They are now expecting a baby as well.  Nikki's twin sister Brie is also expecting (her second child) - their due dates are around the same time.

I'm happy for them both, especially Nikki as she has wanted to be a mom for a long time but John Cena didn't want them.

I'm happy for them, but I just don't see it lasting. I think she's a walking publicity machine.

    Artem and Nikki are engaged.

These two are a perfect example of why I just laugh and cringe at obviously forced and fake showmances (let's never forget Alan/Alexis or hell Maks/Meryl). Because there was obviously nothing romantic going on between the two when Nikki did the show, because she was still engaged to John Cena.

But I remembered watching one of their rehearsal packages and just getting this feeling that if she wasn't with someone, I could see them being together. They weren't being flirty or anything. It was just this ease they had about them.

I'll be shocked if they actually go through with a wedding. She seems to be a real publicity hound.

That's been the plan for over a year now. DWTS is only going to be a once-a-year thing, the same as all other versions have always been. So we won't see it again until September 2020.

Which means even more people will lose interest. Let's see if it even comes back in the fall.

Any time somebody carries on about how HOT and SMOKING somebody's dance was, I want to tell them to get back to me on that after they've checked out Gilles and Cheryl's Argentine Tango.  My second favorite was the Kryptonite Quickstep.

You can blame Emmitt Smith for the Gilles and Peta pairing.  The deal was to be that the runners up got their original partners and all of the champions got a new one.  Until Emmitt pulled a prima donna move and refused to do the show unless he got Cheryl.

I really do think that's part of what led to his ouster, people really wanted to see G&C back together and he couldn't go along with the plan like everybody else.  That, plus the level of dancing had grown by leaps and bounds from his season to all stars.

I loved Carson on this show, he totally "got it" and Anna was the perfect partner for him.

The problem was also that Gilles and Peta had zero chemistry and they attached themselves to Maks and Kirstie. I adored Gilles during his season and grew to detest him during All-Stars.

All this talk about the freestyle dances got me interested in looking at some past dances!  WOW some of those were amazing!!  Some of the ones I saw last night that I loved were: (in no particular order LOL)

Bindi and Derek, Lindsey and Mark, Rashad and Emma, Alfonso and Whitney, Jordan and Lindsay, Rumor and Val, Nyle and Peta, Shawn and Mark,  even Erin and Maks (because they started the whole contemporary dance craze).

What do y'all think- do these surpass this years dances?

No competition at all. I hate all the extra dancers they're allowed to throw in now. Half the time you lose the couple competing with all the professionals out there.

Totally agree. That was such a fun freestyle. I loved it. Also, Peta looked so different then, better.

Karina actually choreographed Donald's freestyle, I believe.

I need to watch those!  I have not watched all the seasons but I’m enjoying catching some of these.

Make sure to watch Karina and JR's too. Another dance I loved and still watch over and over? The pro tribute to Michael Jackson.

Critique the performance but to go as low as calling Her a whore or a  bitch etc was too much.

Huh? What on earth are you talking about? Carrie Ann never called Hannah a whore or a bitch or any other name?!?

I loved Alfonso and Rashad’s freestyles as well. Also, Drew Lachey’s, Donald Driver’s and Shawn Johnson’s (with Mark).

I watched Shawn and Mark's last night too. Apolo and Julianne & JR and Karina as well. And though it's not the fast, high-energy freestyle I usually like, I loved Erin and Maks's freestyle because lyrical contemporary was something we'd never seen on the show before.

STFU! So out of every single season there has NEVER been the kind of shock she witnessed in the ballroom? I can think of at least 5 more wins way more shocking. She's trying to say Bobby's win wasn't as shocking?

Really Carrie Ann? You honor the viewer votes? You mean the way you kept saving Ally, who couldn't get the viewer votes to stay out of the bottom 2 even when she had the top score?

I actually love fast freestyles (Witney/Alfonso & Emma/Rashad are my very faves) but I remember when we first saw Nyle could actually dance and was becoming a real favorite, I predicted that no one would stand a chance against him in the finale if he came out doing some emotional contemporary. That dance with Peta still gives me chills. It was predictable but really told a story.

Oh wow! Those are two of my most favorite freestyles and I watched both of them last night on YouTube after this snoozefest of a finale.

One, two people from the franchise have now won - Hannah and Melissa.

I'm not so sure it was Melissa who won, but rather Tony. That's around when the "mirrorball for every pro!" surge seemed to start. I wasn't a huge fan of hers, but Shawn Johnson should have won All-Stars.

  11. As soon as I saw The Bachelor commercial with the return of Hannah, I knew what the outcome would be. Len's ridiculous scoring of Kel's freestyle confirmed it. What a complete farce of a season. Not at all what they needed after the fiasco of last season.

