Padma tweets about the Gabe situation post-episode

Felt bad for Shota, really thought he had it. Of course a fan fave is nice (and the final two for Fan Fave is between him and Dawn), but winning Top Chef AND fan Fave would have been way cooler.

When Nicole Kidman slapped Meryl Streep, I gasped. LOUDLY.

I actually feel like that is totally consistent. I'm more afraid of Bonnie's mom than of Mary Louise. I totally see why Bonnie is apprehensive. Also, I really enjoyed this episode. I literally had tears in the end scene of Jane and Celeste and their kids together. There's a lot to handle with this episode but everything landed for me. Laura Dern continues to amaze, Reese continues to balance both comedy and drama, all the kids are amazing, Adam Scott + that ending song, Zoe Kravitz delivering when the material is there!

After meeting Mary Louise, not surprised Perry ended up being an egotistical man. She adores him and puts him in a pedestal that enabled him and probably his actions a lot. Love the season opener. And I gasped with Mary Louise's final line delivery. That was an Emmy trophy waiting to be delivered to her.

The fact that it was the shortest season since Netflix took over makes me feel why the general feedback is underwhelming That said, I'm pretty fine with it. None of these three episodes make the best Black Mirror eps, but none also make the worst. Smithereens is probably my favorite of the three, as it reminds me of some of the classic Black Mirror episodes like National Anthem and Shut Up and Dance where it's a series of unfortunate events. It really didn't say anything new (how people's life has been devoured into social media already), but I like the point that it emphasized. Also, great acting all around. Striking Vipers is interesting but I felt it was kinda thin and stretched out. I wish it would have gone way darker than that, but it's one of the few Black Mirror endings where you can interpret it as a happy ending. The Hannah Montana: 10 Years Later episode feels more like a Disney movie and is probably the least Black Mirror-ish type of episode, but I must say I was entertained only because y'know Miley was enjoying it. I can't get the song off of my head though. Anyway, I know Seasons 1 and 2 are only three episodes as well, but the shortage of episodes was really felt this season, I think.

I think the reason why Silky chose Brooke Lynn is because A'keria is her friend, and as much as Silky blabs about being a great lipsyncher, she's afraid of Yvie and won't give her a chance to directly "beat" her. Thus, she's left with no option but to go with Brooke Lynn.
-
At least we got the final showdown between the two best of the four remaining. Yvie deserved if it we based it on that last number. I like how she just tried to acted it out with minimum stunts and relied on the drama as much as possible. I wish this was the season we had the tie instead of All Stars 4.
-
I honestly feel like when they were shooting this whole season, the producers thought they hit the jackpot about Silky and that she will be a fan favorite or that the audience will love her yada yada. Biggest fuck up ever. More than Nina going, what appalled me the most was that if it wasn't a double sashay, then it should not be Nina going home. Silky has no business AT ALL to stay there after trying to ruin the set, not knowing the words, splits out of tune etc. At least Nina's basic dance moves were in beat, and I feel like she was imitating TLC, Salt N Pepa, Aaliyah 90s r&B moves, but TKB she ain't. Also, Yvie should be top 3 right after Brooke Lynn and Vanjie.

I know a lot of the people here wanted to see the Season 5 Colin, and I thought we're gonna see glimpse of that when they didn't bring the basket but they continue to amaze me with Zen Colin, so I'm really happy they won this round. Nicole and Victor not being sore losers after finishing second for the third time, good work! I am a fan of the entertaining TV that both Janelle and Britney had during their BB seasons, so I'm still kinda hoping they'd make some mark in the race because at this stage, they're just, as Rachel would say it.. "floaters." Regarding the ending, the Reilly sisters know how to really make drama but Elissa especially was very genuine when she greeted Corrine and Eliza. The Survivor girls, just really hated that they have to take all the shit they said about the Reilly sisters, and losing with them on the mat is the cherry on the top of an ice cream. Don't blame them for going out, blame being stupid for standing on the circular boat the entire time.

