Except did that room for the grandkids have enough beds?  Other than that I loved the design…those handmade tiles were gorgeous in the kitchen and the bathroom.

If they have any more grandchildren that's a NO. And I kept wondering, what about their children? Are they only going to host the grandchildren without their parents? It just struck me as very odd unless there are more bedrooms we weren't shown. However, at the beginning the owners said 2-bedroom, 2-bath.

  2. Watching Renovation Inc, the "dream home" has become a problem this week. It airs here on Comcast on Sunday nights and I record it in case I'm busy. Last night I was doing something else and the DVR recorded the show time and labeled it Season 5, Episode 6, Tile and Error. But when I played it back it wasn't Renovation Inc.

The Comcast Guide showed Renovation Inc in the time slot, but aired Love It or List It. Apparently the same thing happened the night before when Outgrown was on the Guide, but a different show aired and the DVR recorded the wrong show.

I'm so confused... has this happened anywhere else?

This show was on my cable guide to show tonight at 7 p.m. Central, but it's not on.   So I finally found it on HGTV, and it's not back until 4 December with new episodes.

It was on my guide to begin at 8pm Eastern and I didn't realize it wasn't on until I noticed that the DVR wasn't recording it. Thanks for solving the mystery!

The interior of this house looked small, but I did like the results.  It was also on a larger lot with a nice pool.  And, of course, Duke made an appearance. I wondered if he would given how Ashley discussed him in the first episode (not being part of the crew anymore but we'll see if he pops up, or something like that).

The house interior and back yard with new fence and pool looked nice. The original hardwood floors were stunning. With the exception of the front door, I really hated the colors chosen for the exterior. The mint green was hideous with that dark grey/blue.

I just watched this episode and found him the least annoying of the four. Her: "I can't do white cabinets!" You'll only be there for three years. Don't look at them.  Father: "Everything is builder grade and must be replaced!" Well, if you can buy the place with builder grade (and pat less) you can sell it with builder grade. Mother: "HOA makes the place look nice. No truck in driveway" You won't be living there. Look the other way when you visit. The HOA might not like three dogs either.

We owned in a home in a neighborhood with no HOA and our next door neighbor parked an old car, a trailer made out of the back end of a truck, and a small boat on the side of his house which was alongside our driveway. When we were getting ready to sell my husband asked him to remove them because they were an eyesore. He did move the junk, but never spoke to my husband again for the short time we lived there. The house sold quickly and we are happy that our present neighborhood has an HOA.

I'm sure that whole "surprise" thing with the Altmans' parents was just for TV, but I cracked up when their mom said "I'd need to get nicer nightclothes"

My thought was with that glass shower in a glass room WITH HOUSES I CAN SEE:

"no f'ing way would I feel comfortable taking a shower in there, particularly when it's dark out!"

Do people really not have a problem with that?

I'd have a problem with that. Even though no neighbors can see in from the master bedroom side of my house my master bedroom and master bathroom have shades for a good reason and it has nothing to do with the quality of my nightclothes. Privacy in those rooms is important.

Basically, they both were up for a listing and the owner told Fredrick he wanted them to co-list. According to Fredrick, he decided it wasn’t worth his time so he took himself out of the race and told the owner to go with Tracy (because she’s great and wonderful, yada yada). He then sent Tracy a text saying something along the lines of “I’m taking myself out so that you can have the listing. Enjoy”. Something to that effect. Agreed it could be condescending but I learned in my 20s not to microdissect text messages. No misogynist undertones. It felt like Tracy wanted Fredrick to apologize and when he decided to stand his ground she claimed sexism and started crying (she then immediately stopped crying and seemed to be acting the whole time).

Capped by her crying, Tracy's overreaction to Fredrick's text was bizarre. She certainly sends a mixed message by complaining about a sexist message while dressed in a hooker style outfit. Her clothing is getting more outrageous by the week. Who does she expect to take her seriously as an accomplished businesswoman when she's flashing cleavage and a bare midriff?

