  1. None of it has ever been verified -- it's just 'rumored' or assumed. Aurora even said to Maude one time -- and you'll inherit a fortune (paraphrasing) and Maude does NOT agree or disagree.
  2. Unconscious prejudice/bias. ALL black (Colored) people are poor dontchaknow?
  3. Some people never even get to SEE the cake much less get a taste! Ada was given a lovely gift.
  4. I was actually thinking the same thing! I am not as sad as others. Ada got her cake and she got to eat it too! No matter how briefly -she knew true happiness! And because new hubby has/had no children (heirs) and his mother is dead -- I am thinking Ada is going to inherit a fortune! The dynamic will most deff change when she moves back in with Agnes.
  5. And there was NO deodorant! Think of the smells! That Dashieil did the most manipulative kind of proposal ever conceived! That is not romantic! Just to 'save face' Marion was forced to accept in front of everyone! Notice she looked right at the ;little girl before she gave her answer? She likes the daughter more than the father! ha! Ada got to find her soul mate. Ada got to experience TRUE LOVE! Nothing lasts forever! There are no guarantees in life but most people never get to experience what Ada was privileged to know -- even for a short while. Plus this will get her back in the house with Agnes. Oscar fell hook line and sinker! And notice Maude is conveniently leaving town!
  6. At the time of this show I believe he is Governor of NY? he was well-known.
  7. IMO they have not portrayed Oscar as smart/savvy enough to conceive of such a plan much less carry it out.
  8. It was not overt flattery. He (the banker dude) is at first 'hesitant" to let Oscar in the room (yeah right!) and then after Oscar states what he "knows" of this transaction - the banker dude then comments to Oscar -- Oh you are SO well informed! to which Maude batts her eyelashes and simpers -- Oh I told him everything! I hope you don't mind? It was like scamming 101
  9. Whos is the dude "rumored" to be her father? I can't remember exactly but he is a historical figure. It's "rumored" that he has taken an interest in Maude. It's "rumored" that she has lots and lots of money. I think it's all part of the scam. Maude and whoever she is working with started those rumors I bet! I don't know how it will play out but Oscar just signed away a fortune! dude got scammed!
  10. Ummmm.... because it's NOT a documentary? it's historical drama! yo! So ... ramp up the angst please!
  11. She is TOTALLY scamming Oscar! She is sharp and witty and very intelligent .. except when it comes to business and banking. She just can't seem to wrap her pretty little brain around such complex matters! She needs a MAN -- aka = Oscar to explain things to her. Haha! i thought for sure something was going to happen to prevent the wedding. I was glad to see Agnes lend her support -- whether willingly or not -- at the end. The dramatic == stop the show! entrance was perfect! I am thinking Gladys is destined for the Duke.
  12. I think she is looking for a beard just like Oscar. Or shall we say -- a marriage of convenience?
  13. Me either. There is NO WAY this show breaks up the power couple of Agnes and Ada! No way! Those two old biddies are going to die in one another's arms! They will probs have the Rev die of a heart attack or leave town or.... something?? I predict here and now that the wedding never takes place!
  14. I don't know? EVERYBODY!! and I mean everybody from the servants to the The Gilded Ones knew about Turner. That she had been a lady's maid and married a man with money and now was a Grand Lady. I wonder what Enid told the old geeze about herself to get him to marry her?
  15. I got total Emmett Till vibes! Peggy thinks she is going on a big adventure! This is what? 15 - 20 years after the civil war? yeah. I do NOT see this ending well.
  16. And she has some mighty DSL's! me thinks the old geeze didn't stand a chance! ^ that would be --- Dick Sucking Lips
  17. This show takes place in the 1880's/ Correct? Well Grover Cleveland was President in 1885 - 1889 (his first stint) he was elected twice -- he served two terms as President (non consecutively) He also served as Governor of NY and mayor of Buffalo among other elected jobs) Anyway my point - he married while in office to his Ward -- yes his legal ward -- who was 28 years younger! He was 49 and she was 21. Theses characters supposedly live in NY -- this was not only common knowledge -- no one thought it was weird or wrong or bad. the public encouraged the marriage! So Oscar being in his 40's and Gladys being only 18 or so would not be considered out of the norm.
  18. I refuse to look things up! I watch the 'show" so i expect it to show me and (tell me) what I need to know. The whole time travel things just boggles my mind. Mainly because there seems to be no set rules -- some people can travel through time and some can't -- and it seems to depend upon the whims of the author.- nothing more/nothing less.
  19. ^^^ I was just going to say! It's like the show read my mind! The actors who play Tom and Claire have some definite chemistry! maybe not sexual so much but wow! They play off one another beautifully! They make me believe which is saying something! Bree and Roger haven't got the gold yet? What are they waiting for? My knowledge of history of the revolutionary war is limited. Fort Ticonderoga. Hm? It sound familiar but I will have to google what the hell happened there!
  20. How are they going to explain that gold? Seems to me Scotland and/or the Scottish or English government would lay claim. Why do we think that is was Joe (a character we met several season ago) that was going to not only operate on the baby but have money and bank accounts and documents for Roger and family? All we saw before Bree and Roger left The Ridge was Claire saying she "might know someone" who can operate on the baby's heart. I don't remember this Joe guy ever mentioned. But whoa! He seems the miracle worker indeed! Seems like we have to take a lot for granted or just 'assume' things happen in the book that they will NOT explain on the show.
  21. I didn't get any of that. The Bugs (that is their name??) have barely been peripheral characters. They have barely spoken any lines (that I can remember) so the whole situation seems -- odd. And now we have to worry about that Mr. Bug coming back and getting some sort of revenge on Ian? Huh? Why can't Jaime travel to the future? because ... reasons ...??? He can dream about it -- like perfectly correct in all the details but alas... he can't actually/physically travel? I will keep coming back to this because it doesn't make any sense.!!!!! Seems like the author can somehow write in a magic stone that Jaime could travel through (maybe for just one day? ) I would watch the shit out of that! So Roger, Bree and the kids just poof! back to the future with no problems - no questions - no issues at all. How old are Jaime and Claire supposed to be? Because the battle of Culloden was like 30 yeas in the past (1745). They have to be at least in their 60's by now. Which in 1775 was OLD! The characters Claire and Jaime should look more like the Bugs - who look to be in their 60's.
  22. OMG! Right! I never even considered that but the whole time travel through magical stones seems pretty unreliable!!!! I was actually thinking about that little boy. He seems to be at least 4 or 5 years old. He plays with a wooden airplane but he has never actually seen a real airplane. He probably thinks it's a bird like ian. Yeah and that other time traveling dude who laid his hands on Claire after she almost died giving birth to Faith. Where did he come from? Where did he go? Who the hell is he? The show has never addressed this.
  23. I am old. 🙂 I remember land lines and phone booths and of course memorizing everyone's phone numbers. Like I said -- the show will skip the logistics- because they will just drop back in as if they never left! In reality it could be days before they are able to connect with Joe (we are assuming Joe is the contact person???) and are able to wire money to a specific place (generally it was Western Union) you had to actually go to the Western Union Station to get the money. Things were not instantaneous. it could in reality take a few days. So. Where do they stay in the meantime? Out in a field with a toddler and a tiny baby??? Ha! i am being facetious!!! I know! I know! I am obviously overthinking this! next week will answer all my questions.
