  1. I thought I was the only one who found that distracting! He's a nice looking guy but all I can focus on is his nose.
  2. My husband is a big fan of The Andy Griffith Show and watches it a lot on MeTV. I've always wondered why Leon's mother let him roam all over Mayberry while eating a peanut butter sandwich. He couldn't have been more than 3 or 4 years old!
  3. I'm so glad that Amazon Prime now has Monk because after reading all of these comments I just had to watch him again! My most favorite episodes are Mr. Monk And The Rapper, I loved how he'd black out and agree to anything they asked, and Mr. Monk And The Red Haired Stranger. I especially liked it when he asked Willie Nelson what he was smelling and he told him he didn't smell anything. The only episodes I really didn't like were the ones with Dale the Whale.
  4. Are you insinuating that Jeopardy would allow him to cheat just so he could continue winning? Because I seriously doubt they would ever allow anything like that. There are dire consequences for gameshows that feed contestants questions or allow them to do things outside of the rules just so they'll win. I've noticed other people mentioning that it's odd James can find the DD's and they wonder about that, or that he changes answers and Alex overlooks it. I don't think he has a "crafty plan". I think he's just a very smart guy who is winning a lot of money. I wish I could do what he's doing but unfortunately the only record I'd probably break would be for the most money lost by a contestant.
  5. I thought this was a nice article about James. It makes me very happy to see he's giving some money to the Ronald McDonald House too. Several years ago I had a family member that was almost killed in a car wreck. He was 15 years old and is fine now. The people at the Atlanta Ronald McDonald House were amazing to us and made a difficult time a little bit easier. https://www.inquisitr.com/5452928/reigning-jeopardy-champ-james-holzhauer-has-begun-donating-his-prize-money-to-charity/
  6. I just hope that Alex is able to come back next season.
  7. I came here to post that same article. I should have known it would already be here because you guys are really on the ball! I hadn't noticed the hair but I have noticed he looks a little strained at times and you can tell he doesn't feel well. I can't imagine going through chemo and still getting dressed, and doing a job like he's doing. I had a friend that had stage 4 breast cancer and it was all she could to to get out of bed while she was going through her chemo. Congratulations to all of you who've been able to beat your cancer diagnosis. IRL I'm a nurse and have worked with a lot of cancer patients. I wish I could give you all a big hug.
  8. Great job Teebax! You were an excellent contestant. I wanted to kick Mr. Smarty Pants in the middle off his podium and also wanted to give Trevor a Valium because he looked like he was going to lose it at any time. If I ever got on a show like Jeopardy I wouldn't even be able to remember my name. I never do well on the anagrams categories. My mind isn't that quick. Congratulations on being the only one to get Final Jeopardy too.
  9. I almost broke my arm last night because I kept patting myself on the back. I knew all the TS's and Final Jeopardy. That doesn't happen very often and despite what I may think now, I'm pretty sure I really couldn't beat James. If you look at Jeopardy's website there is an excellent picture of Teebax there. I'll also be pulling for you tonight.
  10. I was an Air Force brat until I turned 16. I went to four countries before I was a year old. I was shocked to realize I couldn't shop at the commissary or BX after my dad retired and I got married. So not fair!
  11. WBTV showed them escorting his body back to Waynesville this morning. It broke my heart.
  12. You live close to me! I'm in Cleveland County, North Carolina. This shooting was heartbreaking because it was so senseless plus, UNC-Charlotte is my alma mater. I was hoping WCNC would show it later but they didn't.
  13. My dream is to someday be on Jeopardy for so long, and win so much money, that people say they're sick of looking at me.
  14. I'm also always wanting to stick an "s" in James last name. I think it's because I live in North Carolina and we used to have a governor named, James Holshouser. It's spelled differently but sounds the same. I counted out the woman on the end after she talked about writing in the margins of books. I'm a writer, plus I love to read, and have a tendency to treat books like they're sacred. I bet she marks them up with highlighters too!