I think the 1960's were the time when home began having an en suite.

Our last house was built in the late 60s and had a master bathroom but it was small. It had toilet, vanity with one sink, a linen closet, and a combo tub/shower. The 'guest' bathroom was a bit bigger with the same features. We remodeled it and removed the linen closet in order to install a larger vanity. The bathroom linen closets were really redundant as there was also a good sized linen closet in the hallway right outside the 'guest' bathroom.

Many believe that the word “master” was intended to mean the “master of the house,” which would undoubtedly be a male. Some historians feel that the use of the word in this context was not intended to have ties to slavery.

It's a total PC move. I don't know anyone who doesn't call their master bedroom a master bedroom. Such drama.

I too love Josh Flagg! I’d love at least a 2 day tour of all areas ( the flats, Trousdale Estates and bird streets, Beverly Hills , Bel Aire, Doheney Estates, etc.)  they talk about on the show. I’ve only been to LA twice and of course did one of the star tours, but  I want an in-depth description and look-see of  all the different neighborhoods  from Flagg in one of his classic cars. Wouldn’t that be the most interesting old Hollywood, historical and architectural tour ever?

I no longer live in California, but could visit my brother who lives in Lake Elsinore and call Flagg to enlist his help in finding a vintage home. Of course I don't want to buy one, I just want to meet Flagg, have a three martini lunch (I'll pay) and see a few homes I can't afford. I can afford the lunch. 🤣

He can come to my place any time and steal snacks from the refrigerator. Call me Josh!

Josh can raid my fridge and pantry any day. I'll give him the garage door and alarm codes to get in and even have the snacks he likes on hand. I'm a senior gal with cats. As long as Josh pets my cats, he's welcome any time.

LA Fredrick is insufferable, and whatever the hell happened also poisoned him on MDLNY this past season.

I love Flagg, I like the Brits... I even got to like KJ from NY....

I adore Flagg and his husband Bobby. The rest of them I can tolerate, except Fredrick. Insufferable is an accurate description. He's also arrogant and obnoxious.

I thought it was sweeet for Flagg to give up his commission so that Tracy could buy Hillcrest.

I'm not sure I'd be able to give up 204K. Then again, I don't have family money like Josh does.

It was a lovely gesture by Flagg but I think Tracy takes advantage of people. Her poor me act was so phony. She comes from big time family money and her low ball offer was insulting, particularly when she talks about all the "work" the house "needs" to suit her. If she can afford to make the changes to a perfectly lovely house, she could afford to pay the buyer's price.

I find the dream home episode from last night bizarre.   They needed almost 2,000 sq ft of tile, but didn't check to see if it's available before they need to have it delivered, and installed?      That was either a fake issue, or they're totally incompetent.     The whining about a wine cellar, a champaign area, and a real bar makes me wonder about their priorities.

Bryan and his team were on schedule and budget with the build until they were hampered by bad weather. It's Sarah and her designer that conspire to make changes and overspend who are incompetent. Sarah's arrogant attitude and whining make her unattractive and unlikeable. I mean, what mother of four thinks a wine room is more important than a pantry?

As soon as the Lake House build series ends, they're going to build their forever home (yes, the one they sold when they moved to the resort, and Florida, full time).    Then, they had the house flipping where they worked on three properties through the season, and then they did the design, and remodeling right before the resort show started.    I really liked the first show, where Bryan helped homeowners with their homes.

I've been watching them build this "forever home" on Renovation Inc. that I understand they've now sold. What a mess. They actually lived in the old part of the house while building the addition. It's a disaster with water leaking in where roofs meet temporarily on old and new parts of the build and changes are being made everywhere. Sarah really shows her craptastic personality by insisting on a wine room where there was supposed to be a pantry. She contracts for the staircase with a company that then can't build it. She picks tile that won't be available for three months and won't select something different that is available. Her choice for stone on the outside required additional foundation work. Her drawings for a fireplace were off by a foot and it had to be taken down and rebuilt. They are using a designer, but Sarah doesn't listen to her any more than she listens to Bryan and apparently the "design budget" is totally blown away with her costly mistakes, changes, and dumb choices. I want to reach through the TV and bitch slap her for being so stubborn and obnoxious.

