  1. I had this same thought, but we've never seen Sam really care about a guy before, I think. She was confident about the hot guy next door, but that was just sex. Yeah, though a lot of people don't believe it, a lot of big girls have no problem getting laid, and don't hate themselves or their bodies. But she's really into Iceland, so she's feeling vulnerable. I do think a lot of Sam's confidence is bravado, there's always an undercurrent of insecurity with her, but in this case, she's afraid of falling too hard and getting hurt.
  2. I thought this was the best episode of the series, so far. Just ridiculously funny and gut punch sad in equal measure. The opening scenes of 3 years ago were devastating, and I loved seeing Meredith Hagner as Roy Kent's (I can't remember his name on this show!) girlfriend. I hope we see her later. I was so sad for him when Jimmy told him he forgave him but to stay away from his family and friends. I think they've become his lifeline.
  3. I'm in Louisville Ky and we have a fantastic local restaurant that features an avocado dessert: avocado ice cream with a chocolate shell, and the pit is a bourbon truffle. It's delish and looks exactly like an avocado. I loved seeing Dylan's avocado. (that sounds dirty, sorry)
  4. One of my faves of the year. It's just bittersweet and beautiful, and and the sweet, simple message at its heart could have been cheesy but wasn't. I knew Maisy from Nashville and this was such a confident, charming big screen debut for her. And Aubrey's already kind of a legend, but the scene with the hug between her and Chad...that was some phenomenal, subtle acting on her part. I was already crying, but I quite frankly lost my shit. Lovely film.
  5. The 2019 Sairose Ronan/Greta Gerwig version is EXCELLENT tho! Jason's a thug. Michael's an idiot. Drew is a creep. Who are we supposed to root for on this show? Even beautiful, sweet Lucky is a whiny deadbeat.
  6. Pepper is actually Bridget's pooch Lulu! Which makes it extra sad she didn't get to adopt her
  7. Cuz she has a giant crush on him. Girl, me too.
  8. She and DD are still on good terms, apparently....I'd love if he played the missing husband next season.
  9. I'm 16 years older than my husband of 20 years, so I'm all in on May-December romances, but the idea of Tracy and Cody is just creepy to me. She could be his grammy. Just no
  10. Agree to disagree. Naked Father Peloton is pretty much what's keeping me watching. Loved the impromptu musical interlude in the car to hell or purgatory or Centralia or wherever they're going. Michaela Diamond made her TV premiere in the televised John Legend/Sara Bareilles Jesus Christ Superstar, and she was Sara's understudy for Mary Magdalene, who of course sang this song. It's these little weird, gonzo moments that make me love Ryan Murphy even at his worst. Which I'm not saying this is. I just have no clue what's happening. I liked Travis Kelce.
  11. I've seen a lot of folks on TikTok and reddit objecting to this show because it doesn't portray the brothers accurately, and because it leaves doubt as to who the monsters are...but I think the point is very much made that everyone here is a monster. The series most definitely doesn't downplay the abuse by the monstrous parents, but it also shows us how it made monsters of the sons. I'm not even sure what Erik's objections to the series is, exactly, tho of course I'm sure much is guesswork and speculative and pure fiction. It's not a documentary. And it's a Ryan Murphy project. You almost always know, going in, that it's going to be sensationalized and lurid and homoerotic. I think Nicholas Chavez (and he IS the younger of the two actors, even though he played the older brother) was fantastic, even if the characterization of Lyle doesn't seem to jibe with the brothers' champions. They say he's too arrogant and brash and that Lyle was never that, that he was shy and sweet, but don't we have actual evidence of the arrogance and spoiled brattiness of the two, both prior and after the crimes? The tapes of Lyle's phone calls to "Norma" bear out his cockiness and cunning, do they not? And Chavez did a great job showing his vulnerabilities too. The viewers laughing at the toupee being ripped off by his mother astounded me. That was clearly traumatic.
  12. While I don't completely disagree about Giancarlo (tho for a really off-brand performance from him, check out the 2020 film Unpregnant) I still enjoy watching him. But I couldn't agree more about JDM. I have no trouble separating actor from role, usually, but I despised Negan so very much that the role has completely ruined JDM for me. I quit The Walking Dead because of him (no huge loss). Some try to tell me that that just shows what a great actor he is, because you're supposed to hate Negan, but no. It's exactly as you said above: he's the same guy an awful lot, and without much nuance or distinction between performances, and I just can't stand his face. Which I'm sure is unfair, cuz the actor is reportedly a really nice guy but whatever. I can watch people blow up and die on this show in a million different ways and it doesn't much bother me, but I had to look away from the animal carnage. Though Simon Pegg did get to me. RIP Hughie Sr.
  13. I loved Blackish's Junior. He was a sweet, kind, smart little nerd, and I LIKE sweet, kind, smart nerds. So yeah, to suddenly make him this playa, this frat boy, this hustler...it does not work. He's cute enough, but lacks the charisma and sculpted everything to make us buy this, and there is NO NEED for it. Not everyone needs to be a baller, and Junior was never one, and Andre doesn't need to be one. It's bizarro.
