I also hated his reasons for not wanting the Dragonfly renovated because it would harm a historical piece. I'm like, what? It was a ran down business that closed for several reasons. Lorelai, Sookie and Luke poured a lot of money into that and came up with an incredible building and business design. Granted, Lorelai didn't know a thing about money management but still. Not only did she forecast breaking even but the place became a bigger success than she had planned and made the money back. Though we never heard if Luke was paid or not it was Taylor's job since the Dragonfly sat as a business property, which as I explained his job to determine property sales and business and residential uses his reasons for trying to keep from being renovated were completely absurd. If Stars Hollow would have been a real place, the Mayor would have removed him from office because leaving the Dragonfly to rot would have brought down property taxes and business venue prices. He was so stupid and of course, Kirk tried to help him. The man had no brain his head it was: "Ok Taylor, tell me how high to jump!"

Taylor's got worst and worst as the series went and the went with Kirk. Seriously and the town's reason for letting Taylor getting away with all of this crap over the year? Gypsy: "He has some good ideas most of the time, he's our Papa Doc." Which I believe was one of the stupidest things ever said. Also, when they said his position was Town Selectman, ok this is how this works: The Board of Selectmen (BOS) is similar to a Town or City Council. However, there are some differences in the powers and responsibilities of a Board of Selectmen and a Town Council depending on the Town Charter and State Statutes. For example, the BOS may be the legislative body for the Town if the town has a town meeting form of government. Since Waterford has a Representative Town Meeting,(RTM), the RTM is the legislative body in town. In Waterford the First Selectman is a full time elected official paid $91,141.02 annually and the two Selectmen are part time elected officials that are paid a stipend of $1,552.96 annually for their service. unless the First Selectman is specifically granted the particular authority. In particular, all contracts must be approved by the BOS and then signed by the First Selectman except for the Board of Education and some contracts that other Boards, such as the Utility Commission, are permitted to execute. In administering the Town, the First Selectman acts in the name of the BOS. The BOS is also charged with ratifying the Capital Improvements Plan developed by the First Selectman. The Charter also empowers the BOS to make appointments to the following boards and commissions: Planning & Zoning Commission; Building Board of Appeals; Flood and Erosion Control Board; Recreation and Parks Commission. Other responsibilities of the BOS in the Code of Ordinances include: review all departmental budgets; review Town Agreements with outside towns, boards, and commissions; accept or reject bids with and without prejudice; approve the disposition of surplus Town property by the Purchasing Agent; approve disposition of Real Estate Town Property whose value is less than $10,000; accept or reject any bids on Town Property; approve the First Selectman’s Fleet Management Plan for the next fiscal year; approve special assessments for highway improvements; establish regulations regarding bulky waste and recyclable collections; issue licenses for mass gatherings of more than two hundred persons; direct snow removal from specified unaccepted streets; maintain a set of technical specifications and guidelines for restoring utility trench excavations within Town right of ways and provide the guidelines to the RTM. When the BOS performs these functions is determined by the First Selectman who sets the agenda for BOS meetings. So, apparently Taylor was granted special power by the Mayor to pull all of this crap off over the last 7 years. Some of the stuff Taylor did like the summer festival or winter lights were well into his power. Getting zoning rights and property ownership for his business, also within his rights but if you look at all the other crap he did like spending money on stupid things he did made no sense. Not to mention he was THE ONLY SELECTMAN. All towns need at least three unless otherwise changed by the city council. The mayor can't grant there be only one person in charge of all that. Of course if Taylor was making around 90K a year, I don't think I would want to get out of office either. Of course, we knew Taylor was married, his mother was still alive, he had kids somewhere and his brother was married with a family. Yet, apparently he had nothing better to do than be a dick to everyone, especially Luke and Kirk followed him around and did his bidding like Taylor was him pimp.

Oh, I agree on both. That's why Ryan is really the worst character on TV right now. If you look at history of TV shows, the reasons they become the worst characters is because of how they are written to be. In Ryan's case, his character is meant to be the one-liner, political trope for Tim Allen and the other writers who have the same view. Since Ryan has to be a fixture on the show, the only way to keep him from being taken out and shot is for Kristin to be devoid of any sense or anything. Same goes with Kyle, any other person would have quit Outdoor Man a long time ago if that is how they were treated for being so loyal and also setting up the vlog for Mike and keeping Ed's paperwork flowing effortlessly. Yet, they portray him as so stupid, its amazing he can get dressed in the morning and Mike and Ed just take advantage of him. I mean they dropped Mandy having ADHD to have her go back to: "Duh... what way did they go George?" to make the stories work. Same goes for Vanessa, I really hate where she has gone since season 2. She went from a bright, PhD person working on energy to going working in an inner city school because her future son-in-law had to bring up how bad the environment is treated. All of these characters have lost intelligence just to make the stories or political soap boxes work. That's what is going to do the show in, in the long run. Truth be told, if they hadn't started playing down the political jokes and stabs since last season, many critics believe that LMS would not have made it this far after a great first season.

