  1. Now I feel like a rewatch from the very beginning is in order but 24 seasons should be around 290 episodes.... That's a solid 12 and a half days' worth of TAR goodness
  2. Yes! I was transported to some unpleasant memories bickering with my brother when we were on family holidays way back when. Granted we were just children then so I don't know about Jim's reference which I assumed was in regards with adult married couples
  3. Correct with the dentists. The surfers nabbed the EP during the London leg. After the boat punting in Oxford, they went to Christchurch College and was given bowlers and an umbrella. The EP instruction to Bear Inn was found when they open their umbrellas
  4. I don't live in America and used to watch TAR on AXN before broadband and after that, I just do 98% of series watching on my laptop so I can't answer how CBS handled that. As for tasks set in rain and snow, I can only recall slight drizzle when Jon and Kelly were on the beach in season 4 and during the toy rubber frog search in muddy fields in season 14. There have been plenty of challenges with snow since season 1 as the show has been using Alaska as a destination a number of times over the years. Snow challenges were usually constructed because of it instead of in spite of it. Other challenges that were affected by the weather that I can recall were again in season 14 when Margie passed out for a few seconds from heat stroke and season 22 when a few racers complained about the heat while performing a task on the beach in episodes 1 and 2. Strong winds have meddled in season 18 when the racers were asked to recreate a trailer home of some sort and they just had to work around the strong wind blowing everything they have placed by putting rocks on the props. Similar thing in season 19 when they had to set up chairs and umbrellas on the beach. I think the teams got through that by partly burying the chairs and umbrella legs into the sand. Then in season 23 Amy and Jason attempted to win the Fast Forward by doing a challenge with heights (I can't quite recall whether it was tight rope crossing or bungee jumping) and there were strong winds that made the task impossible. The guys in charge of the challenge advised them to wait for at least 10-15 minutes. I don't remember whether they waited or not but they definitely did not perform the task upon professional advice and went back to the regular detour/roadblock
  5. My dislike of the wrestlers are only activated while watching them instead of even in discussion like say, Brenchel in their initial season. I think they were pretty proactive ie running around in trying to get a taxi before the editing monkeys gave us that shot of them being stationary out of exhaustion or waiting to cross the road or something. I get out of breath after not even two minutes' worth of running at full speed. At this point I think I won't be disappointed with whichever team winning as much as the tepid top 3 last season although I favour a team or two quite strongly. As long as there's no majorly over dramatic breakdown from any of them. Here's looking to you Jim and Brooke
  6. Haaa had to look up season 12's eye candies, season 19's all over cast and a few other names. My obsession with this show is shameful. Really? Do you mind sharing a link if you have one? The last time I saw their FB pages, they were still very much together and all loved up. Well I liked Freddy a lot more than Kendra so I guess I can look forward to never hooking up with Freddy anyways
  7. It seemed so to me, at least so at the beginning. I think I didn't jump on the scientists' bandwagon because I saw a bonus clip of them from the first leg and they were talking over each other to Phil on the mat and that annoyed me because it felt a little forced. Like they obviously knew they were being filmed so they were being unnecessarily descriptive of that first leg. Kym and Alli may have done the same thing knowing how excited Kym can be sometimes but it bother me a lot less coz that's just who she is. And I guess I meant the scientists and the surfers collectively over the cyclists when I said 'a lot more'. Different folks different strokes though I have a harder time getting people who root for the dentists. Sure there are a lot of type As out there but I thought some competitive people don't enjoy that aspect of their personality and seeing Jim being all out intense would remind themselves to be more relaxed but alas. I sincerely wonder did these people root for Colin and Christie way back when coz those two were insane compared to mild ole Jimmy
