I was expecting Sean to ask Claire out on a date!  So his asking Carly out was a twist for me!  Amusing that he just laughed and skipped away, forgetting to give her the flowers and chocolate.

I got the biggest kick out of him with the flowers and candy and walking away with them.... That was too cute.

While I am happy it all got resolved, it was just too neat and tidy a bow on the season.... Nothing left hanging  for next season....

  2. Finally watched Summer House last night.... I did miss the Wirkus girls.    I don't care of Kyle cheated on Amanda at all and it really is no one else's business.  Looking at you Lindsey.

I didn't miss snarky Steven one bit.

Lindsey's boob job is a little saggy looking.  Her hair is dreadful.  She is so much prettier with the haircolor she had on the last 2 seasons.

Carl... he'll be back to his old ways before we know it.  I have confidence in that for sure...

The whole get some "d" thing is disgusting to talk about -- though I don't mind if that is their whole goal - why talk about it so crudely.  Just say "hook up" and leave it to our imaginations.

I hope the season gets more engaging in upcoming episodes....

And, best of all, Kate actually noticed that something was off with Kevin, and went to check on him! Kevin was almost dead on his feet last time he was spiraling into addiction before anyone noticed something was up with him, and had to endanger another family member to get anyone to notice he was in trouble, so at least now everyone knows whats up. And Kate actually went off to help him

Weird question, but I was very distracted in the scenes with Kate.  It looked like she got smacked and had a bump on her right cheek (left facing the camera).  I first noticed it when she was in bed and Toby woke her up, but it was still there during the graduation.  Don't know if it was camera angles or what but I never noticed that before.  Am I the only one who saw it?

NO! It was bugging me and I couldn't decide if it was her cheek bone or a zit or a bruise.

Many people in this thread are presuming the commission spot is a full time position. I live in Florida and have done a lot work with city commissions and local government councils. While city official roles vary, the vast majority of local government officials have full time jobs. In many cases, they are practicing attorneys, doctors, etc. I don’t think of a commissioner as a full time position.

Agreed - I do think in larger cities the pay is better and they are more full-time.  I know in the small town I grew up in, it was a very part-time job which pretty much just had "stipend" type money vs a true "salary".  I notice someone mentioned the pay in Philly is mid 6 figures so likely FT.

On point 4 above, I love our girl Beth…but she has to own some part of this (not that I liked Randall’s speech to her in the least).

I thought he was going to quit too and I was terribly shocked that he didn't.  I do think Beth should have volunteered to switch of night classes asap.  I believe parents should actually raise their own children instead of dumping them off on sitters, grandparents and siblings.  Thus why I do not have any children!  I think this dream is a stupid addition to the show.  Their girls aren't even in dance (that we know of) which is odd given it was Beth's "dream".    And all those years she wasn't working outside the home before the job she was just terminated from?  Why wouldn't she have danced or taught dance then?  That would have been much more plausible than how it was introduced to us now... I am not buying "dream" - I am calling it her shady way to escape from corporate America since she is scared of failing again....

Also - if this is a bona fide, actual "dream" -- I seriously doubt that mid year a dance studio had all kinds of openings for teachers.  Most seem to follow the school calendar and it would be "next semester/season" before a new teacher would be needed.  I could see her subbing in for teachers as a start to get back into dance.  At which point, the girls could go to the studio with her and hang in the "office" or "lounge" and do homework.

Since all the obvious topics have been covered, I'll just jump in to say I was mildly surprised Kate didn't take Toby's last name (whatever it may be) when they got married. Although of course being a Pearson is the awesomest thing ever, and why wouldn't she want to keep her dad's name? I guess I just saw her being more traditional. But nope, Kate Emily Pearson got her diploma.

I am not sure we've ever heard his last name spoken....

I still believe  that they shouldn't have had kids if they were going to  put their careers, passions, first, ahead of their kids.  Even as teenagers, those kids maybe able to take care of themselves, but they can also get into all sorts of trouble or go through a lot of issues that their parents never hear about because their parents are too self-involved.

    Agreed...

My favorite parts were of the big 3 as babies and showing Kevin hanging onto/reaching out for Kate.  I almost didn't recognize Miguel at the graduation.   I can fanwave a lot but glad they are addressing Randall and Beth's financial situation.