I love the show but they really need to stop with Cristela's: "I don't want a relationship because it will get in the way of my career." Which we know went on hold after her mother got sick after the death of her father. Now, she is ready to finally be a lawyer after so much delay and I can understand it but they have to stop with it. If Cristela doesn't want to date in any form, she should just ignore everything and start making arrangements now once she has a full time job to move out of her sister and brother-in-law's house. That way she will have less pressure on her. The cast is still great and I do enjoy the storylines but they need to put the "anti-dating" to rest.

Exactly, I get Ed's situation and Kristin should have recognized that it was when Ed was putting things the way he would prefer, that is when the problems happened. However, I don't think Amanda Fuller is really good at comedy, she has been on the show for three years since they recast Kristin's role and put in Ryan and magically aged, Boyd. All three of them aren't funny, cute or anything. They aren't bad actors but Amanda Fuller and Jordan Masterson are better at dramas than comedies. When LMS comes to conclusion in the next few years, they need to go back to drama and stay far away from comedy. Cami's storyline could have really worked but it was just all over the place with no resolution. I mean she put Eve's head on her mom's body? That doesn't say: "I might be sexually confused and I like women instead." It says: "I really want you to be my mom in a twisted way." Many people were saying earlier last season if they would make Eve gay considering her mannerisms but as we have seen on a regular basis. She wants guys its just she could care less about wearing dresses or make up. They have put her as a tomboy way, way over the top. I think Molly Ephram though is great in the role but at times, I really wish they do more with Eve than: "I know better than anyone else when it comes to sports." This story line just wasn't a good fit.

Kyle has sadly fallen into the trap of many writers over the years going back to Friends and Two and a Half Men. Many call it the "Joey Effect" where Joey on Friends around Season 5 started losing more and more brain cells by the episode and by the end of the show it was amazing Joey knew how to dress himself. I remember Matt La Blanc even told writers he didn't like where Joey was going and that's why during his spin off series, Joey returned more to season 1-3 Joey. Same goes with Jake on Two and a Half Men. He was never the brightest but by the time Angus left the series, Jake was so stupid he couldn't read signs. I mean, signs that said: "This way to information" at an airport. Something that Angus was not scared to say after he left the show that he hated the last few years because Jake got to the point he probably needed help putting on his clothes in the morning. Kyle has now gotten this way and of course Kristin has also been put this way. Some of the stuff she has done in the last two years, especially being anti-vaccine when is studying to be a doctor. That was not only so way out of character, Kristin came off that her parents never helped her once with Boyd while Ryan was out of the picture so long. Ryan's intelligence has really almost gotten to Kyle level with him wanting to cause problems over things that really don't effect his life style or Boyd's at all. I hate Kyle has become such a whinny loser that Ed and Mike can tell him to go hide drugs for them and he'll do it without question. Kyle saying he will be the low end until the day he dies wasn't funny. It was really, really bad. Also, what was with that outfit Kristin was wearing? It was hideous even though it was worn to highlight her boobs.
-
That was a pretty good episode but man Boyd and Ryan just suck out fun in any scene they are in. The story with Eve was actually very interesting and I know a lot of people talked about Eve being possible gay due to her over Tomboy self. That was a very interesting story, especially how it ended. I did get Kristin's POV with Ed because while Ed does know people, Kristin has been both in a roach coach cafe and a high class restaurant, so she does have more experience. Her sweater though in the last scenes... yikes! Could her boobs be any more pushed up? Enough with Kyle being this stupid, he never was and now even he is saying he is going to be in the same position until he dies. Come on, let the guy win.

Rory and Jess's relationship at least was realistic from a normal teen couple with Jess's constant attitude and views on life and Rory being sexually attracted outside of emotionally attracted to him. Their relationship made sense and so did Rory and Dean early on. However, for all the adult couples, what the Ps viewed as "good drama" was more along the lines of abusive and at times you wanted the couples to break up.
-
It is shocking to me at times how writers and producers of both TV and books write such horrible relationships and then are asked: "Aren't you happily married?" They then reply: "Oh yes, I never trade it for the world but happy couples doesn't equal drama." Oh give me a break! Trust me as someone who has been married for getting close to a decade, every day is not sunshine, rainbows and unicorns flying over them. Have I seen couples who rarely and I do mean RARELY fight? Oh sure but trust me, I've heard many stories from parents, friends and more about how every day can either being a blessing or a curse. So don't tell me the only drama is keeping secrets, cheating, affairs and lies. Couples get in fights because of how to handle raising the kids, one person siding with their parents or forgetting to buy bananas.

