  1. Egypt and Mike were robbed. I live in Georgia and our housing mindset here is that the FROG, more commonly called bonus room or family room over garage, is a family room or playroom. The Rock the Block house is in Summerville, SC, which is a similar demographic to my home.

The loft in that house was clearly meant to be a casual living area. The massive laundry room that Jenny and Dave created was a waste of the space. There was already a smaller laundry room adjacent to the loft and near the upstairs bedrooms. Not everyone has a houseful of children and even people with no children would appreciate a casual living area. I know that many of my friends and I use our casual space more than the 'formal' areas of our homes.

Yeah unless it is a special built-in fridge which is rare. Even rentals leave out the fridge, especially in CA.

Same goes for the washer and dryer. Most people want to pick out their own. It could end up being a negotiation tactic to offer appliances but in this housing market I don't think that even flies now.

When I rented an apartment in Anaheim, CA back in 1969 it didn't come with a fridge. I bought a used one cheap and sold it to someone for what I paid for it when I moved. Apparently nothing has changed. 🤣

And the wife was a little too bubbly. Being around her would exhaust me.

Baton Rouge blogger is "making bank" with her online "brand"? LOL! Good for her, but I hope they can make the mortgage payments without that "bank" from her blog. From personal experience, an online site has limited income potential. My ad revenue went from several hundred dollars a month to not much in a few years.

On a side note, what do all these weave/wig-wearing women do if the man they're with suddenly wants to run his fingers through their hair?  I literally vomited in my own mouth at the thought of ANYONE wanting to run their fingers through Memphis' greasy, probably nasty smelling hair.

I don't get it with the cheap looking skanky wig Memphis is wearing during the trip. In the talking heads she has on a shiny, nicely styled wig. You'd think she would want to look her best to meet Hamza and his family.

The more I think about the twins washer / dryer in the closet, the more I wonder if they're actually functional or just there for show.

We didn't see them do any work to put them there.  You would need water lines going there, a drain (not necessarily a floor drain but you need a drain), an external vent for the dryer, and I would think you would want them on their own breaker and we didn't see them run any new electrical to them.

Bingo! I don't know about the building code there, but my electric dryer is on a special breaker all by its lonesome in the breaker box. And wasn't the stackable washer/dryer on an inside wall right next to the closet door to the bedroom? Where was the vent and the hose to the outside? It's so hard to tell these things in the rushed "reveal" but we should have expected a no-brainer winner when Allison Victoria showed up to judge.

Everybody says they want a soaker tub, but a survey I read a while back said the average use was once.

My house, built in 1987, had a soaker tub and separate shower in the master bath. I used that big soaker "garden" tub exactly twice in 30 years. It took a lot of water to fill it even part way and the water would get cold before I finished "soaking" in it. When I had the bathroom renovated I had the tub removed and the shower put in its place. I love my big new shower with a bench seat built in. The spot where the old shower was is now a big linen closet with hanging space for bathrobes.

The twins. They put a washer/dryer in their ample closet. Brillant.

All I could think of when I saw the washer/dryer in the closet was how stupid to fill the closet with humidity from the washer and heat from the dryer. I wouldn't want to expose my clothing to that. These houses are in South Carolina Low Country--the humidity is fierce there in summer. I don't know about houses there, but here in Georgia there are no vents in closets for air conditioning. Can you say mildew?

Egypt and Mike were robbed. Their master bedroom and bath were the best. TWO closets in the master is more desirable and very common here in my area. That adds value. JMHO.

Liked the kitchen and the wet room, but even though it was water tight, having to wipe everything down after the marathon showers would be a pain.

With that tub so close to the walls I wonder how they will be able to keep it clean. It didn't look like there was enough room to get a mop between the base of the tub and the tile walls. I would worry about the grout getting all mildewed and slimy. Am I the only one who thinks about things like that?

I do understand the husband's love of long showers. My late husband found a great deal of comfort in them at the end of his life. But, oh my! The water bill and power bill to heat the water are no joke.

I really don't see this as a real competition at all, just another home makeover show to get more publicity for the participants.   I think the winner is just who the producers want it to be, and they spread out the weekly 'winners' to make it look like a contest.

Agree! It is interesting to see how four teams envision a space differently, but it's usually pretty obvious from the get-go which ones have the edge. In this one it's either Jenny & Dave or Egypt & Mike.

Interestingly, here in Georgia the latest trend in garage placement is to have them somewhat detached with a breezeway connecting them to the house, often screened in and used for an outside sitting area. I really liked Egypt & Mike's solution to build the hallway to the garage and create that "drop zone" for coats and such behind the foyer wall.