  8. I tend to enjoy seasons with winners that I like but there were others with decent people but not so enjoyable winners. Of the first seven seasons, I would rank 6, 3, 4, 5, 1, 2 and 7 (Brian & Greg were the only redeeming reasons for this season). I know a lot of people dislike season 6 but I enjoyed it because I was an impressionable teenager who gawked at people with good looks (I think I've gotten better with that over the years). Kendra's supposed nastiness (I remember thinking she was just out of her elements and having no prior experience with the conditions in India and Africa - or whichever less desired locations in her eyes, I may not recalling it correctly - her remarks were understandable). But then I do give unnecessary leeway to people I deem attractive and I find her relationship with Freddy admirable. Yes I have daddy issues. I thought Kris and Jon were pretty boring, Rebecca and Adam amusing in their dysfunctional-ness and the only unpleasant racer was Hayden. She was high strung but so was Flo but I would still take Flo as a partner coz most of Flo's outbursts were due to KF but I found Hayden joyless as a person. I would watch chronologically if you were planning to start from the very beginning but that's just me being anal retentive. I didn't mind season 8 coz of the playful Lintzes and that funny Italian (?) family with frustrated mum, neutral dad and two boys as well as the family with a pair of kids coz of the cute girl (I think her most memorable line was 'I can do it, daddy!). The blonde sisters were despicable though. They were bullying each other throughout their stay. I think I might also be in the minority of liking BJ & Tyler. Season 10 was meh but the beauty queens and Rob and Kim made great eye candies. Tyler and James are good looking too but they were boring. Season 11 was unspeakable, 12 was another meh but pretty decent with the eye candies - the sisters, Lorena and Shana, 13's winner's a snoozefest though I really enjoyed the frat brothers bulldozering their way through the top 3 and TIna & Ken were interesting to watch for their bickering, unlike season 22's Chuck and Wynona. I liked season 14's top 3. Victor & Tammy were pleasant, I found Jaime incredibly hot that I kinda glossed over her ugly American-ness and Luke & Margie were interesting to watch. Season 15 was subpar, enjoyed season 16 for the brothers, cowboys, cops and the rivalry between the lesbians and 'such as' models. Season 17 was so-so except for THE FIRST EVER ALL FEMALE TEAM WINNING. Everyone thought it was the season for that to finally happen with Nat & Kat and Brook & Claire. Season 18's another unmentionable (All Stars have been crap all three times). I liked Cindy & Ernie but they're the only team I can recall from their season apart from Ethan & Jenna. Had to look up the other teams and Andy & Tommy's outing was one of the shockers TAR have had. Season 20 was pretty uneventful save for BB's Rachel irritating the living heck out of me and Dave & Rachel uptightness with each other. Really enjoyed season 21 with the shocker of winners, the colourful Chippendales, the twinnies' constant verge of annoying shrieks and the rest of the racers' vibe. Season 22 was underwhelming though I liked Jessica a lot and even more in her All Stars season. Season 23 was enjoyable coz of the cast's dynamic and everyone knows what a stinker last season was. This is one the very few current shows I still feverishly follow - reality or not - after all these years. Here's to another 25 seasons, 300 legs and more more more = )
  9. Ah I see, guess I didn't notice that since I just gave it a quick brush through. Pretty odd since AdBlock works totally fine for me on CBS, if only I can say the same thing about Hulu. I find these additional web features pretty annoying for the lack of access and order. I don't mind having to be online since I watch most stuff on my laptop anyways but the selected territories and all over site design are a big meh
