!!!!!!!!DR. BISHOP!!!!! (I'm so happy I hadn't read anything about this episode so I was totally shocked when I saw his face - have to say happy tears ensued. It was wonderful to see John Hannah again - he went right back to being Dr. Bishop at his best.) Unfortunately, nope, not a fakeout or nightmare unless the last episode is going to say episodes 8&9 were a dream (a la the "dream year" of Dallas). This episode was just sublime.....the show is ending on a real high. There is still so much to tie-up. Will Bash take over Mags' position at York Memorial? Will Dr. Bishop come back to the hospital in some capacity? I can't imagine there won't be some fall-out from Mark being reappointed to be the head of Trauma OR by the CMO - is that Dr. Olsen??? Will Dr. Devi resign because of this? (And, unbelievably, this episode made me feel a glimmer of hope that Mark may actually be a decent human being under all that bravado. Had to laugh at the expression on his face when June & Dr. Singh looked at him as if he had two heads when he said he reads studies.) Will June go to Cleveland? What the hell is Theo going to do with his life? (And, is what's-her-name out of it? - I've never cared for her.) Seeing the whole team together in Bash's flashback where he was handcuffed to the gurney Amira was on really touched the heartstrings. The acting by the whole ensemble was phenomenal. It was palpable how they all were struggling with Mags' death. Above all - I'm hoping Bash can finally be at peace with himself and his life, whatever route he chooses to go, and to be able to remember those he has lost with happiness and gratitude.

Thank you so much DanaK. Mags knew she was going to die. I think Bash knew it too, but wouldn't admit it to himself or Mags. Laurence Lebouef & Hamza Haq knocked it out of the park. I'm curious as to Bash's questioning of Mag's cardiologist & surgeon after she died. The questions he asked seemed like questions someone who had no knowledge of heart transplants or heart physiology would ask. Wonder if it was a way to show that when our loved one is a patient we all have the same reactions. I have no idea how the show is going to tie up all the loose ends in the two remaining episodes. Bash & Theo are pretty similar to one another. Both follow their hearts. I think Bash is a little more rule-centric, but I think he still feels that his life in Canada could be taken away in a flash and that worries him. Wouldn't a clinic headed by Bash, Theo & Elliot be a wonderful place for Torontonians to get medical care? June's decision to relocate seemed very rushed. Not sure how much of it is her not being happy with where she's at personally and running away from that or not liking being involved in the politics of being in charge and just wanting to be a surgeon. I feel the same as statsgirl where it seems like the show is foreshadowing a romantic relationsip between June & Novak. I sure hope it doesn't happen. He's a dick and is toxic. He would destroy anyone he was involved with. I think I understand what the show is trying to convey with how the hospital is handling Claire's use of painkillers, but is it a realistic portrayal? Trusting Claire to police herself could come back and bite the hospital. I wonder if we will get an end-story to this arc? I will so miss this show :(.

Season 4 Discussion Thread
YorkshireLass replied to DanaK's topic in All Creatures Great And Small (2021)
From what was said by Helen and by his living conditions, Wesley probably did not have a happy upbringing. There was no mention of his parents so they could be out of the picture. Helen alluded to his difficulties at school. He's probably one of the lost children that still exist today. A very smart child, but not school-smart whose interest in learning was squashed by the education system. I'm betting he learned more by doing the work at Skeldale House that one day with James encouraging him than he did in years at school. My hope for him is that he blossoms at the farm and his experience there prepares him for a job in the farming industry. As said by others, I don't think this episode was one of the series better ones. Quite a few people on this forum have said for the last couple of seasons that they wanted the focus of the show to turn back to the animals and their stories. Unfortunately, the show seems to be moving even further away even though the Executive Producer said in an interview that there were so many more "Herriott animal stories" in the books that they were looking forward to bringing to the screen in Season 4. I'm hoping that didn't mean we'd get one story per show. I guess we'll have to wait and see. -
That would be lovely! I'd love to be able to discuss what has happened in Season 4 without having to worry about spoiling it to the US viewers on Season 3. Thanks!

