  1. Subha had my blood pressure boiling. Yeah, they got everything plated, but they were supposed to be working as a team and he wasn't soing any of the prep that needed to be done each time he was up. The balcony reaction when he dropped that tortilla needs to be a gif so much. It will never not be funny.
  2. I said something similar about Kate last season, but when you know you're going to be on Bake Off, there are some techniques you should learn if you don't know already: puff/rough puff pastry, and this season it's genoise sponge! I was really expecting Dan to be Star Baker this week, but Rahul really knocked it out of the park at the end. I'm going to try a pistachio cake and the pineapple sponge!
  3. There were several bakers in other seasons who were shown drinking tea quietly while everyone else was still getting their bakes together, so Karen's offer of a crisp was a bit off-putting. My immediate response was 'This is Bake-Off! Go help Terry!' I'm glad Terry wasn't eliminated because his mustache brought me joy. I really like everyone, but I like Karen the least.
  4. Kate, Kate, Kate. This is season 8 of the Bake Off. You just can't stand there during Pastry Week and say you've never made rough puff pastry before. Sensible bakers would have been in the kitchen grating butter as soon as they got notified they made the cut. I'm glad Liam got Star Baker. #Cynthia. Yan came close, but I think her signature pies cost her. While Stacey made a mistake baking the parchment paper, Julia had really dark pie crusts and her food wasn't seasoned.
  5. I usually hate bread week and watch just so I know who is being let go, but this was a very enjoyable episode. Steven's Showstopper was everything that Stacy's (is that her name?) Illusion cake was not. Liam has good ideas but I hope his execution skills didn't peak with the illusion cake.
  6. Watching the episode Laura Ingalls Wlder and oh hell no. Laura can't work as a teacher after almanzo loses everything (he said no and they aren't even married yet) and Ma tells her it's okay because one day she'll have babies to teach. Liza Jane dates an equally shy and awkward man, and they dance to music from a record player, at least 15 years before records were created.
  7. The episodes that have bugged me most recently are the ones with Charles and Caroline's high school reunion and the kids dressing up as Indians for Halloween. Reunions in the 1880s? Everyone knows that book Ma didn't like the Indians but TV Ma is fine with (stereotypical) face paint, buckskin, and feathers. Come on.
  8. Their Facebook profiles still have them as married to each other. I was surprised that Bruria and Dan are still together, but only a little. They seemed to have the least amount of parental drama.
  9. I just watched I'm Getting Married and it totally holds up 13 years (!) later. I was kind of shocked to see just how far the marriage equality fight has come in a time frame that seems really long and really short. With some Google-fu and Facebook stalking, it looks like everyone is still married!
  10. Boat dynamite - not to be confused with all the other dynamite that Ruby uses.
  11. Not to mention the giant red goiter just below his right ear that no one seemed to notice.
  12. I totally thought Juliette would turn back into Adalind, but I wasn't expecting a hexenbiest. Since Wu is a cop, shouldn't they have put him in a segregated cell?
