Point Break review – Keanu and Swayze ride the waves with freaky, genre-hopping style. "Kathryn Bigelow’s action-bromance about bank-robbing surfer dudes is an enduring cult gem, thanks to its joining of tropes and tones."

Probably hoping the wealth will be generational and you can tax them for it one day. But if there is one thing we have learned is that it's ok for rich people to avoid paying taxes... Trump has talked about scrapping the US green card lottery program, probably because the majority of green cards in that program end up going to people from non-white countries.

Umm I never said you were a Trump supporter. It's all abhorrent but bragging about it and encouraging that mindset and culture of impunity and entitlement when it comes to raping and sexually assaulting people is a few extra shades of gross.

Maybe, but the majority of them are probably worried they will face the Wrath of MAGA if they go against him. Don't worry! Starting on January 21st, 2025, the money you save on eggs and gasoline should be more than enough to get you and everyone else the most comprehensive and best insurance policy available. I'm not sure if "At least Trump was honest" is the flex you think it is...having things swept under the rug is one thing, being an unapologetic and unrepentant rapist and sexual assaulter is another.

S18.E18: Reunion, Part 1

I'd like to think that was Jenn trying to do a Nene from RHOA telling Sheree "You're not better than me bitch", but that would be giving Jenn too much credit. -
It's 2024 and for many Americans, they still can't seem to stomach the idea of having a female president. I don't see America being able to stomach having a gay man for president, even in 2028. He could be a good choice for VP for whoever is the nominee in 2028, but I'm not sure he could win as the choice for president. And I say this as a gay man.

You're voting for someone who is going to be changing the way of life for many people, in a negative way, not based on policies to improve the country, but one that will impact people's lives in how they live and in many cases relegating them to being second class citizens. It's not like the debate is about whether supply side economics will be better for the economy than demand side economics, this is a platform which includes hate for many marginalized communities, and nothing more than empty slogans about doing things like improving the economy (and the concrete stuff that was offered, like starting tariff wars with foreign countries, isn't reassuring). Yeah, for a good chunk of Trump's support base, he is sticking it to the people they don't like and/or feel unjustly threatened by. And he allows them to say out loud what they really feel. I mean, from the beginning, this guy was saying its cool to grab a woman by the Hello Kitty because she wants it or whatever? And this is who your moral barometer is ok with? This. But also This. I expect it from a country like the UK (no offense to anyone from the UK, but let's be honest, the media there overall, not completely, but more often than not, tends to fall more on the conservative side than unbiased) whereas the media in the US is supposed to be unbiased but lately seems to moving right of center. And there is the opinion that this has been a strategy of Trump's...keep throwing out insane nasty stuff as much as possible to the point where for many people it's become normalized so that people just tend to shrug their shoulders at it rather than be mad about it.

Desi Lydic from the Daily Show said it best, "I really don't care why she lost, I care why he won".

You mean when they call dems woke and baby killers and people who support groomers, it's said with affection and love? The Republicans tried for 5 minutes with DeSantis (who is just as bad as Trump), but once they saw that wasn't working, they just said "eff it, back to Trump".

So he now has 3 chances to screw it up.

Yes but only after they blame - in any random order - (liberal) women, brown people, Asians, queer people, immigrants (but not the ones who voted for him...mostly, and not the ones from "white" countries, unless they are queer), coastal elites (not the Trumpian or billionaire elites, natch), Hollywood liberals, the MSM, the deep state cabal, the Teletubbies...only after that will they blame his advisors and Congress.

Good song but my BM song choice would be Is This Love. Something about it makes it just so...infectious, for lack of a better word.

Yeah, a lot of non-white people seemed to focus on Trump's promise of lower prices, being tougher on immigration, lower taxes, etc. And more of them aligning to the same family values as the right is also worrying. 'It's simple, really' - why Latinos flocked to Trump's working-class coalition. Some quotes from the article: I do appreciate all these people fleeing socialism don't seem to mind potentially living under fascism.

The problem is, who would be Simba? Slim pickings at this point, if there are any.

S5.E8: The Desert and the Deserted

I’m surprised Angie hasn’t “planned” a trip to Greece yet. The Atlanta HWs already went to Athens, and Kyle and Erika from BH went to Mykonos, but there are still lots of other nice places they could go to, like Corfu, places in Crete, the Kalamata region, etc. -
But that isn't what you implied. Someone made a comment about how people were assuming Harris slept her way to the top. Then you replied: So again, why assume she had to make the beast with two backs to get any job or nomination at all?
-
But why automatically assume she was chosen by Biden because she had sex with the right people?
-
To many people, what was once the left is now the center, what was the center is now the right, and what was the right is now fascist. Someone earlier in the thread mentioned the long game of the Republicans, which in some ways has led to the center and mainstream shifting more and more to the right, with the left and the Democrats shifting more and more to the right over time. Not just a US problem. In France Macron spoke of working with the right wing parties instead of the left wing parties after their election, which wasn't appreciated by many people. Until the voters realize that most of the culture wars and talk of immigrants and woke is just a distraction from allowing corporations and billionaires to keep making more and more money (with the media overall complicit in this), people are going to keep going after the scapegoats. And unfortunately, the Democrats and left can only do so much, as they too are beholden to some of their corporate sponsors who don't have the people's best interests at heart.

Being pro-Palestinian or sympathetic to people living under a brutal system of apartheid and occupation even before the genocide began doesn't make one a terrorist stan. The majority of people are saying "Free Palestine" and "End the genocide", neither of which are genocidal rhetoric. And saying people aren't educated about the subject or that they truly care about the people there is BS.
