  1. Is this show for real? Why did Parker yell "CALMM DOWN!" at the overheated slaughterhouse guy? So jarring and comedic. No wonder his head got slammed against the table, then his mid-60s ass got flung across it. In the promo for next week, even more grievous hurt for him.
  2. ^"Heartfelt" writing is the main genre that ncis writers know. Did they seriously give 35% of this episode to Curtis, who has no historical or celebrity significance? Once again, I am underwhelmed. Fornell had 10 seconds to be adorable with his fellow slightly-younger chum (Parker). Someone noticed the parallel between Fornell crashing on Gibbs' couch, to sleeping on Parker's couch now. No one in their 70s is sleeping on any couch though.
  3. NCIS renewed for season 22 (2024-2025). Go,go,go, Gary! No word on NCIS Hawaii yet. Any guesses? https://tvline.com/news/ncis-renewed-season-22-cbs-1235198589/
  4. This episode had 3 writers, 1 of which is the ncis showrunner himself (since the Gary Cole seasons). He is a good writer (the hard-hitting Parker scene, the unusual Vance-Parker-diner lol-scene). Unfortunately he isn't great at strategizing the arc of the seasons, like this season. Don't mean to make this too Real Life, but we all know good accountants who don't become the best CFO right? Interesting bread crumbs: is AI-daddy a Big Bad (actor can pull it off)? Did they set up the season finale? (I think yes). Is Curtis a Big Bad mole? Why is he guesting so much when Kasie could cover all his techspeak exposition?
  5. I cannot believe after 48 episodes of Gary Cole, no one on the crew cares about his hair continuity. It keeps varying by an inch (especially over the ears) throughout the episode. In every episode. Takes viewers out of the whole story. It's so obvious they film his longer hair scenes first, then a hair trim, then the shorter hair scenes are done. Repeat each episode. I like his hair short, above the ears. You? Other than that, father Knight is a silver fox too. Don't care about the hallmarky doo-cute doo-dramatic.
  6. Yep, agree with everything. This ep was twisty-turny with doe-eyed girlfriend. Boyfriend turned out to be a weirdo flake (with top secret blueprints access), but no one cares. The heeheehaha B-plot of Torres shacking up with Parker? Well, I guess the most unrealistic part was it was written like Parker is a fellow 40-something like the rest, and not... Much older than the team. This one was directed by Ncis LA star Daniela Ruah. She must like Gary Cole, nearly all the black-and-white phoofs started and ended on him (the way it should be). Next episode airs March 25. The character in focus will be...
  7. Is Till busy nowadays? I found him ok, but smirks too much. And CBS can't give a second famous, re-imagined role to the same actor. The public will think "wtf? Are there only 10 actors in CBS's pocket?" I won't watch Young Gibbs, so idc. Guy is gorgeous. Maybe in a more pretty-boy way than Ncis-era Harmon. Guy has a bigger chin, to nitpick. I wonder if expensive NCIS Hawaii will get cancelled... Because Young Gibbs show has to follow directly after NCIS...
  8. Wow, they have been working Gary Cole like a dog this season. He was in over 80% of this episode. Not complaining, as he is the only reason I watch this network schlock. I wished he had meatier material to chew on, but I'm guessing Ncis has always been a lightweight "heeheehaha". Cole will turn 68 later this year. So hardworking.
  9. Paramount/CEO execs get paid 7-figs, and their solution is to... Double-down (no, triple-down) on NCIS and new spinoffs. They figure Tivah fans might skew 40ish yo, as opposed to ncis viewers who skew older(?) At least NCIS OG's renewal is now rock-solid guaranteed for the 2024-2025 season (to cross-promote the spinoffs), so I get a few more droplets of Parker lore. This Tivah show will film in Europe, not L.A like ncis og. So, I don't think cote and weatherly will cameo on OG again. Fine with me, as Gary Cole doesn't get enough good material, as it is.
  10. ^Parker gets 1 episode, like everyone else who... Can't anchor the show. If this 10-episode season was a Gibbs one, he'd have at least 4 about him: - a dead child= angy. - Connecting with another victim= angy to solve the case. - Angy about animal abuse= angy. - And 1 more. At this point, just use the potted plant in Vance's office as Gary Cole's stand-in.
  11. Fun enough, but still in cliché NCIS flavor. Guess Vance and Parker can communicate without words now, like Siegfried and Roy. Rocky himself directed this episode. Kasie can make me tear up with her "I am in fear", " I am all alone" emotional lines, but her chemistry with CIA Webb was nonexistent. Parker could have been more caring when Kasie invited herself into the massacre scene, but at least he really beat himself up by sending her to get food... And get kidnapped.
  12. I think LL Cool J's salary has blown the budget of NCIS: Hawaii. This might be their last season, given the diminishing returns. Interview with CBS prez Amy R., she had positive comments about all other NCIS including Sydney, but nothing to say about Hawaii. Amy Reisenbach On CBS Switching To Long-Term Development With No Pilots This Season, Launching 2023-24 Lineup With Super Bowl & ‘NCIS’ Future By Nellie Andreeva January 31, 2024 https://deadline.com/2024/01/cbs-2024-2025-tv-season-plans-super-bowl-ncis-1235808963/ Also, the new NCIS: Origins (young Gibbs show) must directly follow behind original NCIS in the 2024-2025 season. So what now? Move Hawaii to 8pm? Unlikely.
  13. It hit me. They had to waste the finale and this "miscommunication storyline" premiere on torres, because they weren't sure if wilmer wanted out for Zorro. Obviously, Zorro ain't happening this spring/year, so we are saddled with another season of tedious torres. At least they gave Parker some small comedy and drama bits to play here, including the call "cliffhanger" (it isn't). Parker is the only one who can anchor the show. The rest may be likable (or tedious), but forgettable.
