  1. I didn't like Fallon when he was a cast member, but I think he's proven to be a good host, and I really liked the bit they used to open the show. I only wish that they had more recurring characters pop up throughout it, because it was a great way to quickly squeeze in shout outs to the different eras.
  2. He hosted in the 70's, but I'm not sure if he's been back since. Norm always tells the story of how Burt was going to come on during one of the Celebrity Jeopardy sketches, punch Norm in the face, take the podium, and be even dumber than the impression.
  3. I know not everyone has cable, but VH1 played 8 hours of retrospectives earlier in the day. That's why I kept on teetering over the clip packages and montages, because while it's always fun to remember favorite moments, there are already tons of specials cataloging them. I thought the reunion special really struggled with the balance, like they weren't quite sure which direction to take it.
  4. The clutch performers really elevated last night's show. Will Ferrell, Bill Murray, Mike Meyers, and Dana Carvey are such amazing sketch performers, and it was really nice to see them shine in their bits. Dan Aykroyd recreating Bass-o-matic was fun too, although he's not quite as good at the fast talking as he used to be. I was so happy to see her at the update desk, because I think Tina and Amy unfairly get all the glory for breaking into the boy's club of the Weekend Update desk, when Jane was rocking it by herself in 1976. She's probably the best preserved of the original cast, which is probably a good commentary on her choice to abstain from the rest's rock and roll lifestyles. I generally hate Adam Sandler, but he was perfectly used in the Digital Short. They only really shot him in profile, but what was up with his eyebrows? They seemed to be crazy shaded.
  5. When they added "people who didn't make it" I was convinced it would go into one of those parody auditions, where the cast would flex their favorite celebrity impressions. Those were always my favorite bits.
  6. I wish they'd do a sketch of all the cast members doing Lorne impressions. They never get old.
  7. The sad part is that they didn't even feature half of them. Fallon and Sanz were the worst.
  8. Kanye should have respected artistry and dropped out of performing at the 40th Anniversary Show.
  9. I wouldn't call an 8 second clip a montage. They didn't even show the best part of that sketch where he imagines the bird ordering things with his credit card.
  10. Can you utter Conan O'Brien's name on NBC?
  11. With Fred Armisen on the tambourine.
  12. Chris Rock hyped Eddie Murphy for longer than Eddie Murphy appeared.
  13. No Lonely Island for the musical montage?
  14. This segment took a turn for the awesome.
  15. Yes! Jason in a track suit!
  16. David Spade works in a few more seconds of screen time.
  17. Was that Christopher Lowell behind Garth and Kath? That's the only way I made it through that segment was trying to identify him.
  18. They skipped Bill Murray too.
  19. Cecily's "Why are you surprised? It's on the cue cards" was the line of the night for me.
  20. Wow, this is a great way to start