  10. Do you have AdBlock on? If so it should get rid of the commercials on CBS but if you don't, I wonder how come your YouTube is not infested with those things. I'm still catching up on every 2 minutes videos on YouTube starting from the very beginning of the team introductions. I flipped through the newer clips to check out the chronology order and the episode and bonus clips mix you mentioned. I think they are in chronological order on YouTube, yes? If the episode and bonus clips are mixed then I would still much prefer YouTube coz I can simply skip to the next clip = )
  11. Interesting how they can become the second John & Jessica if they didn't beat T&T and of course if it wasn't an NEL. Either they were sure they can beat T&T or they didn't have further talks of using the pass or it got edited out. I'm still not sure of whipping that thing out first thing of the next leg ala the cowboys or save it to the second or third potentially harder task (since the racers wouldn't know what would be their final task of the leg prior getting to the clue directing them to the next pitstop) would be the better game plan. I can totally see someone like Jim not using it at all though for 'competitor's pride' or some other intense dude reasoning
  12. Anyone recalls if Phil did any pop up during the race this leg? Don't think I noticed it
  13. For those living outside the States can try installing Hola Better Internet on your browsers. It works better on Chrome for me. For some reason, I keep needing to install and uninstall it with each use on Firefox. Just for other references since thanks to those who pointed out the extra clips are also on YouTube, I've been using that coz of the much better player. The one on the CBS site keeps on having hiccups even with HBI
  14. I wonder if the other teams arriving after the cyclists and dentists at the airport parking saw Kym's little artwork on the car. Wish there's some clip on that. Wrestlers, stop mugging to fish for a reality show or whatever cheap entertainment you have in mind. Apologies to wrestling fans, there's a good reason there are sole channels dedicated for it. To steer me well clear from all that luke warm mess. Loving Kym more and more. She spoke pretty fluent French and now Italian? Bellisimo! Multilinguals are too sexy. Amy should get a medal for the way she runs. Very Buffay-esque in who cares about proper huff and puff running way, I'mma do me. I wonder if Brooke thinks complaining is the way to go in mugging for a reality show coz that team has been pretty conscious in staying in character (read be as dumb and obnoxious as possible). Rob slipped out a bit with connecting Sicily and Italy. Glad to see a little frustration between the surfers when looking for a taxi. They've been nothing but spewing unicorns and rainbows all season. Nothing wrong with that, just borderline bland. Eh thought Kym could speak Italian, how come Alli was doing that typical 'I'm speaking English with you verrryy slowly so I hope you're going to understand me' to that cabbie. That roadblock on the uneven rocky road with all the twists and turns are stuffs that make up my nightmare. I'll blaze through it maybe ten years ago but knowing better now.... *shudders* But the sweet ride afterwards looks absolutely terrific. The whole thing keep reminded me of Grace Kelly. Kym's chattiness IRL may grate a little bit but it was kinda cute when the poor driver played shrink and just listened to her babbling away about her life plans. Loves how she just planted one on his cheek when the guy just expected a handshake haha yeaa she's officially my girl crush. When Brooke was so gleeful about Maya having to do another round of the go-kart, I wished she had to repeat it endlessly and wail her way to Philimination. Adam is actually borderline attractive without Bethany. Just that shared look of admiration for the car's performance with the driver is such a dude thing. How lovely is Brooke with all that mocking of the driver? She reminds me of a girl in college I continuously wanted to strangle. That arms bump Kym and Alli had during the painting is one of those cute things you have with your close friends. Really enjoying this team as they remind me of my friends and I. SOOO glad it was an NEL. Please let it be the wrestlers next and I wouldn't mind losing the scientists much either. This is exactly why I prefer to binge watch the race once the season finishes - the wait is annoying. Up side is the leg in Malta looks like it's going to be pretty physically challenging