Lorelai has constantly been insensitive about things. She gets it from Emily who thinks she can say what she wants and the world will bow to her ideology. That's one of the main reasons why the two couldn't ever see eye to eye, they are way a like.
-
Even better, the Sears photographer didn't ask for Adam or his mom to pull the shorts back down. I remember those socks well.
-
Yes and that even hammers home the season premiere when they told Alex they can't function without her. Sadly, Alex will be Jay for the family next. Because Luke, Manny and Haley can't take care of themselves and Lily is the next Claire.
-
I don't know if you call it "daddy issues", I do agree, all of the boys that Rory dated had a lot of Chris's attributes in one way or another. The only ones who did were Tristan and Marty and with Marty, he was in her "friend zone" and with Tristan, she was not into him. I do agree, she never broke up with them, they all left her or broke up with her. Even with Dean round 3, he was the one who called it because he couldn't fit into the Gilmore Rich World. If anyone taught Rory bad boyfriend skills, that falls with Lorelai, she pined over Chris half the time and when it came to anything that she didn't like, she left or made sure her relationships with her boyfriends made them want to break up with her. Like mother, like daughter.
-
Oh Lilly is being taught FANTASTIC spending and living habits by her fathers. No wonder she has a superiority complex. Yes, Haley and Andy are just tired, the writers like the story but the viewers and critics don't yet they keep plugging away with it. Just end it already! Ed O'Neil can just work magic with any crap he is handed.
-
I enjoyed the episode but Andy confessional and looking like a pathetic love struck puppy was too much. I did like the doctor boyfriend though, I think it was his timing. Man, Luke is just too much these days, I get the tricks with the fake vodka but when Manny said he had a problem at the end. I was like: "He has wayyyy to many problems." Of course Cam would feel the money he got would burn a hole in his pocket. Cam gets way compulsive when he sees something he wants and the price is there. Never does he go: "I don't really need this and maybe I should talk with my husband since we a lot of extra money now." I loved the talk between Jay and Alex and I laughed so hard with the grill. Poor Phil, he tries, he just tries.

Exactly! Was this an invisible cake? Like Wonder Woman's invisible jet in the Smithsonian? What a great cake! You can't see it and no calories!
-
Well, like they did with Haley and then made her a drop out over the stupidest situation I ever saw on TV. "She attacked on police officer." She fell on him trying to get down and they didn't even bring up under age drinking or if she was doing bad in classes. Just that it was: "Bad PR." Seriously? I rather Haley choose to leave college seeing she was going nowhere than the idiocy that followed to get her back in the house as a moocher.
-
It was the classic: "We have to make everyone else stupid for the story to work" plot device because that's exactly what it was. I figured out it had to do with Luke's parents or one of the parents from the get go. I mean this from the town knowing about the "rift" between Lorelai and Rory about 5 minutes after it happened. I mean, come on!
-
Rory's face during that scene said it all because she was like: "Who are you and what have you done with Dean?" Which was all of our reactions after that. Yeah, I can see that he proposed to Lindsey after the fight to prove he wasn't still in love with Rory. However, Lindsey being the idiot she was all : *Swoon*
-
That's my take away too. She could cause drama and her not answer after Meredith asked who it was was all that was needed. After all, she is the Sun and how dare a rogue planet come into her orbit.
-
Lorelai learned to not say a lot of things over the course of the show when she should have.
-
You really have to wonder what Blanca is going to do since Eve only has one more year of high school left and she is mostly likely going into the military and if the would just have Mandy and Kyle get married then the kids are all out of the house.
-
I know but its been completely dropped to as you said to "Joey Tribbiani" Kyle and even worse show that Ed and Mike continue to walk all over him because they can and Kyle will ask how high to jump when asked.
-
Yes and now she has been reduced to the child who wants to play with the older kids who keep shunting her out because they are cooler than her. The brain leech was really pathetic, I mean come on. You have an organism that technically should die from suffocation in a nasal cavity like that and can magically run away when someone tries to grab it. And the woman is more freaked out than an 8 year old who has a tick latched in the base of her neck. Steph... Jackson is married and just lost his first child, no one seems to care about you as a surgeon and the only one who does just found out he has a long lost daughter. Time to call it quits and transfer because no one cares about you.
-
Very true. There is a big difference but there was the point he admitted to Lorelai that he knew. She should have responded: "Then you know what you have to do." That would have done it instead of the horrible makeout war at the danceathon later on.