Rebecca should have insisted that Kate walk her high school graduation.  You would think she would do everything in her power to help things go smoothly instead of rocking the boat had she been anyone other than Kate...

  4. I like that he had a separate reason for bringing down Quovadis.  I think he knows if he can do it "right" - it really can be successful and he can buy out the shady guy and the shady guy practices/policies and make it a respectable money making company....  I don't see this as him being "bad" or turning....  I see it as very in his character to see it from a financial standpoint.

But she didn't have to make Beth stop dancing. She could've danced non-competitively. That didn't even seem like an option with Beth's mom.

I think it was all about the money and practicality.   Non competitive dancing would be wasting Beth's time (in her mom's eyes) when she could be doing something more productive - like figuring out college.

Yes - the new ballet dancer was definitely not a ballet dancer body but both were exquisite!

I enjoyed the episode overall and had many misty eyed moments.  Loved Beth's dad.  Loved her mom even when it was hard to - she just wanted the best for her kids.  And while that is hard to deal with in the moment, I feel certain Beth is glad that her mom pushed her toward realist goals that did end well for her....

Unless you own the studio, you are not making more than fast food money teaching dance classes.  As fit as she is, it would make more sense for her to own a Barre (of any flavor) workout studio where she could make a good living while incorporating her ballet background...

  6. There is just no way that Rebecca didn't smell the whiskey on Kevin.  That smell lingers and she has to be familiar with it from Jack's old drinking...  She was a drinker at some point in her life (from what they've shown us) -- not as a problem -- just a drinker.  You can definitely smell it on the person.

I worry for Kevin that he won't get helped by his family and will spiral downward again.

I didn't notice the cat when the people were "wiping" her apartment.  How in the world is the cat not just going wild for food by now?  My cats go feral if we are 5-10 MINUTES late to feed them their wet food meal (sharing a small can of fancy feast each night) -- that poor cat wouldn't have had a meal in a couple of weeks.  Definitely didn't act hungry or LOOK hungry....

I think Tori has had too much filler which has squished up her face.  Combine that with weight gain after all of her kids....

My favorite bit was Flagg losing his car keys and having Bobby taxi over another set, and his trip to the dog park. And yes please, pick up after that huge Rhodesian. I don't know if that was Flagg's poodle or not, but I like to imagine so.

His assistant was so ... wan when he left her to watch the open house. In fact, a lot of the assistants on real estate and design shows come off as pretty vapid.

I enjoy Tracy on the show. Her hair looks good shorter and without extensions. The person who bugged me last night was the man running the estate sale, with his tacky t-shirt. I wouldn't have minded a neat polo with a business logo, but he looked like a slob off the street. Even limited to 15 people at a time, there were still a lot of small items out on display that could be stuffed into a pocket or purse. Bobby buying a potted plant was pretty extra.

As far as the actual real estate goes, I felt bad for James and David when their seller, as usual, wouldn't budge on the price. Yes, people buying in that price range probably can come up another $500K or so, but the same could be said for sellers of multi-million dollar properties. I didn't see how the house being burgled would make them take it off the market. If anything, it would increase my desire to move.

The screen said it was Josh's parents poodle - loved her!!!!

I think the burglary is part of some larger burglary ring associated with houses on the market getting robbed.  I think that is more of why they took it off the market than anything.   I think I heard on the news that they caught the suspect in that ring or maybe another ring....

    Great first episode back.

  15. I just loved this finale for the show.  I was glad it tied up the loose ends and it was as believable to me as a time travel show can be :-)

It was an interesting twist to leave Amy in the original timeline and not in the present.   I was kinda glad to see that but still a little sad that Lucy lost her sister all together for really no good reason that we were ever told...

Masters Degree in the subject you are teaching is the only requirement....    I would think the 3 years of law school would be greater than the 2 years a masters degree typically takes.  Now most university professors are PhDs or PhD candidates and any masters degree teacher would be working on PhD.   I explored this option as a side gig in my 20s since I do have a masters degree.

