  1. The writing on this show is so awful that I felt like turning the program off after Jackie's shrieking during the opening sequence. The Conners pales in comparison to the original Roseanne, where I could empathize with the major characters and there were plenty of laugh out loud moments. The Roseanne reruns are shown almost daily by my cable provider and I just viewed the episodes where Dan's father was secretly dating Crystal and then she announced to Jackie and Roseanne that she was pregnant. I totally understood Dan's fury at his dad, as well as Roseanne's need to support her close friend Crystal despite the huge age discrepancy between Ed/Crystal and their complicated marital history. My point is that in a single episode there were a gamut of emotions portrayed, fantastic acting by the leads, and crisp writing that made me really care about the fate of the Conner family members. What happened to this show??? Every plot on the current program seems contrived and not in keeping with the personalities of the characters I have grown to love. I really don't know how much longer I can tolerate this nonsense that passes for situation comedy.
  2. Mattea revealed this week that she had the lead role in her high school musical, so her theatre experience combined with years of debating have given her a high comfort level with performing in front of a live audience. However, her actions last night were the last straw for me. The eye rolling, hand on hip stance, stream of consciousness dialogue, and facial expressions were so overly dramatic that I just couldn't tolerate her behavior. I really don't care if the producers condone and/or encourage these actions; it simply appeared to me as self-indulgent and immature even for a 23-year-old. Why does she believe that the viewing audience cares about her every thought? I can't wait for her to play against Matt and Amy in order to gain a bit of humility. Remember that both Matt and Amy have expertise in sci/tech areas and Matt is a true sports aficianado, which have not been strong areas for Mattea. Speaking of Amy, i wasn't surprised that she quit her day job and hired a show business agent. She probably needs to capitalize on her fame very soon because the general public's memory is short.
  3. Debbie needs to get off dating sites and start meeting people (both male and female) in the flesh where they encounter each other in natural, non-stressful situations. I had the bright idea that Debbie should volunteer at one or more local animal shelters where she would meet people with a shared love of cats/dogs. I go for walks in my neighborhood park and there are so many genuinely nice men out there exercising their dogs. It is so easy to start a conversation with them, especially if you show a real interest in their pets. At least she could find companionship because she is so lonely right now. In addition, she should rejoin a bowling league and/or a gym for both the social and physical benefits. There are so many ways she could meet people other than casinos and dating sites. Just sitting in her room because two losers weren't attracted to her is so depressing and non-productive. In addition, she needs to find a happy medium between the old fogey outfits she used to wear and the new inappropriate, unflattering attire she wore on her last two dates. In regard to Jay, Debbie should not demean herself by trying to track him down via social media and other sources. She doesn't need to become a Senior Stalker. He is not worth her time or mental energy. It would be far more constructive for Debbie to meet men in normal everyday activities where the expectations are not so unrealistically high.
  4. I urge everyone to read an extremely informative article published on November 20, 2018 by Dave Quinn on people.com entitled "RHONJ's Jackie Goldschneider Details Her Decade-Long Battle with Anorexia - and How She Got Help." It is important to note that Jackie joined RHONJ in 2018 and in this article Dave Quinn stated that Jackie was "now four years into treatment and at a healthy, stable weight." Jackie was also quoted as saying "my husband absolutely loves that I eat now." She claimed that a therapist recommended a nutritionist who "saved her life." Therefore, I call BS on the manner in which this ED storyline has been presented, where the viewers are led to believe that this is the FIRST TIME Jackie has sought treatment for anorexia!! If this show were truthful with the audience, it would send a more powerful message regarding how difficult it is to overcome an ED and that relapses are quite common. I also feel that there were definite triggers in Jackie's life during the past four years that contributed to her disordered eating. Possibly having to be on camera where your physical appearance would be scrutinized made her self-conscious about her weight. I believe her husband is probably exhausted because he has been through this from 2014-2018 and thought she was out of the woods only to discover that the same eating patterns have re-emerged. I know that Jackie is in her 40s. Maybe symptoms of perimenopause have added this problem from both a physical and psychological standpoint?
