At the same time, I've never known anyone to take two weeks off work to grieve a spouse's parent.  Something seemed odd to me about that.

Technically she only took a bit over a week off. She left rehearsals on Saturday and the funeral was the following Monday.

Did anyone else notice that they changed the order in the 2nd half compared to the 1st half? They switched Hannah and Sean, and pushed Ally to the end instead of Kel.

George Pennachio tweeted that the order for the second round would change, so it was planned.

  3. This is me, doing the Bye Bye Bye dance. Thank God he's gone.

The judges were totally overscoring Ally tonight. I didn't think either of her dances were worthy of a perfect score, let alone both of them. I don't know if they were trying to keep her out of the bottom 2, knock Spicy out or both but since he's gone, I'll take it.

LOL at Erin looking so devastated when they voted Spicy off. She really took those Twitter trolls to heart that were calling her out for looking sad that he was still on and she's been bending over backwards since then to play the role of Spicy's biggest fan.

I would like Lauren a whole lot more if she wasn't paired with Gleb. I can't root or vote for her because of that. He just skeeves me out.

I wonder if they'll consider bringing back the spring season to make up for the fiasco of this season. I think that's a big part of why people are losing interest in the show. Once a year mediocre seasons aren't really a reason to stay invested.

WTF is Cher doing the finale?!?

James or Kel for the win!

There are most likely some people who like to vote for the worst dancers as well. It is entertainment for some to see those who can't dance. Like on American Idol it was entertaining in the beginning of every season to see people who couldn't sing, try out.

Remember the  old Vote for the Worst website?

In our current crop of pros, Peta is the only one I can think of who is vocally anti Trump.  Val is questionable as he's a "both sides" guy more than anything and Pasha/Daniella are too new for me to know.

I believe Peta is only anti Trump because Maks is. Otherwise, I'm not sure which way she'd lean.

The celebs, yes, I think some of them may be putting on a front to get through this.  Off the top of my head, I know Hannah, Sailor, Karamo and Kate are politically at the opposite end of the spectrum from Sean's former boss.  Probably others too, but those are the ones who have posted things that make it pretty clear.

Christie Brinkley is definitely a huge Democrat. She and Billy Joel both do a lot of stuff for the party out in the Hamptons, though Billy is more quiet about it.

P.S.  And I can't totally despise everything Spicer did before DWTS.  If not for him, we would have never had the totally knee-slapping, piss-your-pants hysterical on point mocking imitation of him by Melissa McCarthy.  I'd shake his parents' hands for that alone.

The biggest travesty of this season is that SNL hasn't had Melissa on to do a skit about it.

Agree with this. I've long thought that about the pros, there is nobody that really stands out. And the "stars" they cast get more and more obscure every year.

I don't think this season will actually kill the show, the ratings are about steady with last season. But I do think they need to limit it to once a year, and they need to get some of the more popular pros like Derek and Mark back, no matter how much money it takes. Then really try to get some bigger "stars" to compete, even if it means paying them.

And, of course, avoiding the casting of politically polarizing "celebs."

I've said the same about the pros. She wasn't my favorite, but when she danced I couldn't take my eyes off Karina. Maks, when he liked his partner and threw himself into it, was also impossible to keep your eyes off. Tony, Anna, Edyta, even Louis -- just on a different level than these current pros, who really don't do much for me.

She loves the brothers, including  the ugly younger one, and yes she's tweeted for them.

Yes she loves the brothers but I promise you she has never tweeted for them. Certainly not since she joined the show as co-host. I know this because my friends and I used to always comment about how none of Maks's former partners ever tweeted their support for him or for anyone to vote for him.

    12 minutes ago, spanana said:

They also want him gone because they know they are in trouble if he wins. I don't think TPTB care that much that he's still there, but Sean winning will be like Bobby x 100.  It would basically be the death of the show because good luck getting anyone non political to sign up after that.  It's not just because viewers are outraged, do you think Hollywood people are going to continue to sign on after Bones and then worse, Spicer?

The show loves still having him around. It's all anyone is talking about today.

    11 minutes ago, boyznkatz said:

You know, I wasn't even that upset about Bones winning because he had legitimate fans who voted for him. But sadly, this show has sunk to a new level. I would like to see it come back, but I'm not sure they can recover from this season.

I'm not either, especially after all their talk about preventing what happened last season from happening again and bringing in a new producer to see to that. Personally I'm not a political person and I see enough of that crap as it is. I watch DWTS to get away from it -- but here it is, having totally overtaken the show and every conversation about it.

That's ridiculous. Butt out Erin , stirring the pot is so you. She danced with Maks you know( barf)

Butt out of what? The guy tweeted at her and made her feed blow up before she responded to him.

33 minutes ago, Sarah Heart said:

I wasn't making a comparison,  Erin brings up the fact she danced with Maks, how hard it was etc etc nearly every week ad nauseam, she also goes on Twitter to encourage votes for the brothers. As a host, imnsho, she should sthu. You never see Tom doing this, because he's class.

Erin has never gone on Twitter and encouraged votes for Maks or Val. She didn't do it before she became co-host and she certainly hasn't done it since.

Even the judges 6s didn't do a damn thing to bring Spicer's votes down. 😡 If these idiot producers haven't learned anything from this and last season, then ABC should just clean house and hire new producers that know what the hell they're doing.

They did hire a new show runner this season. He sucks.