SPOILERS for US viewers currently watching Season 3 (Not sure if we need this or not - can someone please clarify???) Wow, was not expecting that at all 😭, but I wondered if things were being foreshadowed when Mags got her coffee and walked down the street with that blissful expression on her face. Both Hamza Haq & Laurence Lebouef hit their scenes out of the park last night and both should get CSA's for that. There are so many options for Bash going forward. I wonder what route he'll take. Theo leads with his heart. Not sure what's got his ladyfriend's knickers in such a knot all of a sudden. She was acting like his behaviour was something new. It's not - it's been there for a long time. Wouldn't it be ironic if he takes over the older doctor's practice? I wonder if June talked to Lou before making the decision to take the job in Cleveland. I totally understand Mags being pissed-off at her. I wonder how that is going to affect June going forward. I'm with hula-la - very sad there are only two more episodes left. I will really miss the show. (And, I'm still hoping Dr. Bishop will make an appearance!)
-
Wow, that was intense and I think one of the best episodes they've ever done. What the heck could have happened between Elliott & Bash?
-
I thoroughly enjoyed the season 4 premiere, but I totally agree with you hula-la, it felt somewhat bittersweet watching it knowing this was the last season premiere we'll be getting. I think it would have been very interesting to see the day from Dr. Singh's perspective too. Hope he will be ok. They've got a lot of territory to cover and loose ends to tie up in the next nine episodes. I hope that's enough time for the series to end on a high note. Fingers crossed! I wonder if the purpose of showing Bash helping that older woman in the flashback was to reinforce his utter selflessness in rescuing others. (I was very surprised he'd leave Amira alone on the other side of the fence.) Perhaps he'll work with Doctors Without Borders and leave the ER position at York Memorial for Mags (although, would she even be considered for the position with her being on the transplant list?) Also, just had another thought after typing that last sentence. The series started with Bash being the "transplanted" person in Canada. Will it end with a more typical interpretation of "transplant" in Mags getting a new heart? I'm looking forward to finding out.

Season 3 was very good and I hope you enjoy it 😊. I don't think the show was actually cancelled per se. The creator of the show said it was always his intention for it to have a four-year arc following Bash's medical residency and have the show end when Bash's residency ended. The show has always been very high up in the ratings in Canada (see below) and; based on that, could definitely have carried on. https://www.bellmedia.ca/the-lede/press/award-winning-ctv-original-drama-transplant-concludes-with-season-4-beginning-october-6/ - "Since its debut in 2020, TRANSPLANT has routinely ranked as a Top 20 series on CTV and has remained the most-watched Canadian drama series each broadcast year. To date, the series has amassed 23 Canadian Screen Award nominations, and has been honoured with 15 wins, including two wins for Best Dramatic Series and three consecutive wins for Hamza Haq in the Best Lead Performer, Drama Series category." - I too have enjoyed the focus on the medical patients & their stories and have my fingers crossed Season 4 continues to do the same. It's such a pleasure to not have a medical show devolve into a soap opera. Hopefully, the show will go out on a high note.

Canadian premiere date for Season 4 is Friday, October 6 @ 9:00 p.m. on CTV https://www.bellmedia.ca/the-lede/tv/ctv/transplant/ I'm hoping Bishop will show up too greekmom 😊

So, according to this article https://www.msn.com/en-ca/news/canada/transplant-creator-says-complete-story-of-syrian-doc-in-canada-wraps-this-season/ar-AA1gELqB?ocid=hpmsn&cvid=3112e8b02fec4f81aed0c61248e66670&ei=17 , Season 4 is the final season of Transplant 😢. I'll be very sorry to see it go, but I prefer to see a series end on a high note rather than go on-and-on for years. Hopefully, the last 10 episodes tie everything up as they knew this was the end going in. Fingers crossed.

I think that episode was one of the most memorable ones from the entire series. I remember being in absolute tears watching it. Crying for Mark because it all went so wrong. Crying for the husband who lost his wife. Crying for the baby who would never know their mother. Freddie Highmore is a treasure. As far as August Rush is one of my favourite movies (in spite of all the cliches & how truly unbelievable it is), it's because of his acting. The absolute joy on his face during the guitar slap scene is something to be watched again & again (as is seeing Robin Williams' reaction to it). I'm glad the season ended the way it did without any cliffhangers. Actually, if Glassman & Shaun had figured out how to move forward in their relationship, it would have been a great series finale.

So very happy and relieved to hear the show has been renewed. It will be very interesting to see if there will be a season 5. Will CTV continue on with a popular, well-regarded tv show or will they choose to end it as Bash's residency comes to an end? Not too thrilled with only 10 episodes in the season, but I'll take what I can get. See you all in the Fall!

