  1. I'm curious if Secret Wars would be a movie or a series.  Assuming they're using the 2015 story as inspiration, I don't know how they do it without a Fantastic Four movie, because it was an FF-focused event.

And absent that, Ant-Man and the Wasp suddenly become the lynchpin of Kang Dynasty, which actually does track, because Wasp was Avengers chairperson during that story.

  2. I mean, the joke was that they were monsters who were just a loving family who thought they were normal. This basically throws all of that out the window. And it still looks so cheap.

    highly-anticipated adaptation

    I love marketing copy.

What does it say that Universal doesn't even want this apparent turd on its own platform?

  4. Venom, I of course get.  Kraven, I get.  Even Morbius, I get.

Unless they're using the Julia Carpenter version, Madame Web is a psychic who is paralyzed and sits in a chair connected to a spiderweb.  I cannot crack the existence of this film for the life of me.

Maybe, but I'm not dropping any $$$ on it to find out.

It may be coming directly to Peacock, so you may not have to.

  6. I feel like it would at least look less cheap in black and white.

Unfortunately, that wouldn't do much for Sheri Moon Zombie's terrible acting/attempt to mimic Elvira.

Cassandra Peterson is apparently in it, although playing a character, not as Elvira.

The Halal/Haram baseball caps that Kamran and Bruno put on really made me laugh 😄

It made them look like an interfaith couple, and I think I kind of ship them now.

I really adored this episode.  Totally stuck the landing.

  8. The one thing I wanted more than anything else was for them to do justice to the Goddess of Thunder story, and given how jokey the trailers were, I was worried.  But they played that part straight, and I walked out of the theater perfectly satisfied.  Natalie Portman kicked ass this time.

I am one that has not seen many TOS episodes at all ( just not  a fan of TOS). But I think I may have to watch to get a balanced take on this episode. Thanks for a good suggestion.

"Balance of Terror" is a truly gripping episode.  It's astonishingly well made, and you'll recognize some lines from this episode.

I do think they should have just gone for it and had James Frain play the Romulan commander.

Kirk is someone who makes logical intellectual and strategic decisions and passes them off as impulsive and emotional.

I've always thought that Kirk was kind of the middle path between Spock and McCoy.

I don't know if we see that with Paul Wesley's Kirk, because the dynamics that have shaped his life are so very different.

When I saw the episode description on Paramount, I just cringed, remembering Q-pid from TNG.

I was expecting/dreading a rehash of DS9's "If Wishes Were Horses" but this was so much better on basically every single level.

While I don't want to say that I'm glad they dispatched Rukiya, the idea of a kid on a pre-TNG starship really bugged me, even if she was only being pulled out of the transporter occasionally.  Since it turned out to be the happiest possible ending, I'm glad they went this route, rather than having M'Benga cure her and then have her running around the ship constantly.