  15. By far my favourite team this season. I've had hits and misses with teams I root for so my rather brilliant prediction is they can win or they can lose. I find Kym's outgoing-ness as an attractive attribute and I thought a lot of people would gravitate towards her personality so I'm actually quite surprised that a lot more on this forum prefer the scientists and surfers' more chilled out attitude. The scientists have their little funny moments but I find the surfers pretty bland at least from the edit
  16. Sorry I'm so late to the party, just managed to catch up the first half of the season. As some of you have mentioned, Misti and Jim have thrown me on a loop too in trying to peg them down. My predictable first impression was 'he's such a typical 'roid junkie and she's the requisite Barbie companion' but then finding out they were dentists totally threw me off (I kinda have a thing for people with MDs, it's a childhood thing) but alas, I've been enjoying moments they have been proving me wrong. I was dead sure he was Jonathan reincarnation just waiting to be unleashed but I really do hope the Jim we've been seeing is the real Jim and not what we've been expecting from his physical appearance (on and off camera for Misti's sake). For some reason I don't see much of Colin in him from the get go - perhaps because Colin was considerably smaller in size and I don't recall Colin abusing Christie too much, definitely not as repulsive as Jonathan had been and I thought Jim was gonna be a lot more physically controlling with Misti instead of mentally like Lake and Michelle. He then reminded me of Rob of Rob & Kimberly - intense guy but still affectionate with his partner after a couple of episodes. Colin and Christie were such loveless robots. He was competitive in a miserable way whereas Jim's approach is more like a sportsman - super competitive but he wasn't throwing tantrums when things didn't go his way. He tried to solve the problem at hand and vowed to perform and focus better in the next leg. Having said all that, I'm sure that shiny Save pass would help one not to lose his cool easily. I think there are two main reasons Jim has managed to control his what may or may not be there temper. Firstly as someone has mentioned before, they have a pretty substantial practice back home which should be reason enough for any professional to behave. Then I think they have watched enough previous seasons as how ugly some racers can be so this is applicable to all non gimmicky recruits. Although arguably if you're a hot head, you're a hot head. It's so nice too see level headed racers so far this season (except for the whiny Brooke but she hasn't grated on me too much) so far. I only managed to catch pretty extreme tasks in the next six episodes' sneak peek so hopefully there's no major meltdowns or fights because of killer fatigue. On a shallow note, I actually couldn't fathom Misti's attraction towards Jim as I thought she was considerably more attractive and I still get creeped out by the thought of having those eyes anywhere near me but if it was caused by an actual medical condition, then I'm an ass. Although they did look much more compatible in some younger pictures of them from links in previous posts, when his skin wasn't a shade of oompa loompa. Misti has struck me as a pretty efficient racer if she wasn't as jumpy around Jim. I thought it was more of her nervous energy to impress him instead of being scared of him. Like a melded version of Dustin and Kandice for all that blonde pageanting and teeth and Nat and Kat for the doctoring bit (although they had lots of teeth and some blonde in between them too). They definitely reminded me of Nicole & Travis too partly because of the doctor thing and remarkably with the man in the driver's seat dynamic. That team crashed and burned terribly when Nicole finally succumbed in trying so hard not to fail instead of focusing on the task at hand. Nicole mentioned how their relationship developed from teacher-student to husband-wife that led Travis to sometimes be condescending to her and wanting everything to be perfect. I wonder if Misti and JIm were in the same class as she had mentioned Jim had the highest scores when they were in school together and from their various profiles, I don't think there are more than three years in their age gap. Yes I'm far too invested in this. Blame it on the amazing editors! They seem to pick up on small things that make me read way too much into. Sorry for the ramble!
