This can not be stated firmly enough. There's another benefit to renters insurance (and homeowners for that matter.) Your property is covered anywhere it goes. So if your property is stolen from your car (happened to me after a car accident) you have coverage through your homeowners insurance. If you lose your engagement ring (also happened to me) that's covered too. A lot of people think their auto insurance will cover their property if it's stolen from a car, and it will only cover permanently attached items, like your car stereo. Anyway, thanks for mentioning that. I make it my business to tell every renter I know to make sure they get insurance; it's not even that expensive!

He's been the victim of a couple of bad rulings: that one and the RV one from the other day. Fortunately for him, he's won anyway, but if he hadn't I think they'd have had to consider bringing him back.

Welcome aboard! I look forward to whatever snark you choose to bring to our forum. I hang out on a few boards here (those folks over on Jeopardy are a bit uptight,) but this one is by far my favorite. Great posters, great snark, and there's a trip to Vegas brewing, if we can all get some hapless friends to borrow us some money.

I couldn't get over the hair in the first case. Where were these people from? If it's somewhere warm, I'm Opening up a beauty salon there. I would have no shortage of work. I was going to say I know a name is terrible when I can't even get my iPad to let me type it, as was the case with Dontray. I spent so long trying to get his name in my post that I forgot what I was going to say about him. Oh, I know. He's a jackass. Then I got to the plaintiff's witness's first name, which is Cuitlahuac. How do you even pronounce that? I give up.

I got Houston right away the other day because I really couldn't think of anything else that happened in 1970. In my defense, it was before my time... I missed Orange is the New Black and slapped my forehead as soon as the correct answer was revealed. I should have known that one, since I'm a fan of the show and always watch the Emmys. I like Fred and am rooting for him, but his slowness does drive me crazy. I can't explain that one bit. My mother, who is rarely bothered by the things that bother me when I watch, was screaming at the screen today. She said he's exasperating. I was irritated that we didn't get to finish the women sports category, as I would have run it I'm sure.

Fred is growing on me, which means he won't be around for long. I got FJ, but my mom guessed Popeye and Olive Oyl, which made me wonder if they were ever married. Then I started wondering about the Archie and Veronica answer. Then I wondered if the couple had to be married to have an "anniversary." So I was really over-thinking this FJ!
-
When the plaintiff said that, my mother turned to me and said, ""Is the defendant blind?" I do think she was flirting because some women just do that, regardless of what man it is.

I am ridiculously afraid of clowns, so I almost jumped out of my seat when I saw that real clown behind the regular clown I'm used to (Harvey.) The plaintiff in the first case doesn't need a restraining order; she needs a gun. That dude is not the type who is going to respect or obey a restraining order. He'd have been in the hospital the first time he put a tracking device on my car.

I sensed that Fred was just really nervous in the first round. I was surprised when Alex said he was ahead because I don't pay much attention to the scores during the game. He had a better second round. I got FJ but wasn't surprised Kyle missed it. I was rooting for her because I'm worried about this season's lack of TOC contenders. That right there is funny.
-
Just because they missed it doesn't mean they don't know who she is. I'm sure they know who she is but, like me, didn't realize what her initials stood for. I wasn't looking for an author whose initial stood for Jo, I was looking for one named Jo. Perhaps that was their undoing too.
-
Kyle's hometown is next door to mine, and that's close enough for me to root for her. I had no idea on FJ tonight and was impressed that she got it. I'm not a fan and know very little about Rowling. I was trying very hard to think of a famous Brit named Jo.

Oh. they wouldn't learn anything from it anyway. We get litigants all the time who say they watch the show, but their actions are always contrary to what they should have done.

The plaintiff in today's second boring case, about the rental house? Yep, my mom knows her. When she first came on screen, my mom said, "I know that girl from Pottstown." I kinda rolled my eyes, because my mom thinks she knows everyone. She doesn't know her well, but she knows her from church. For the record, my mom said that the plaintiff's house probably already had all those holes in it. There are some rough neighborhoods in Pottstown.

I completely agree with you. I see no reason to have three players who whiffed on FJ and ended up with $0 back to tape another show. When it's happened in the past, they didn't bring the contestants back.

I'm always down for Vegas (not a far drive for me anyway) but I'd have to bring the new chick. As I like to say, the best way to get over one is to get under another! I'll try to resist co-signing for a car, adding her to my phone plan, and moving in five minutes after we've met. I do have some sense, you know. I find her "My America" schtick runs a little too conservative for my blood, but it would be nice if the real justice system moved at her pace, that's for sure.

