Two of the cases she was working on have Marvel name-drop references (Lee/Byrne, etc.)

The firm name is the same: Goodman (Martin Goodman, the founder of Timely/Marvel), Lieber (Stan's real last name), Kurtzberg (Jack Kirby's real name) and Holliway.

At first I thought that the other crew admiring the Cerritos was a collective fantasy.

    I did too.  I'm glad it wasn't.

I think my favorite part was seeing T'Ana being so gentle (by her standards, anyway) with Tendi to get her confidence back up.

I realized that they have Migleemo dressed like Paul F Tompkins.  The character is such a contrast to the rest of the crew.  They all may be fuck-ups, but they're all ultimately good at their jobs.  Migleemo is a terrible counselor.

  3. The movie dropped on streaming today, so I finally got to see it.  I am very glad I was alone in my office, because I had a good ugly cry over it.

I’m happy that it contains enough animation to be considered for a Best Animated Feature Oscar.  It deserves it.

  4. I was traveling last week and ended up finding an extremely cool comics shop in Sacramento.  I haven’t been inside one since well before COVID, and haven’t bought dead-tree comics in probably even longer.  But the experience was so cool I ended up indulging in the first three issues of The Sins of the Black Flamingo which Image is currently planning as a five issue mini, although I hope they consider giving it a sequel.  Best way I can describe it is “What if Hellblazer, but even more queer.”  The art, which reminds me a lot of JH Williams III is amazing too.

  5. One of, if not the, most well-deserved Oscars for Original Song.

It's also one of those rare movies that, no matter how bad a day I'm having, it can always make it better.

  6. There was some gorgeous animation in this one.  Not only the naked Cerritos, but also the theme park Phoenix.

It wouldn't have mattered how the rest of the episode went, I'd have loved it for the use of the First Contact theme.

  7. One change that I really liked was Hal going to New Jersey with Rose and Lyta (and landing hot Carl).  I always disliked that they had a falling out in the comic, because such a seemingly sweet guy turning into a total asshole seemed to come out of nowhere.

There were official Sandman spinoffs in the comics: The Dreaming and Lucifer.

Many more than that now.  They launched a line called Sandman Universe about five years ago, and have had a bunch of series an miniseries, although there's only one currently running: Nightmare Country, which is about the Corinthian.

In addition to Death: The High Cost of Living and Death: The Time of Your Life, Gaiman continued the story in The Dream Hunters, which is based on a Japanese folktale, the anthology Endless Nights, and Overture, which was a prequel.

It guts me that the severing of the DCU characters precludes us from getting an adaptation of "Facade."  Samantha Morton narrates and stars as Rainey Blackwell in the Audible drama, and it is heartbreaking.  Also, John Lithgow in "Three Septembers and a January."

We're also not likely to see Rowland and Paine, because HBOMax was developing a Dead Boy Detectives series for a while, although who knows if it will happen now.

  9. I imagine in a broad sense, they'd divide it into Preludes and Nocturnes/Doll's House, Season of Mists/A Game of You, and Brief Lives/Kindly Ones-Wake.  I wouldn't ultimately be surprised if they cut A Game of You, because that really does the least to advance the overall story, but they did go out of their way to show Barbie with Martin Tenbones, so it's at least been set up.  But I'd hate for them to jettison the short story collections.

Nah, I don't think this is the case at all.  The persecution component just isn't required in my view.  It's not what makes them who they are.

"One group had dedicated its wondrous abilities to protect mankind, even those who hate and fear them. Known to the world at large as outlaws, they are the X-Men"

That's Chris Claremont, writing the back cover of the Dark Phoenix Saga.

What I want from an MCU X-Men movie:

-Don't make it another movie about Wolverine, although that might be a lost cause.

-For the love of God, don't do a third take on the Dark Phoenix Saga, at least not without giving us adequate time to get to know Jean first.

  11. I don't know what this says about me, but while I don't like the way they've styled the Corinthian (the tank top and tight jeans are iconic), there is something unbelievably sexy about watching him interact with the men he's seducing.  Even with the fake Boogieman, it was incredibly steamy, although it's messed up on several levels.

Ken's dream was taking place in an indeterminate locale, but I don't think there is any particular reason to think that it wasn't where they live.

It looked very much like London, not Florida.