And when I saw the four finalists were going on tour and James was not, last week's clusterf*ck became a lot more obvious.

This season will go down with Season 18 as the most manipulated season in the history of the show. It will also go down with Season 18 as my least favorite season because of that.

Unless they bring in someone amazing next season (if there even is a next season), my days of watching this show are over. I don't need to invest 10 minutes, let alone in 10 weeks, in this kind of blatant manipulation and aggravation. I mean, come on...Carrie Ann said there was a mistake in Hannah's freestyle and she still gave her a 10? They're not even trying to hide it anymore. And I'll be damned if I'm going to let some silly reality show try to pull my strings like that.

The highlight of this season has for sure been coming here and reading all the comments. Thank you all for the small bit of enjoyment this season brought. Regardless of what happens with the show and my viewing habits, please feel free to keep in touch and message me at any time. 🙂

    dramatization of a reality show

I think this is the problem. It's a reality show, it's produced and manipulated, it always has been. But within limits. Now it's so overproduced and overmanipulated that it's really not even believable anymore.

Speaking of double elimination; how did we get through this season without one? Is no double elimination the reason we have a four person finale?

Must be because remember they didn't eliminate anyone on Disney week, so at some point there should've been one.

It sort of reminded me of Alfonso Ribeiro's semi-finals performance. He didn't have a family tragedy but he was hampered by an injury and wasn't at his absolute best. For the first dance, they were kind in the comments but didn't give him all 10s, but then did with the second dance (it helped that the second dance was a contemporary but still.) They didn't sandbag because he was having one off night.

But ABC had big plans for Alfonso!

This is probably really out there, but they announced that Bahamas weekend this week. Rashad, Ginger and Joey Fatone are joining it, and they said to check back for stars from this season who would be joining. We know how much the show loves having the winner on tour, so I wonder if they sandbagged James knowing if he made it to the final he'd win, but he wouldn't be going on their silly little weekend getaway (which can be yours for over $1000, but that doesn't include airfare or meals!).

I was really taken aback by the critiques after that cha cha, and not with the fact that there was critique -- that's fair given Emma's failure to deliver on what Len asked for and given some of James's performance issues -- but that they delivered NOTHING positive. How frequently do they fail to add some little "This was really nice though" to soften the blow? Sean more or less got consistently kinder feedback than what that was.

I remember a few times that Derek openly went against the judge's wishes or the "rules" of a dance but back in those days, the judges didn't have the final say and he was going for the "wow factor" with the voters. It usually worked.

The more I think about it, the angrier I become. The judges keeping someone who, despite her overly inflated scores that put her at the top of the leaderboard STILL falling to the bottom 2, negates the viewers votes for the overall season and gives the judges ALL the power. What is the point of having fans vote if the judges are going to have the final decision despite what the fan voting is telling them?

It's all been said already -- they've overinflated Ally's scores for weeks and haven't given her one bit of critique. I was texting with a friend during the show and after the Charleston I said to her that if that dance got a perfect score, then we knew the fix was in to get Ally into the finals. Bam. Perfect score. It couldn't be more obvious. Or more blatant. I don't think I've ever seen a season where the judge's favoritism and manipulation was so blatant.

If the show comes back after this season, and I still don't think it will,, they need to kick this new show runner as far away as they can. In 10 weeks, he's managed to totally ruin the show.

In regards to Ally- 3 times she's on the bottom and 3 times saved- it's clear that America isn't connecting to her and that's fine. It's not like the other 4 dancers were bad that you needed to keep her.

If the judges are able to save someone who the viewers didn't vote for THREE SEPARATE times, then why not eliminate the audience vote and give it all to the judges? After all, isn't that what they just did?

So he gets sent home. Well, show, that's the end of this season for me. There are Andy Griffith reruns on the other channel. That's where I'll be next week and every week after that. Maybe I'll see some of you guys around other threads.

I love Andy Griffith reruns! Watch them every night!

  17. What an absolute bullshit show tonight. How many times are the judges going to save Ally from the bottom 2? Clearly she doesn't have the fan support to go all the way and especially after hearing what James just went through and knowing why he was off tonight. Utter bullshit.

I've been saying it all season and I'll say it again. I don't think the show will be back after this season. They screwed up in too many ways coming off the joke of last season. The judges making the final call, the lack of voting outside the ET/CT zones, the whole Spicer fiasco. I would truly be shocked if the show is back and if it is, I really don't know that I'll be watching it. This show used to be fun enjoyment. Now it's just one huge ball of WTF?

    Kel for the win.

Why didn't Sharna's fans rally when Charlie White was her partner?

There's a big difference between Season 18 and Season 27. I think as each season went on and people like Emma, Lindsay and Witney won, her fans became even more determined to see her win. Besides, was any group of fans able to overcome the obsessive group of fans of the fauxmance of the century?