I missed it...what were their jobs? And spot on about the wife being a princess...yikes! Seemed like she wanted the same set up her rich parents have. Did they realize how much work it is going to take to maintain that property? Talk about a money pit...I couldn't help but be concerned about the fire situation with all those trees and dry brush on the property. I know that the Sacramento area did have wildfire issues this last summer..I could see that property with all the trees and wooden buildings basically being kindling. And as far as the vineyard thing...I can only imagine during a drought how much water is needed to keep the vines growing and producing grapes.

II think she said she was a school teacher and he mumbled something that I took to be software sales.

I think the husband was aware of the labor involved in maintaining so much property and he really didn't want to be responsible for more than an average yard. His princess bride probably grew up with "help" taking care of a lot of her parents' property and vineyard and she's clueless. Not likely that she'll be helpful.

You're so right about wildfire possibilities in that area.

The house they bought did have a pool, although it was small.  He was cleaning leaves out of it at the end.

I wonder about their income, too.  That is a big house, and they want to do some renovations at some point.  I guess they have plenty of time for that.

Thanks for correcting me, For some reason I thought the house they bought had a hot tub. Duh! I was pretty tired while watching and didn't pay a lot of attention at the end after hearing which one they decided to buy.

The house they chose is next too her parent's vineyard home.

Just watched the San Francisco to Lincoln, CA HH.   I love that area of California.

I'm amazed that such a young couple with rather ordinary jobs could spend more than a million dollars on a home. How are they qualifying for a mortgage? Maybe her seemingly well-to-do wine producing parents are bankrolling them by providing a hefty down payment. Interestingly, the house hunter wife got her "land" but there was no vineyard on it, which was what she kept saying she wanted. Her poor husband may never get his swimming pool until she stocks that land with goats and miniature horses.

The house on the cul-de-sac with a pool that the husband really wanted would have been the most practical option for a young couple, but the way the wife acted I just knew she'd prevail. Sheesh. She was quite the Princess.

Yeah, buying a whole sail to make a cushion for kids to play on was ridiculous. And what were they going to store in the play space once the kids outgrew it? It was too deep to be a pantry.

If I were the homeowner I'd be seriously upset at the waste of money for that play area under the island unless I'd specifically asked for it. Located in the middle of the kitchen it seems to me that it would be dangerous for small children to be popping in and out of that space, particularly when hot meals are being prepared. The money Jasmine spent on it could have been used in other areas of the house that surely needed work.

I am really enjoying this show a lot!   I only wish that they would show the entire houses, before and after.  Regardless of what they personally restored.  The last house, with the new master bathroom, I wanted to see the other rooms of the house.  Didn't like the new bed in the master, preferred the four poster.  Mike is a hottie, Jennifer better watch out, hahaha.

I really enjoyed that last house with the master bedroom reno and two master baths added, but the closets were a major disappointment. Just a row of doors with hanging rods behind them and a slanted ceiling that left no room for shelves above the rods. The closets looked so narrow that I hope there is room to close the doors when garments are hung on hangers in them.

Well, that's pretty much the answer to your question, lol.

I didn't like the outside, but then I don't like that style of house.  And you're right that an older person must have lived in it because it was so full of clutter that I couldn't get a read on what the rooms would be like renovated.

It looked like it was approaching Hoarder House status.

  22. Episode tonight was refreshing change--the homeowners had a lot of input in flooring and finishes. Even though there was the dreaded banquette, it worked in their house. The bookshelves were a great improvement as was the installation of the homeowner's art, even though the art was IMHO dreadful. The shallow cabinet that hid the support column was clever and the glass installation on the stairs and landing was elegant and practical. Also clever was the style of bathroom vanity that won't be destroyed by water splashing from the tub by little boys.