Oh, I've been saying this for years! As someone who studied German, it really bothers me. I want more German clues, dammit. I also love Russian literature and wish they'd ask about more authors than the three they usually hit. The writers definitely have their favorites. I thought the game was pretty dull, other than the Mamie miss, which was bizarre. I remembered very little about it until I read some of the posts and was reminded. I was at the Rose Garden for an event years ago, and Lynda Bird walked right past us. Prior to that, I didn't know who she was. But my partner at the time (17 years my senior) went apeshit and gave me a whole history lesson about her. It's funny how we come to know things.

That's funny. It's actually the Veridian Dynamics logo from my favorite canceled-too-soon show, Better Off Ted. I'm sure it was canceled for some crap that lasted three or four episodes, and I miss it to this day. Thanks for the kind sentiment. The breakup happened a couple of weeks before Christmas. In fact, I've already started rebounding with someone new, who is helping to make me realize what a huge mistake I avoided. My ex dumped me the day after I lost my job, which is one of vilest things you can do to someone you supposedly love. I could be like a typical JJ litigant and sue her for all the "loans" I gave her when she wasn't working a few years ago, but I decided to take the high road. And I also know that gifts don't suddenly become loans after someone breaks your heart, which is JJ 101. The view is very nice from my high horse! Did anyone else see the survey they released that said 10% of college grads think Judge Judy is on the Supreme Court? Here's the link, in case you missed it: http://www.cnn.com/2016/01/19/politics/judge-judy-supreme-court-poll/

I don't know any nurses who are in unions, but that might be because of where I live; there aren't a lot of unions here. My ex is an RN, and her medical insurance was really expensive and really shitty. I work in the insurance industry and have always had decent health insurance. Not to go too far off-topic, but I can't for the life of me figure out why it is that in the US we insist on tying health insurance to employment. It's stupid and is part of what got us into this health insurance mess in the first place.

I thought the question was very badly worded, but I didn't write it down so I don't remember how they worded it. My mother and I both thought they were looking for something related to who was president in 1957, so we both thought of DDE and guessed Topeka. I should have remembered it was MLK day and that Jeopardy usually asks something related to the air dates of the shows, but I didn't. The only one of those I didn't know was Bosch. I'd heard of and seen all the others, but I've never heard of Bosch. I do like the Michael Connelly books, so I'm going to have to check out the series.

Haven't you learned from this board that if you have the audacity not to know something someone else knows you must be an idiot? :)Honestly, these "I can't believe someone didn't know such and such" posts are really annoying. Can we just accept that we all have different knowledge bases?

With all these amazing dogs out there just waiting to be rescued, I don't understand why they went to all this trouble to raise money to buy from a puppy mill. I guess they wanted a pure-breed, but you can find those at rescues too. They could have rescued 7 or 8 dogs for what they paid for one (not that they should have, but they could have.)

I wish TPC came on that early in my area. I think it comes on at 1 pm here, but I don't normally see it until dinner time.

I think Megan just wanted to write something down. I doubt she thought that was correct. I didn't know FJ either; I know very little children's lit because I didn't enjoy it, even as a kid. I'd never even heard of it. Shame on me, I guess. The contestants forgot the categories a few times, which doesn't surprise me when there's a lot of board-hopping, but did surprise me since they were pretty much staying in the same Oh, we've seen that distant-third contestant win many a game. When your opponents are battling each other with high score, sometimes you can sneak in and win if you're the only one who gets FJ right. The middle guy reminded me of a former boss I had who I hated, so I had a completely unfair dislike of him. It was the way he stood. Not his fault, but I was rooting against him.

It's better to find out you're with an asshole before you marry them, at least that's how I'm looking at it! Some of our JJ litigants would be better served to do a little due diligence before they choose their baby mamas and baby daddies. I'm lucky I found out before I made a mistake.

I'm not even a big Remy Martin fan (I prefer Courvoisier in my French Connections) but a part of me wants to order one in that same accent the next time I go to an upscale bar. I loved that pronunciation. I live in Tucson, so I hear a lot about the haboobs here. I think the weather people just like saying it. I'd never heard the word before moving to AZ. I also didn't know much about monsoons. Anyone who says AZ doesn't have weather hasn't spent much time here.