  17. I have only managed to catch up from the first episode. Maybe the fact of knowing what she does for a living but that Amy is my definition of white girl nerd down pat, not that it's a bad thing. I thought what Maya did with the butter churning movement was a pretty simple, any decent lay man logic (mugging pro wrestling couple not included) after being there for awhile. Sorry for being a bit off topic but also the same logic applied by team T&T when they chose to set the tent up detour. I figured to lay the sheets over the stick then raise the stick up when they first showed Kym and Alli opting to do it the hard way. Same thing with the fringe twisting hat - once you get the rhythm going, you just stick with the direction and pace instead of doing clock and anti-clock wise spins although Maya did have a problem just to get the hat to stick on. I hope I didn't come off as an insufferable git but most of my logical thinking just come from mostly my laziness and also being physically limited - too short to care. Having said all that, I'd probably make the biggest buffoon out of myself if I ever was on the race coz my most trusted go to method in solving problems in a chaotic environment is to **** it and cave in to panic attacks
  18. Here's what I found from another forum: But I wouldn't put your theories past the locals either
  19. Ha! Or Bell's Palsy. A bit off topic but there's a Russell Peters stand up piece you can easily find on handicapped people. I hope our world isn't too hell bent on being so PC that anyone would actually take offence on innocent comments like this
  20. Well, what in the actual *uck was that? Never have I been so underwhelmed by the F3. Ditto about the mentally stunted CGs screaming foul 'You're mean, you're mean' everytime the goalie actually did his job. Fine. To be fair I could only recall Caroline committing all the 'We're girls, we're so hopeless' crimes. But Jennifer is so smug with their notion of a good racer that I'm almost impressed by their overall dire lack of self awareness. Oh well, at this point I'm pretty certain they can just sit there doing nothing and I would still *itch to my screen of how useless they are. Their uselessness is so infuriating to the point that I get unnecessarily invested in rooting for Brenchel just cause. Can't wait for this season to be over and get done with. And to think there were times I still enjoyed some earlier episodes with the cowboys ('We're like butter.... we're on a roll' is going on to my permanent useful pun list) is just pure shame
  21. Caroline spent some college years in Spain. Wooeffinghoo. Finally (I hope) a leg with the blondes being not so hapless. Granted if the prior legs weren’t designed to their advantage (what would though with their very limited skills). Bitchy I could handle. Hapless, skill-less bitchy is just pathetic. Pretty boring leg thus far ‘cept for when those barbers start popping ‘em balloons when the time was up. The look on Jamal’s face alone is price. less. Dave is surprisingly pleasant when interacting with those he deem as quality people (singing with Leo although even considering the cousins as quality poeple is a flaw on its own). The cousins have always been mild chauvinists so it’s little to no surprise Jamal talked almost braggingly about his face full of hair vs the one on Connor’s head. Men with proud beard complex are a bit odd to me. Ok you can grow chin hair. Bra*uckingvo. That little opera singing man and the balloons popping happy barbers would bug me so bad if I had to do the RB. I wouldn’t put slitting my wrist beyond me. Brenchel has that weird dynamics. Somebody commented how Brendon has to talk all nice and calm like a father to his child in order for Rachel to focus. Whatever works for them. As long as they don’t come back for another season please. I was fretting how many seasons do we have to hear about Dave if he manages to fracture any part of his frail 60 year old body during that bull ballz DT. The Afghanimals really lived up to their name with those bull sounds. A definite non-compliment. That wrong entrance Jet and Cord took looked so silly since there was a crowd heading towards the right one but I could totally see myself making the same mistake. Then the sight of them walking around looking for the clue is too cute. They looked like a pair of 10 year old brothers having a stroll. That local giving a good snark eye to the Afghanimals had me laughing, so did the cousins rolling around screaming ‘Retreat’! They’re kinda funny when they’re not trying too hard to hog camera time. Falling pants are hilarious too. That wrong entrance seem to be costly both time and energy wise. The running bullz DT looks pretty rough that I almost didn’t mind Dave’s old man cry and Rachel’s I’m a girl whine. They were really going for it with the cousins and Brendon. I think the trick is to fall on the bubble body bit (say that really fast ten times) instead of your knees. Wonder how the bubble body is constructed. It looked pretty reliable to bounce on. Jet is really smart. I would have taken the second clue for granted and go on the rest of the DT not realizing about the missing first one. Then Cord screamed ‘that’s my brother’ to avenge Jet from one of the bulldozers was just a really nice gesture. Dave is DRA. MA. Personified. He should use that as a stage name. Being proud of your child is one thing. Breaking into tears everytime anyone asks about him is a whole different level of smarmy. Dunno much about the right dancing attire but I thought the cowboys’ boots were pretty badass for the flamenco routine. Ah, lucky flamenco instructor. I wanna hold on to Jet and Cord like that too. Just the thought of them attempting that routine was hilarious enough, let alone actually witnessing it. I just about keeled over when the brothers started to sashay their hips to elimination. Oh I already miss their positive smiling racing faces already. So long boys. This has been quite the tepid season even without you not making the final three