    2 hours ago, ClareWalks said:

The judges can whine all they want but they're the ones consistently overscoring Sean. Giving him 6s is way too generous for what that was. If they really wanted to get rid of him they'd give him such low scores that the votes couldn't save him. As it stands I bet we lose (at least) Lauren and Kel before Sean is finally put to pasture 😞

I think they're afraid to score him any lower and rile up even more people who think he's being treated "unfairly."

  11. If you want to know who's voting for Sean, just look at all the "I'm going to keep voting for Sean because it's pissing them off!" tweets floating around on Twitter.

You can say it's a fun dance competition that doesn't involve politics, but when you bring in a person tied to politics, especially one so controversial, it becomes an issue that affects the show. This is Bristol Palin all over again. The problem this time is that the show did NOT need this after last season's fiasco, especially after they promised all these changes to prevent it from happening again. I would not be surprised at all if the show can't recover from this and this is the last season. And if that happens, they have the casting department and this new showrunner to thank for that.

That being said, I also did not see the slip up in James' dance. But he seemed to acknowledge it so I guess it did happen.

Bruno and Len made the right choice. I'm not sure what Carrie Ann was thinking, other than she didn't want to hurt Karamo's feelings by making it unanimous.

I missed all the pranks this year. The ones they showed before commercial breaks were lame. I always enjoy the live on-the-air ones.

I also missed the type of team dances where each couple had a solo. Too much production in these team dances now, rather than the three couples dancing of the old days.

Didn't care for the opening number at all. Just seemed to be a bunch of people rolling around on the floor in Halloween costumes. Couldn't even tell who was who.

I'm really discouraged at what this season is turning out to be.

Now THAT looks green in the photo. The pants did not look anything like that on my TV. I must admit, I was wrong. Those pants are certainly green. It even says so in the article!

To be fair, when she and Tom first walked out, I thought they were gold too. But by the time they got down the stairs, all I saw was puke green LOL.

What was up with Erin in those pants doing the crotch squat during every interview. Does she do that when she's wearing a gown? It was like a HMV move with both feet on the ground.

I think it's because she towers over just about everyone. Probably just not as noticeable in a ballgown.

The top three are still on one team, though. And Lauren is only 0.2 points behind Kel. Karamo and Sean by far have the lowest scores. That doesn't sound very fair.

Not sure why they didn't go two guys and two girls.

So they put the four worst dancers on the same team?

Cumulatively, Kel has a higher score than Lauren.

    Rank
    1 Hannah & Alan 23.0

    1 James & Emma 23.0

    3 Ally & Sasha 22.7

    4 Sailor & Val 22.2

    5 Kel & Witney 22.0

    6 Lauren & Gleb 21.8

    7 Kate & Pasha 21.7

    8 Karamo & Jenna 19.8

    9 Sean & Lindsay 16.3

    10 Mary & Brandon 16.0

    11 Ray & Cheryl 15.0

    12 Lamar & Peta 12.0

  15. Teams for next week, per the ABC Press Release. I wish they would've flip-flopped James and Sean.

Team Trick:  James & Emma, Ally & Sasha, Lauren & Gleb, Hannah & Alan

Team Treat: Karamo & Jenna, Kel & Whitney, Sean & Lindsay, Kate & Pasha.

That being said, I don't think she deserved all 9s on her dance.

So she probably expected to stay with those scores!

This week's voting was combined with last week's. I wonder if the judges purposely overscored Sailor knowing she was near the bottom 2 in order to try to push her over Sean. If so, it backfired.

    13 minutes ago, iMonrey said:

If the show really did get a lot of blowback from last season's winner they clearly didn't learn anything, because they couldn't resist the temptation of casting someone controversial like Spicer as a ratings grab gimmick. They had to be fully aware of how that would play out. If they thought their new "system" would balance that out they didn't think it through.

I think this new show runner sucks. The changes he's made have all backfired -- the judge's save, the loss of creative control of the dancers, and especially the casting. And I remember thinking he was so arrogant in his first interview.

I agree, I could believe how many times I caught her squatting down to talk to the dancers & it didn't look good.

I remember back when she was a contestant she and Maks talked about her bow-leggedness and you could really see it in some of her dances.

I kept wondering what Sailor would have been if she had "found her own" instead of being forced in to modeling because of her mother.  What would Sailor Cook have become?

I recently read an interview with her where she said she wanted to be a photographer.

ITA that her life has been forced by her mother. She got the Christie looks in the family. Alexa is the spitting image of Billy Joel. I used to feel bad for Alexa but I think now she's the one who lucked out not having to live in her mother's shadow.

On a separate note, the pro number for tour.  The second it started and saw the dancing and that of course Jenna was front and center I knew it had to be a Mandy routine and I was right.  It wasn't just Jenna, it was the whole boring style of it.  I wish they would venture out in their tour choreographers.  I've seen more interesting work from the guest choreographers this season than I've seen from Mandy in years.  It also looked sloppy.

I was thinking about going to the tour this time (haven't been since 2009) but that number turned me off. Not only did I not care for it, but there was Jenna front and center again. And the Val/Jenna and Sasha/Emma pairings. I know these people are married but I don't want to see them dance together all the time. I actually like Val dancing with Lindsay, Emma and even Witney better than with Jenna. Much like his brother and his wife, I don't think Val has an ounce of chemistry with Jenna.