    13 hours ago, lavenderblue said:

In the universities I attended, 8 credits would have equaled only two or three standard courses (3 or 4 credits a course), so a part-time semester's load. I nitpicked more what Kate's outstanding credits were, because if it were upper level major work that she needed, the community college won't cut it. But I'll be generous and assume she was only missing general ed requirements.

8 credits isn't even a full time load but not sure you can take that at community college since usually you take those type course the first 2 years of school (100-200 level courses) and the last 2 years are more specifically focused on your major/minor in upper level courses (300-400 level)

Yeah, you cant just walk in off the street and get a teaching job without any teaching experience, or a college degree, Kate. Honestly, you can hardly get any job without some sort of higher education. Duh. And maybe the best way to get a job isnt a variation of the usual "have I mentioned my life sucks?" speech that you love so much, Kate?

And I hope you enjoyed her niece bonding last week, because I dont see that happening again for awhile.

My high school drama teacher did not go to college but was a Broadway actress and was in movies in the 1960s.   So I could handwave that Kate's lack of degree would not hold her back but it was nice to see something not just handed to her or working out perfectly for her.

I can’t even call them outfits. Those two appear to be playing dress up for Halloween. Embarrassing.

The woman with the platinum hair reminds me of Kim Zolciak-Bierman's best friend from Alabama.   But way less tasteful.  They were all a hot mess.   I'm with Cary -- I'd rather have 175 dresses.  The dress isn't horrible and likely there is a market out there for it - just not sure who?

I can’t see how Jenni can be upset about being fired from a job she hasn’t done for several years.  She has not been an employee of JLD for several years so there is no financial penalty to her for being fired from a job she didn’t have or get paid for at JLD.

    12 hours ago, DrivingSideways said:

Jeff firing Jenni over lunch was such a fuck-you to her.  Everything he said was accurate of course - it's his business and he needs people who are focused on it.  But he couldn't just apologize, full stop.  He had to exercise his ultimate control - financial - and cut her off.  Asshole.

    8 hours ago, SuprSuprElevated said:

I have always assumed that the activities and tasks are performed by all of them together, for filming purposes.  They want to film the interaction between the personalities in places other than at JLD.  I also believe that is why the "office" is set up the way it is.  If the cameras would have to follow each person in and out of someone else's office, well, that wouldn't be very interesting or conducive to the flow of conversation?  I'm not a professional television producer/director, but I watch a lot of it, lol.

I believe a lot of what they do doesn’t happen in their day to day work.  I do not believe that they all go pick out a light fixtures on the regular.  In prior seasons, they did talk about eating lunch together to be more productive and work through lunch.   Also, the lunches with clients can be expensed.

I think it would be hard to find people with the skills he needs who also want to be on TV.  So he gets people with minimal skills who can be on TV.   He can’t say that on the show or it would break the 4th wall.  The same reason he can’t say - Jenni lets quit pretending you work for me and instead had to seem like he was offering her the opportunity to pursue her acting career 100% of the time.  He really did not seem like an ass during that lunch.

I listen to his radio show and he seems like such a nice person on the radio.  I think we see the story of a jerk on the show since that is what is “funny” about the show.  I am not saying he doesn’t have moments but I think a lot of his flipping out is for drama.  I feel like this whole scenario with Jenni was also for drama.  I am sure they are still friends in real life and are just milking this for the publicity.

I also concur with all the comments on how pretty D'Andra looks without all the makeup.  She is naturally pretty and shouldn't let the "glam squad" go quite that glam.

I think LeAnne was up to no good with the Brandi video and likely did email it to herself or some such to have to shame her with later.   Especially since the hostess said no photos.

  22. I thoroughly enjoyed the finale.  They wrapped up the loose ends (for the most part) and brought it back around to the good vs evil that Ryan Murphy loves and does so well.

I was glad to see the two teens from the bunker show up again which tied up the "why" for them being in the bunker.  They were the alternate plan if/when things went wrong for Michael after the Apocalypse.  They needed to be safe in case there was a plan B.

I loved how Mallory warned Queenie to try a different hotel to "save her".   It was also funny that Mallory didn't immediately save Madison from retail hell.

I do think it could be less confusing with different actors playing some of the roles but it also made it interesting....  I enjoyed this season so much more than last.
