The X-Files Revival: The Truth is in Here
Hidebehind replied to HalcyonDays's topic in The X-Files [V]
I think the religious plot is the least of our worries :d On a positive note, CC has penned some good episodes: Paper Clip, Irresistible, Duane Barry, Darkness Falls. Who's to say he won't surprise everyone? -

Well, he's shown in a suit and has a shaved faced, so I don't think whatever issue he was dealing with in the first episode is too serious. I gotta admit that I hope they don't dwell on the "Mulder is in a dark place" storyline. It's realistic for him and or Scully to be very emotionally fragile at this point, after all that has happened to them, but I don't think that would be very enjoyable to watch. I'd like for them to be at least somewhat happy and sane in the revival... -

I saw that! I wish Frank Spotnitz was on board with the revival. I think he had a tempering influence on Chris Carter. -

That sentence was probably (hopefully) paraphrased. It would be silly to create conflict between her and Mulder over religion. -

haha, I guess I should have seen that coming. I know a lot of people dislike that aspect of the show. I hope CC practices some subtlety, since he often goes overboard with religious imagery in such episodes... -

HalcyonDays, that's a good point and I think you're probably right. I just hope CC understands the character of Mulder as much as you seem to! Also, "Carter says that episode 4 will deal with one of Scully’s most distinctive character features: her religious faith, a source of conflict with Mulder." ---Entertainment Weekly It'll be interesting to see how Scully's religious beliefs have evolved over the past seven years. She didn't seem particularly happy working at that Catholic hospital. -

I thought this was interesting: http://41.media.tumblr.com/9154ae8ea050d5060a53d652d8c05600/tumblr_nqjc8zdcnx1qzi1ujo1_1280.png What should Mulder moving into his living room suggest? That he's gone off the deep end? https://www.flickr.com/photos/110865913@N05/sets/72157655105375015 Here's some cool photos of him. -

Yeah, it's definitely a unique character trait... I think this is a new photo of him: http://40.media.tumblr.com/5b7e8b5077eae76937f52c430beb9b6d/tumblr_nqj8u9YE5l1tyl2edo1_500.jpg C'mon Mulder, go back to Scully! -

I don't think it's edgy, but Mulder is one of the only serious fictional characters I've seen who watches porn. (I don't watch that much tv, so it might be more common than I think). -

Get ready to blush a lot more, 'cause I have the feeling that CC is gonna throw in a reconciliatory sex scene between them. On a related note, "Those VHS tapes? They’re meant to suggest one of Mulder’s edgier character traits: his appreciation for porn. Carter states, ‘Mulder’s porn addiction is currently firmly in check. These are remnants of a former obsession." ---Jeff Jensen in Entertainment Weekly -

I like your optimism. I guess we don't know anything for sure until it airs, and at least I still have seven months to pretend that I didn't see this spoiler. -

I don't care that she's wearing a wig, but it's disappointing that she has to go through headaches for that wig. You could be right, but so far everything fits with the leaked synopsis almost perfectly. And to think I was convinced that they were going to be married... *facepalm* -

"And not to belabor the hair, but it really is a sore subject for Anderson—because it’s really painful to wear. Yes, she is wearing a wig for the revival. Anderson says she began losing her hair due to the wear and tear of her recent characters. She wanted to dye her hair red for Scully—'I was really looking forward to it!‘—but her hairdresser advised against it. 'I was told that if I went red that would be fine, but getting back to blond I would go bald. So unfortunately, it is a wig,’ she says. 'And oh my God, it’s like wearing a vise on your head. Every day I have a whopping headache. I want the fans to know I’m suffering for the red!'" This makes me feel worse. -

"I can’t share the whole story but suffice it to say: There’s more bad news than just “frustrated lovers” in the Entertainment Weekly story (which is masterfully written by Jeff Jensen; don’t shoot the messenger). OK look. It doesn’t definitively tell us the status of the relationship but does definitively tell us something else. Which I’m presently very angry about. Trying to get my calm back. Breathing deeply. Breathing very deeply." I'm giving it two hours before someone spills the beans. Even faster than that: http://perplexistan.tumblr.com/post/122450627256/still-classified-exact-status-updates-for-former -

Regarding the houses: I just looked at the aerial view of Blieberger farm again, and there's a shed behind the main house that looks like it could be Sveta's residence. Bastet, I think it's just the lighting. I have red hair (the same shade as Scully's IWTB hair) and it does look blonde in certain lighting conditions. As to why it's such a light shade of red? I have no idea. People with natural red hair often go blonde as they age, so maybe they were trying to simulate that. -

After seeing the new photos, I think I was mistaken about the Unremarkable House. I think the "farmhouse" they filmed at was just Sveta's house... -

"Is it really THAT bad?? Honestly, with the cheek kiss in ep 1 and Gillian "liking" the state of their relationship, I can't imagine it's anything too too world-ending. Am I kidding myself?" From TvMouse--- "I’m mostly with you–the cheek kiss and Gillian’s comment are both huge comforts. The one question that is definitively answered mainly just serves to raise a hundred more." Now my curiosity is piqued. What is the worst possible sentence? Skinner is married to Scully? Mulder and Scully haven't spoken in seven years? Scully was working for the Syndicate all along? Mulder is an alien? http://www.ew.com/gallery/x-files-season-10-first-look-photos/2226488_annet-mahendru-and-gillian-anderson New pictures guys! -

I don't think the writers/reporters/interviewers realize the extent to which dedicated fans analyze everything they say. I mean... that interviewer pronounced Mulder as "Mud-ler!" I was hoping that M&S would be an established couple, and they wouldn't dwell on their relationship... but it looks like CC intends to Ramp Up The Drama. -

So word on the street (take it with a grain of salt) is that Mulder and Scully are currently "frustrated lovers." This makes no sense to me, considering what CC has previously said about their relationship "maturing and evolving," but I guess it's better than estrangement. -

What do y'all think about the EW article? I think DD was being at least a little sarcastic about Mulder being in a 'dark, dark place.' If Mulder is in a dark place, I think it might be because the alien invasion has yet to happen and he's having a crisis of faith. -

A photo just surfaced of DD in what looks like a suit and tie.... http://humancredentials.tumblr.com/image/122371520578 I think it was taken today, but don't quote me on that. And he's clean shaven, too, so I guess the stubble wasn't permanent. -

I'm just trying to keep in mind the forced ambiguity surrounding their relationship in IWTB. They really did try and convince everyone that Mulder and Scully were separated... and they weren't. Maybe they're using the same (stupid) tactic again? -

Sounds like a humor episode to me with that title. I think he's being ambiguous on purpose. Everyone involved has shut up on social media, so I think they all maybe revealed a little too much by joking around. -

Well, nothing is confirmed yet, but in the previously canon comic books the Lone Gunmen are not dead. Their deaths were never shown on screen, either, so I think it's plausible enough for them to come back. (I know Mulder saw their "ghosts" in the final, but they can explain that away if they need to).
