Well, that's always been the core of Superman. He could impose his will on everyone and solve virtually every problem. Two countries at war? Simple, he'll fly in and disarm both sides. People starving? No biggie, he can deliver food. Greedy corporations refuse to donate food? Yeah, good luck stopping him from just swooping in and taking it for the greater good. But he doesn't do it because he doesn't see himself as some all powerful enforcer of doing the right thing, he's just lending a friendly hand and hoping it inspires others to do the same. I'm sure that infuriates some people (you're letting people suffer, you reluctant asshole) but that's the core of his character.

S03.E01: What If?…The Hulk Fought the Mech Avengers?
baldryanr replied to chitowngirl's topic in What If...?
It would be interesting to poll the audience and ask them what the merging mecha reminds them of. Is is Voltron, Power Rangers, or something else? -
You're not going to believe this, but Steve Belichick is expected to join his dad at UNC next year Probably for the best that UNC's next head coach gets acquainted with the program now.

Let's see, watch two playoff contenders or watch a 2-12 team that's likely to lose its 10th straight game? Yeah, I think we know what the better choice is. Any masochists who want to watch the Giants can find another way.

From the article - I don't think it would be a big deal if the new Bond actor is gay, but if 007 himself is (and/or non-white) then a lot of the people who "love it" will crucify the move. She's right that Bond should always be British (or Scottish, Welsh, etc.). Same for Harry Potter, the Doctor, etc. It might be popular for Brits to whip out their best American accents for characters like Superman, Batman, etc. but the reverse seems to be a big no-no.

Based on the cheers during Weekend Update, maybe they should try to get Luigi Mangione to host.

And that is no doubt inspired by Christopher Reeve's portrayal because comics will always incorporate elements of the movies/TV shows. If the bar is "the comics, but not influenced by other media" then we're talking stuff from decades ago.

Rickey Henderson has died Greatest leadoff hitter of all time. His stolen base record will never be broken.

It doesn't have to be Doomsday to lay the smackdown on Superman. We don't know how powerful this version is - will he be like the Silver Age version who could move a planet with a sneeze, or is he in line with the DCAU version who broke a sweat and could be slowed down by heavy ordinance?

For better or worse, the X-Men movies showed how you can have a lot of characters but only focus on a select few.

So, what type of stats would a WR need to be the MVP? 2000+ yards, 25 TDs? Plus every QB would have to be mediocre or miss significant time due to injury.

Saruman shows up because Tolkien said he went to Frealaf's coronation. That's not fan service, that's canon. Now, if Gandalf had shown up at some point, that would have been fan service.

Young Luke, sure. Experienced Jedi Master Luke wouldn't react with serene detachment, but time to go murder my nephew is quite the leap. Maybe call Leia and get her to weigh in before leaping to the lightsaber option?

Turning your original heroes into mopey failures is guaranteed to piss people off unless it's done perfectly. Imagine a Harry Potter sequel where one of Harry/Ginny or Ron/Hermione's kids becomes the new Voldemort while the original trio divorces and/or goes into hiding, or a LOTR followup where King Aragorn ends up creating a corrupt Gondor (and yes, I know Tolkien explicitly said he was an awesome ruler). Think that would be well received because hey, it's realistic?