  15. Thanks! I just relayed this info to a friend in NYC and I think I made him cry.
  16. I have dimples like that. Red hair too. I was born with all of it and can't change it. I'm glad my friends are nicer and more understanding than some of you are when it comes to people's looks. We can't all be perfect. btw, don't bother answering. After reading some of the responses here about a simple cooking show, that is not required watching, I'm pretty sure I won't be back. In case you're wondering too, I am not a follower of her or her show. I think I've watched it twice since it's been on. I remember when Television Without Pity was still around. One of the reasons they shut down the website was because of the nasty comments about The Pioneer Woman and some others. I hope that doesn't happen here.
  17. If I had the misfortune to play against James, and didn't know the answer to a Final Jeopardy question, I'd write, "What is: James my birthday is 4-28. Insert any year". I thought it was sweet that he teared up when talking about his grandmother and was also surprised that she was Japanese. I read in an interview that she spoke very little English but still enjoyed watching Jeopardy with him. I'd love to see how he would do against Watson.
  18. You forgot about the commercials for Peyronie's Disease and erectile dysfunction. I was worried about these until I realized: 1. I'm a woman 2. I'm a nurse and should know better. Whatever happened to the cute commercials with Tony the Tiger, Snap Crackle and Pop, Smokey the Bear, happy McDonald's people dancing around while they sang "You deserve a break today", while Burger King answered that we could have it our way? I miss commercials like that.
  19. I wasn't talking to you! You're nice.
  20. I don't understand the James "hate". I think he's a gracious player and one of the reasons I like him is he's not constantly interupting Alex. I've also noticed him not ringing in when he's way ahead in the game. In fact I first noticed it when Anna was a contestant. She was the woman last week that didn't ring in at all during the first round. I've also noticed that he makes a point of shaking hands with the other contestants at the end of the game. I don't like games where contestants start at the top and work their way down the row everytime. Especially when they don't even know the answers to the $200 questions. It's boring. I would think if you're a contestant in a game like this you're in it to win it. If you aren't, you shouldn't be there. I've also never understood personal slams against someone because of their looks. It's mean and not funny at all.
  21. I found this article about James. His wife is also a game show winner and was on "Who Wants To Be A Millionaire" in 2015. Several of his wagers have been in honor of different family members which I think is sweet. https://heavy.com/news/2019/04/james-holzhauer-jeopardy/
  22. Do you know a lot of serial killers? I hope none of his relatives read what you've said about him. I like James and I don't care who knows it! He strikes me as being a little shy but that's just my opinion. I'm happy to see a smart player who knows how to work the board, makes gutsy wagers, and doesn't wave the buzzer around like they're trying to land an airplane.
  23. According to an article I read he's using a method called, "The Forrest Bounce". Throughout the game, Hozhauer employed the Forrest Bounce, a strategy in which contestants constantly switch between categories rather than running down a single list of questions from top to bottom. The technique earns its name from Chuck Forrest, who first used it in Season 2 of Jeopardy!, then later went on to win the 1986 Tournament of Champions. Another article says his FJ bet of $3268 the other day was in honor of his nephew Jack who's birthday is 3/26/08. I think that was sweet and makes me like him even more.
  24. Three good players tonight! I'm still pulling for James even though some of you don't like him. I think he's a good player and not at all annoying. I thought Final Jeopardy was easy after I read the answer on The Jeopardy Fan board. Before that though, I didn't have a clue.
  25. I like the new champ! He doesn't go nuts on the buzzer, doesn't shift from side to side, doesn't interupt Alex, and he smiles! It's almost like he's read these boards and figured out what drives people crazy. He is an aggressive player but that's how you win the game. I also noticed he hesitated a couple of times, towards the end of the game, before he rang in and I think it was to give Anna a chance to ring in. I've never seen a player not answer anything on the first round of Jeopardy. I think the other two were just too fast on the buzzer. I felt sorry for her. I'm also pretty proud of myself for getting the correct Final Jeopardy answers two days in a row. That's a record for me! Now I have to call all of my family so I can brag about that.