I guess even here in PTV, a season discussing Xtina will never be boring. Let me just say that I don't buy the Gwen and Xtina rumors AT ALL. They have really been great friends even as early as 2007, both attending each other's kid's parties and have scheduled lots of child playtime. There are lots of pictures in it in the internet (google it up, folks). And while Xtina is also friends with Miranda (definitely got connected through Blake), it's not as if she can only be friends with one. I even remember back in S1 when Miranda tweeted a shade against Xtina and later apologized that she did not meant it as such. They've been spotted out in dinners since then. Even when the new Blake-Gwen romance blossomed, there was an interview with Xtina where she was asked about it (which felt like the reporter hoping to get some quotable quotes), and Christina just specified that she's been friends with both Gwen and Blake and that she's really happy for them and not be bothered with how the press is spinning the romance since everyone deserves to be happy yada yada. This whole Christina can't work with other female artists is really one of the most overstated things in the internet. Sure, she had feud with Mariah (whose ego is definitely bigger than Christina's), Pink and Mary J. Blige but those were still back in 2004 onwards. Her interaction with Miley alone during this season would be enough to contradict that she hates other women or gets insecure because isn't she the one's who been on record continuously wishing why there isn't a season with two women yet?

This episode just solidified my love for Team Surfers and cyclists. And the wrestlers are doing a smooth job sailing as well.

Up until the last three mat finishes (annoying Mom, surfer couple almost on the brink of getting eliminated, Dentists still having their Save), this was probably my favorite episode in a long time. But hey, I won't let that ruin the fun I had this episode. First, love the changes in rankings/placements. Mostly a combination of letting them set a flight of their own and indeed challenging tasks. I like how the episode is dependent on "memory": knowing the details in that Detour, the orders in the Roadblock, even the Scandinavian capitals (props to the Ts for not asking help and being very excited when answering it). This is the type of challenges that I love in TAR (the memory ones) because they're on the same field in terms of opportunities. Also, got a hoot with Wrestler guy delivering the orders in an operatic way! I would put Ida's sandwich store in my bucket list because those sandwiches look really delish. As for Jim and Misti, I really appreciate him not lashing out on her (at least on camera) so as not to make the viewers uncomfortable and not giving the TAR editors to repeat a clip over and over again. Jim obviously looks defeated and they probably fought over that after, but we were spared from it. Oh and am I the only one who felt icky when female dentist was holding the cake in the bike embracing it and just using her bare hands? Umm. As for Mom, OH MY GOD. I would have thrown a hissy fit there if I were in daughter's shoes. What was Mother thinking!?!? Her point apparently.

Given the scenario, yep I would do exactly like that. The other guests won't have the power to eliminate him, while Padma can. If he wants to be Top Chef, he must please the judges. Besides, isn't it always like that? You reserve the best parts for the judges because they'll be the one critiquing your dish. I don't think Padma was being bratty to "demand" a better piece; instead, I find it faulty on the messy chef that he wasn't quick to think of choosing the best for the four judges. I'm really not annoyed with Blais the way others are here, so he's an okay addition. But then again, what do I know? I also do love Hughnibrow so maybe I have a knack of liking the annoying ones. Padma throwing the fat doesn't bother me either. Looking at cap guy slicing it while serving already made me "eek" so what more if I was put in that scenario. Also, that many ingredients guy is TOO.MUCH.TOO.SOON. The moment he said "squid ink fondue", I would have zoned off. Why did he think that hearing such will translate to yummy or delicious is beyond me. Overall, I'm okay with this season starter so far. Not anyone to consider my favorite yet, though a lot are going quickly in my "dislike" list.

Team Dentist would have been a good promo for Gone Girl, really. He's creepy, albeit a bit nice for helping others. Also, while I like the team, during the scientists' intro, as they were saying "We're doing Amazing Race to show that scientists are more than labcoats, beakers, and goggles", the video of them being showed is when they're wearing labcoats, goggles, and pouring chemicals into beakers. Am I the only one who noticed this? I'm digging the Asian team for some reasons, the mom and daughter one, the surfers, and the cyclists even if I was a bit off with the asking of the surfer guy to remove his life vest. Also, I will call the firefighters as #TeamSteveCarell since Michael & Scott is too laid out a joke that they should have seen coming.
