still gained a few pounds on the two cruises I went on despite that. How you can gain 4 lbs. in a week despite doing 16,000 steps a day and watching what you eat is beyond me. It's this damned Hashimoto's, I'm sure. I see the thyroid doctor again in early Feb.

In the Winters I'm lucky to get above 5,000 steps a day. Interestingly my weight is holding, probably because I eat like a bird. But I can't lose those 7 or so pounds I gained. I think I lost one but the rest aren't going anywhere. I wish I felt good about joining a gym, but I had to quit going to them over a decade ago because I kept catching colds. And that was despite sanitizing everything like a lunatic.

The thyroid issue is real.  Also lack of hormones.  Also, age.  I'm working hard to stay the same.  Have you considered Orange Theory?  Our Medicare advantage paid for it for last year, now we have to pay, but, it is really solo exercising and no more than 15 on the floor and 15 on the treadmills.  My strength classes are in the middle of the day and usually sparsely attended.  I have to wear ear plugs because the music is so loud and I am always the oldest one there, but, I don't care. I work at my own pace and there are always workarounds to all the exercises, including standing in place checking my phone!  No one cares.

Thank you so much, I'll have to look into that! I'll have to see if Medicare and my supplemental will cover that place. We have two close by.

I have Hashimoto's also.  It did make it easier to gain than lose although I was able to hold my weight at a reasonable level eventually.  It seemed almost any sugar would put weight on faster and I needed about double the protein as before.

Since my latest medical adventure, I no longer have weight gain problems.  I was fighting two hormone issues before that.

With the gyms sadly it isn't just the touching that you're battling, but the germs in the air also and you can't control the ventilation.  Perhaps the newer places will have better ventilation than where you used to go.

All I can speak to is our location and that Mr lookeyloo is highly susceptible to upper respiratory things and he hasn't been sick at all in the last year.  So he didn't catch anything there or anyplace else.  I don't usually get colds or things like that.  Can't remember the last time I had one.

I may have forgotten - Are you taking thyroid hormone? I am not, not yet anyway, and I worry about being able to tolerate it. I'm reading that being on it helps with the weight management.

Yep, I learned all about "particle spray" thanks to the pandemic and those shocking videos posted, which isn't exactly making me rush to a gym any time soon. I will look into Orange Theory, though.

8,215 steps yesterday.

Almost all of these steps were inside. The cold is getting to my knees now too and they were both aching yesterday. Today is much colder (-9° when I went out to feed the cats at 7:30AM) and I plan to stay inside almost all day, and take it a little easy for my knees and back's sake.

I have the same hesitancy about going to gyms, it is the airborne germs I have concerns with. I sanitize still as I did during the height of Covid. I am to the point I think I will investigate the few gyms that are near here just to see what is available. If for nothing else besides just getting out more!

Yes, synthroid sometimes brand and sometimes generic.  It depends on what the pharmacy has in stock.  My body can't tell any difference although some people say it's different for them.  I have zero problems taking it now.  The first week, it made me a little jittery for an hour or two, but each day was less.  It helps some with weight management, but for me it's the change in energy level that is huge.