  14. Yes, nearly no one cares about torres stilted acting, except for the actor himself. Wilmer did an interview about this ep, where he romanticized that this ep "broke something" in torres. Puh-leeze. Stfu. I think Parker is a younger brother with a big sister history too, from the knowing look he gave Sis Torres when they first talked in the conference room. The team bettah stick their necks out even more when Parker has his inevitable-in-grave-danger ep this finale. He's really doing even more for team than ever before. This writer Christopher Waild is usually one of the better ones, but he was saddled with torres. What can you do?
  15. "Fun fact, as a Parker, I always find good parking." Where do they come up with these eccentric lines for Gary Cole? Knight should have said "oh? Are you a nosy Parker too?" I give them props for not pushing Parker-Knight into a stereotypical dad-daughter simile; that's for Parker-Kasie. Ish.
  16. Yes, Kasie in that scene jumped out at me. Too out of character. Guess they didn't have McGee available to be there so the two senior agents could bounce that "trade the kidnapped dad" idea off each other. The senator's house is stunning. It has to be a real house, and not an elaborate set constructed for 1 episode. The view outside was great and hilly. Is DC that hilly? Can anyone ID whatever region of LA looks this great? Maybe Santa Barbara hills?
  17. Someone commented that Katrina Law has a very Hallmark-y way of acting and I can't unsee that. Her usual moves are turning on the dramatic waterworks, or doing the cheesy fun gal thing. This episode tried to be too "clever" with too many twists, including the twist of the team knowing to fake being knocked out by the fake gas? Somehow? But the 1 cool twist imo was the Justin Theroux lookalike going from comedic husband to this ep's Russian baddie. I wonder if they're setting up another "twist" that the US senator flirting with Parker over pastries turns out to be *gasp* bad. Or maybe it's too politically impolite for NCIS show to go there.
  18. I was torn about this Big Bad. Actor was decent, but the direction/writing was so cheesily bad. Like a 2000's thriller movie cheesy, especially the mysterious calling everyone. Surprised they made this an Allie episode. I forget she's supposed to be book smart as they show Beau with much more theoretical knowledge. Guessing sis and bro coroners will be replaced for the remainder 5 episodes this season.
  19. Yay eagles! The promo for the next one airing 3/13 is about biotoxins (again), and it looks pretty intense. Will be interesting how they tie in the eagles cam. I think they'd need 4 core NCIS agents to split up all the scenes, so valderrama couldn't just show up less, I don't think. Tbh he's quite easily replaceable. Cast for any younger, athletic "hunk"... clear diction would be a bonus.
  20. Used to watch that, might check it out again! Back to CSI, Josh and Penny are rarely in scenes together and they have an odd, interesting relationship here. To oversimplify, I might say it's an "older brother who isn't close to and dunno what to do with much younger sister" Penny.
  21. This one was such a good episode, bad guy at the end was quite captivating and resembled a young RDJ (in intensity too). No way NCIS writers need another gig. CSI had an okay reason for using heterochromia here: phenotype visible during interrogation, with easy genes to find and back it up. NCIS is lightweight popcorn cheese, CSI episodes, when done well, can leave you gripped and thinking. Next episode of both these shows have similarities from the promos and synopsis too: bio-toxin poisoning, team members in danger, yellow hazmat suits. Have your spot-the-difference cards ready. I'd love to see creepy Gene the stalker again. Glad it's 2 days away.
  22. NCIS was renewed for its 21st season (2023-2024) on 2/21/2023. Cast members confirmed to return are Gary Cole and Brian Dietzen. Below news concerns wilmer valderrama, not NCIS. https://deadline.com/2023/03/bryan-cogman-showrunner-writer-reimagined-disney-plus-zorro-series-1235278548/ I really hope valderrama leaves NCIS and takes his low-energy monotone with him. The writers have had to burn 3 episodes per season on "uh, we gotta make wilmer look bad ass. Maybe we should send him undercover... Or in danger? Or undercover in danger?". His episodes are dead weight and suck time away from the better-acted characters.
  23. Carolyn Hennesy could have been fun as Parker's sister the admiral, as they both have the same stern, handsome vibe. But alas, this season already used her as the new SecNav. The carousel of Parker-adjacent characters are fun, but I'm eager for pivotal scarring moments to happen to him on the job. He has escaped surprisingly unscathed so far. Heck they have a full Cheesecake Factory menu of bad-things that happened to Gibbs, time to pick a few entrees and inflict them on Parker. Nigel Yang, the seniors' home manager was so cloying and patronizing (as intended). He reminded me clearly of how people really hate being patronized. "And who do I have the pleasure of meeting today?" No thanks.
  24. This was the big 450th episode and the cast did some promo interviews on ET,EW and some local news. I was underwhelmed by the story's pacing and how the pieces connected. But I give NCIS credit for daring to make this promoted milestone episode about new Parker and his even newer character Dad, instead of dragging out the tired, old Bullying Bull to cameo (if you catch my drift...). Parker's Dad is great on the show and I expect to see him once per future season (just like Delilah's season slot), though I wish we could see more of him.
  25. I like the Allie-Det Chavez breezy friendship. (Yes, Allie was written in a silly way here ignoring protocol). Expect that their friendship will be soured when Josh "chooses" Allie instead, probably in this season finale. That triangle will be tedious to watch and detract from cases even more. This show just seems to be cycling out the support cast like they're temporary chips. As if it's flying episode by episode and not planning for the next season hopefully. I like the Dr Aurchbach twist. Like Allie said who'da thunk a "61 year old woman" was highly involved(?) in the mysterious killings?
