  1. 5/5 Woohoo! I knew some, but lucky guessing got me the rest.
  2. I'm so behind! 4/5 for last week!
  3. That was so strange! I laughed so much reading that book. Loved it. I thought Catch-22 was so obvious that everyone would get it. Boy was I wrong! Now that I'm reading posters guesses, I can see how they'd be reasonable possible answers.
  4. 2/5 Felt like a hard week, I think because I had no idea three days in a row (Tuesday, Wednesday and Thursday)
  5. 4/5, no asterisk. I guessed The Factory.
  6. 3/5 one * For me, deal is definitely one syllable. But now that it's been mentioned, I can kind of recall hearing it as 2. (East coast, Canada)
  7. That's what I thought! But I wasn't sure. I said Rosebud instantly, then got as far as The Graduate just as the music ran out. I didn't get to 'plastics'.
  8. Just watched last night's game, and I did get FJ. Go me! I think it may be one of those times where knowing less is an advantage. New Deal is one of only a few things I know about FDR. It makes frequent appearances in crossword puzzles.
  9. 4/5, with an * The * was a total guess - just blurted out a general. Love it when that works!
  10. Not just you! An easy crossword wouldn't give that much info for 'amie' - it would be 'friend, in Paris' or something like that. A more obscure French location for a hard crossword, maybe. Jim Bridger (I have no idea who that is). I knew it was Davy Crockett. Movies / tv shows about him were in constant rotation at my house growing up
  11. I thought cubism was so obvious it must be wrong, but I stuck with it in the end. Phew, I guess the word 'shape' in the clue jumped right out at me!
  12. That was hard to watch. Glad he made it to FJ.
  13. I also wondered if his Canadian-ness made it a harder clue, although this Canadian got it right. I don't think I've ever seen Lincoln Logs in real life.
  14. The clue was about Nostromo. I actually liked Heart of Darkness! ETA: what @MrAtoz said 😉
  15. I got the missed DD of Captain Nemo (he didn't even guess a name starting with 'N'!!!!) and ts Joseph Conrad. I hated that book so much, and I don't remember a thing about it, but I remembered the author! I got FJ, but I didn't know what novel it was from.
  16. Cartilage and Lewis Carroll completely shocked me.
  17. At least you're not alone! 1/5 and 0* for me, too.
