  1. It's almost like ASP put in something so completely ridiculous just to see if she could get away with it. Or that she was dared or blackmailed! I just cannot understand how she thought those two season 6 storylines were a good idea - rift followed by long lost daughter. It's laughable even writing the words.
  2. Is this really an UO? For me, this was the Jump The Shark moment (or half season) of the entire show. I don't think the Lorelai Gilmore we saw up to that point would have ever freezed Rory out in the way it played out on screen. It would have killed her and never should have gone on that long. The freezing out was OOC enough, but in league with not going to Rory's court appearance or refusing to tell her about the engagement it just was not true to the Lorelai character and the Lorelai/Rory relationship we'd seen for 5 seasons. Then there was the Ice Queen knock back when Rory tried to give her her new phone number. And would she have even tried to contact Rory for her birthday if she hadn't been invited to the party at the Gilmores? It sure didn't look like she would blink first. That's utterly heartless and unforgivable in my book. But again, we were in soapland by that point. Sigh. I remember an interview with LG where she said she felt the estrangement went on too long and that she believed the character would have tried harder to reach out to her daughter. And I think she's right. Perhaps this is an UO? I think it harmed the show immensely to have almost no Lorelai/Rory interaction for 9 episodes. The two core relationships (Lorelai/Rory and Lorelai/Emily) were off screen for almost half a season. There was also the collateral damage of Rory having very little interaction with anyone from Stars Hollow; Lorelai having pretty much no interaction with Emily/Richard; the L/L engagement being under a pall of doubt/sadness/ice given Lorelai's life circumstances etc I think it was a huge mis step by ASP.And I think both the Lorelai and Rory characters were irrevocably damaged during that horrendous arc. They never really got their mojo back after that. GG ends at season 5 for me.
  3. Half thinking now that it's all been a fake out. No deaths at all but just a few cynically placed near misses instead.
  4. An obvious one, but in RBP where Lorelai climbs into bed with Rory to tell her the story of her birth. This scene has just the perfect mix of sweetness, wit and charm to avoid being cheesy. The dialogue flows naturally and Rory's ILY is so genuine. I also like the make up scene in KMN - particularly the end where Rory cuddles into Lorelai's arm. It's such a kid thing to do. The way she hides her face from Lorelai who in turn ducks her head to try to see her eyes - I just love those tiny nuances. And the final scene in TBPPT - Rory crying on the couch and Lorelai coming to console her. It's so them - 'I'm ready to wallow now'; the massive tub of ice-cream; the kisses to her face; ordering pizza. Just a heartwrencher!
  5. Oh seriously DFC, that news has made my week! I love this fic (and all of your stories in fact). I have a weakness for pre-series stuff so this story is such a treat.
  6. OMG I've thought that for years haha. I actually assumed she had an artifical leg until I first saw her in a scene with her legs exposed. Seriously!
  7. Now this, would be an interesting switch, One I'd like to see in fact. I'm really disappointed with how they've portrayed Amber this season. They've shown her become pregnant in an accidently-on-purpose type way (hello, morning after pill?), which is fine if TPTB showed her actually own the decision. Instead they have her whine about not being able to drink or smoke; not planning/thinking at all with regards to how the frick she's actually going to manage; not wanting to tell Ryan etc etc. If she had planned/hoped to get pregnant under some misguided romantic notion of trying to hold onto Ryan (or even just the memory of Ryan) it wouldn't have been wise, but would have been understandable if she went full steam ahead with pregnancy & motherhood. Instead, we have her go through with a pregnancy that she's really not on board with. For what end?
  8. I don't think anyone has yet pimped DFC's latest chapter of her most gorgeous story 'A Year in the Hollow'? Go and read it guys! https://www.fanfiction.net/s/10341736/7/A-Year-in-the-Hollow I'm loving this story and am wishing my life away watching the calender roll into a new month and a new chapter haha.
  9. Yay!! Thanks so much Eledgy.
  10. Just a notion given the Breaking Bad prequel, and the now defunct Carrie Diaries: would a GG prequel series work? I think there is an absolute wealth of stories that could be done but the trick would be getting actors good enough to satisfy the characters we already know and love (hate?!) Done well it would be phenomenal. Hiring players like the girl who played teen Lorelai in DEAR-not so much. And where would it take place - teen Lorelai & Christopher pre pregnancy? Lorelai and baby Rory chained up in the Gilmore mansion? The Gilmore Girls first arrival to Stars Hollow? Their first years at the Crap Shack? So. Many. Options. Part if me wishes ASP would get working on this. The other part of me suspects she'd have Sherylin Fenn playing Rory's middle school teacher and Sean Gunn as Lorelai's first romantic interest post Christopher. Sigh.
  11. So glad to see so many names I recognise here! The post twop world wont be such a dark place after all. Back on topic.... Given the nature of the show its interesting that we never had either a Mothers Day or Fathers Day episode. I think it would've made a good study to compare a season one Mothers Day eppy to a season 6/7 one. The Lorelai/Emily dynamic was in two vastly different places. Also, given the penchant for town quirk and festivals, we are still short a Halloween episode, a St Patricks Day one, a New Years and a Valentines eppy. Plenty of fodder for fanfic perhaps?!