Christina strikes again with her design knowledge.  In back to back episodes, she presented the blue kitchen cabinets as "sooooo vintage" and then "soooo MCM".  I'm pretty sure that a house built in 1923 and a house built in 1953 have vastly different aesthetics.  I also don't think nautical blue is a vintage or MCM classic kitchen color.  You know Miss Christina - one size fits all, you just call it something different!

When we moved to Baton Rouge, LA in 1981 we initially rented a house for a year while we got to know the area. Our rental house, which was built in 1977, had navy blue kitchen cabinets. Since that was 45 years ago... so, maybe navy blue cabinets are sorta "vintage"? LOL! 🤣

  11. I don't blame Mahogany for getting a vacation rental to have Ben over to meet her parents. I really wouldn't surprise me if it was the parents' idea and they paid for it so Ben wouldn't know where they actually live. He's basically stalking her by showing up in Peru after she told him not to come. Her explanation of how the texting was her responding to him in generalities about how she felt regarding marriage and children and he took it to mean how she felt toward him personally. That makes sense.

Jenny tore out the arches around the front door with the truck! I was worried part of the house or roof would come with them.

I believe you're thinking of a different episode. The homeowners liked the arches in this one and they kept them as well as the patio/porch in front that they covered with a pergola. Planting vines with that thought that they will eventually create a canopy over the pergola was a terrible idea. Vines will creep onto the painted brick and ruin it.

No one mentioned that they painted the brick fireplace the same fugly blue as they painted the outside brick and painted the kitchen cabinets green. That might have been okay except that you could see the cabinets from the living room through the expansive opening to the dining/kitchen area and the colors didn't play well together. While I initially thought he "inside windows" were a terrible idea, they really turned out a lot better than I expected.

Yes, it was the Bargain Block flippers doing the giant crumpled fabric (I guess fabric) headboard for the Rock the Block house.

Since the point of the show is to add value to the houses, I don't think the Bargain Block flipper guys are going to come close to winning. I'm pretty familiar with the Charleston area and doubt that their craptastic stuff is going to go over well there.

I noticed that, too! Although I think they'll do some weird thing here. Egypt and Mike for me.

One of the previews for Rock the Block briefly shows what looks like a curvy fabric "art installation" on a wall. I'm sure it's the Bargain Block artiste's handiwork. 🤣

Maxine the trans woman who 'plays 50 musical instruments' (badly, from what we were shown), who-of course- wants 4000cc implants, even though she can't seem to keep her current 1500cc ones covered adequately. So, so thirsty. She 'wants attention', no kidding. Bless her (and her sad partner's) hearts, at least they've got each other, I guess.

That trans woman is a mental case. She needs serious therapy, not plastic surgery.

The young woman who had the terrible tummy tuck in Mexico had a nice result, but as much as I admire Dr. Dubrow's work, he just lifts the nipples a bit too high to look natural. JMHO.

The heavy metal guy's eye looked pretty good, but a decent makeup "concealer" would hide that dark skin better than the tattoo. Again, JMHO.

I also was scratching my head as to where all that $100,000 went. Yes, the kitchen probably ate up a big chunk, as well as reconfiguring the owner's bath and closet. Upholstery can be pricey, but it was just 3 chairs and a sofa. The dining room looked so much better, but I was surprised that Hilary just enlarged the case opening. Personally, I like that better, but I'd assumed she was opening it entirely to the kitchen. Family of  5- 4 stools. Good job. Now they will always have to eat in the dining room. Lastly, the children's bathroom was ridiculous with that trough sink with 3 faucets. The vanity already had 2 basins. Was it really that much of a big deal for the kids to be brushing teeth together? Or couldn't one wait his turn? I hate reglazing tiles and not a fan of laminate flooring ,especially in a bathroom. It's cheap looking, even if it's the luxury kind.

So yeah, disappointed the money didn't go further.

All I could think of when I saw that trough sink was... "where are they going to keep their toothbrushes and toothpaste?" There were two soap dishes and I didn't notice any towel bars. I also noticed that the family of  5 only had room for 4 stools at the island. Personally, I'd ask for my money back.

Many of them are built into lower cabinets these days - drawer microwaves at knee level are apparently the cool thing. Perhaps for toddlers who like to melt their siblings' toys, but not for adults with difficulties bending and lifting. I prefer a portable one on the counter, easily replaceable when it dies and if something is very hot, you just slide it onto the counter, rather than dropping it onto the stovetop or floor. And most children old enough to safely use a microwave can reach it on the counter.

My home was built in 1987 and the microwave is built in above the oven and I would love to have it in a lower cabinet. I'm a Geezer Gal with arthritis and sometimes it isn't easy getting things into and out of a microwave that is shoulder height. Plus, the one I now have has a door with hinges on the bottom that drops down (the last one had hinges that opened to the left) and it's hard to clean. I have to stand on a stool to reach the back of it.