I just watched this https://www.pbs.org/wgbh/masterpiece/clips/all-creatures-great-and-small-s3-looking-ahead-to-season-4/# and found it quite interesting that Melissa Gallant(Executive Producer of the show), said, to paraphrase, there are so many more "Herriott animal stories" in the books and they're looking forward to bringing them to the screen in Season 4. Makes me wonder if the criticism about the lack of animal stories in Season 3 has been duly noted. I hope it has.

It's strange, but the first two seasons didn't seem this short. I'm used to North American shows where at one point we used to get 22 to 26 episodes per season. Now, it's 18 to 20. Sure wish this show did a longer season. I've looked forward to it each year and the episodes whiz by and then it's the long, long wait till the next season 😞.

This episode had me in tears throughout. This show is so well done. I like programs that make me "feel" and this series continues to do that in almost every episode. Helen knowing what was in James' heart and telling him she supported him in following it despite the possibility of losing him. Tristan being so utterly lost and James and Florence recognizing it and urging him to discover what he wants from life. (I hope he ends up with Florence.) Siegfrid on so many fronts. Feeling he's failed Tristan. Being put in the position of having to euthanize animals again because of another damn war. His utter devastation that seemingly nothing was learned from World War 1. His recognization that Dash meant something very special to Mrs. Hall and allowing the dog to stay in the Farnon household. (I wonder how many other "war" pets will be brought to Skeldale House once the news gets out that they've taken Dash in.) Children being evacuated and taken away from their parents and the life they knew and going towards a very unknown future. My father was evacuated from an industrial city in Yorkshire because his mother knew it could be a German target. Dad was one of the fortunate kids who ended up in a wonderful home with two older women who doted on him and wanted to adopt him after the war was over (needless to say, my Grandma said no). Many children were not so fortunate and were worked to the bone on farms that had no men to do the work and used the children in their place. I can't believe next week is already the end of the season. Why are there so few episodes?

James strikes me as someone who very much believes in doing your duty for clients, friends, family & country. I think he believes it's his duty to go and fight for Britain. Logically, in his brain, he knows he's needed at home to continue on with his vet work throughout the war, but his heart and belief system is telling him something else.

I'm not sure what the end-game is with where the show is going with Bash. His meeting up with the friend who caused him to be imprisoned seemed like a non-event (maybe it was supposed to because how would Bash get closure from speaking with him). I'm finding these past two episodes very choppy with the moving between storylines in the different countries. I think the continuity of the show would have been better served by having one episode totally focus on Bash's story. It seems like everyone is falling apart with the exception of Theo & Devi. He finally seems to be getting his mojo back and she's coming into her own as a leader. Leading and doing what she thinks is right rather than worrying what everyone else is thinking about her. Does anyone know how many more episodes we're going to get? I've read that the season is going to be 13 episodes and then other places say 15. If it's only 13, they've got a lot of loose ends to tie up in one episode unless they're going to leave us with multiple cliffhangers.

It's possible that Georgina could have been feral at one point so she was only comfortable with the woman who fed and housed her. Any other human would cause her huge stress. I had three sister littermates. They were hell on wheels at the vets from the time they were 8 weeks old. No idea why - they were lovely, very placid cats except when they were at the vets. There were warning stickers plastered all over their files so everyone at the practice knew to be careful.
-
Farmers not being confident in James' ability to diagnosis illnesses was a running theme when he was new to the practice. I think, in the case of the dead cow, the farmer was far more interested in getting insurance money rather than getting a proper diagnosis. Cow killed by lightning equals money. Cow dying of natural causes doesn't. One thing I'm a bit confused about (and maybe I missed it). Why was the head groomsman so focused on having the horse destroyed? Obviously, something happened involving him, the horse and the riding crop on the trip from Ireland to England, but how would that benefit the guy? I'm hoping we get to see Seigfried help the horse recover and also see the head groomsman & stable lads involved in the crop incidents get their comeuppance in a future episode.

No worries 😊 - I wasn't 100% sure. Do you have any idea what Claire was looking at in the cubicle before she was stabbed? She didn't look afraid at all - she looked almost mesmerized by something. Bash is so damaged (no wonder given what he's lived through). I'm hoping he finds a way to be able to live his life with joy & happiness; both professionally and personally.
