  1. The actress that plays Paige looked so much older this episode. I couldn't get over it. I was hoping she would get into D&D with Sheldon's friends. I also called Mandy being pregnant. I'm now calling an unfortunate end to the pregnancy (and I know that seems dark for a sitcom but look at all the other things it has dealt with and is set up to deal with down the line). Love Missy helping Meemaw through her post break up stride, and also really caring about Paige. I'm a little surprised Paige never tried to reach out to Missy at all.
  2. I'm rewatching the revival and Emily's deadpan "Lorelei, go away." 3/4 of the way through Fall killed me.
  3. I also know of a pastor who said no thank you to a donation when he learned the money was from a newly born again church member selling off his pornography collection. He said while he appreciated the offer, the money was made off passing one's sin off to another person and he felt the collection should have been destroyed rather than passed on to another. YMMV on whether porn is sinful, but I respected the pastor for sticking to his morals.
  4. The vitriol toward/slut shaming of Pam in this thread is a little disappointing.
  5. Just came in to say I actually laughed out loud at the scene in the walk in closet and actually replayed it a couple times. "Dinner every night in Fiji, so you have to wear all these dresses...and in the night it gets cold so you have to wear this HAT" *just plops the hat on her face*
  6. I haven't made it through all 55 pages so I apologize if this nit has been picked, but having recently rewatched Say Goodnight, Gracie, and there's no way Dave read the entire Bible in one night. There's no way he even skimmed it looking for context clues of the quote he was seeking in one night. Even if you call one night 12 hours, I just don't believe it's possible. These days, you could just download a Bible on a tablet and start searching for keywords, but if I recall the internet was not that far advanced in those days.
  7. I have red hair (coppery, not orange) and green eyes and while I love it, I'm so jealous of those who don't have to worry about their outfit clashing with their hair lol. Olive green is my best color. I can pull off certain shades of red. But I prefer black over everything, even though I've been told it washes me out, and I have an orange cat that leaves his fur all over everything.
  8. I have heard Bill Engvall (who I find generally amusing outside of "Here's your sign" yawnfests) refer to his comedy shows as concerts. Other than that, I got nothing
  9. Rewatching Lost and Found and Jess convincing Rory that her bracelet had been in her room the whole time when he had had it....ew. Definite gaslighting.
  10. I think blondes can pull off pretty much anything! Although I do stand by not mixing orange and pink ;)
  11. I haven't read through all the replies yet, but I thought it would be fun to share some of my husband's thoughts (he has seen a handful of SATC episodes that I forced him to and the pilot for AJLT)(we're currently separated but because I cannot bear to cut him out of my life like my family wants, he has a key to my new place and sometimes he just shows up. So, last night I said "It's fine that you showed up, but I'm about to watch this so if you wanna hang you're watching it too") On The recap: How many episodes has this been spread over? WTF? On claiming a death as "worst breakup ever": Shut up, Carrie. On Teacher asking for consent before the kiss: That's nice of him. I don't think it's ALWAYS necessary depending on context, but it's nice. On seeing Seema: Hold on, is this chick supposed to be a replacement Samantha? On Miranda making fun of Carrie and Charlotte believing in heaven: I TOLD you Miranda was the biggest bitch! On Anthony "parenting" Rock: I have no idea who these people are, but that was awesome. During Carrie's lunch with Big's brother: Her shoes? She keeps her dead husband in a box by her shoes? (This triggered a pause and a sidebar of what we would do with one another's ashes if one of us died first, assuming we get back together). *then* It seems a little rude to refer to letting someone rest in the family crypt as "squeezing them in". About the they-Mitzvah clothes: WTF did they dress Charlotte and Miranda in? They're 55, not 95. About the they-Mitzvah in general: Let's have a party for just us, but with that candy bar. On Rock refusing to take part in their they-Mitzvah: Yeah, no. Sometimes you just do things for your parents to make them happy. Especially if they threw you an expensive party with an amazing candy bar. On Miranda and Carrie's fight and Miranda's decision to drop everything to follow Che: I TOLD YOU MIRANDA WAS THE BIGGEST BITCH! On Carrie's outfit on the bridge, after I commented that pink and orange should not be mixed: Also people with orange-ish skin shouldn't wear orange. Actually mostly only cats should wear orange. And finally, on the last text with Samantha: Isn't it kind of rude of them to continue the character of Samantha when the actress isn't participating? One of the reasons I can't let go is because he's so damn fun to snark with lol.
  12. I feel like for some reason leg shaving is more sexualized in people's minds than face shaving. I'm surprised my mom insisted on me shaving mine as early as she did given how hyper religious she was, but outward appearances and "fitting in" were important to her in some strange ways. Also, and sorry if this is TMI, but I had to get an emergency appendectomy the day after my 14th birthday (my GP called appendicitis right away and sent us to the ER, where the doctors kept trying to argue I was having a bad period), and the person who prepped me for surgery called my parents in to "warn" them that I was shaving my bikini area. And then asked me in front of them exactly why I did it. So freaking weird and not what I needed when I was in the worst pain of my life.
  13. In the 90s even! I remember a conversation with my dad after he found out I had tried to play it (try being an operative word-I had no idea how D&D actually worked so I was actually LARPing) that led to several spankings. So I totally buy Mary freaking out about it. But again, I’m shocked she had no comments about Georgie reading his horoscope. And a weird dichotomy (made obvious above, my parents were hyper religious), my mom actually forced me to start shaving my legs when I was 10. For some reason I was terrified and convinced I would slice up my legs like Missy did. I agree that the storyline was not self harm related, and it was nice to see sweet, doting MeeMaw again after her last few storylines focused on her less admirable qualities.
  14. I would imagine it was a mix of both. She objected to length before the mention of the school/finger test, and also insisted that she wear leggings under it even on the weekends Related to Mary’s religious conservatism, I couldn’t believe she didn’t scold Georgie for reading his horoscope. I feel like Mary would consider astrology satanic or witchcraft of some sort.
  15. I'm currently rewatching "To Whom it May Concern" (the episode where it is revealed that Jackson never got a vasectomy and Sookie is pregnant again), and it just occurred to me that Sookie and Jackson's fridge is kind of small and dingy. You would think a nice fridge would be something a chef like Sookie would insist on, even for her home.
  16. Miranda: "I didn't blame him or make him feel bad!" O rly? Cause that is not the conversation I saw. I'm compiling a list of the writers seemingly fighting back on criticisms of this show. This episode: Che claiming 'good guy' status by acting clueless that Miranda was not in an open marriage and saying they loved her. Addressing the criticism of Carrie's return to smoking by her saying she sticks to one a day and wears bandanas and gloves (some people in this very forum have discussed how her hair and hands must reek). Miranda talking about acting old Steve: We are old Miranda: We're 55. That's not old. Though Carrie usually annoys me by being a diva, in this episode she annoyed me by being apologetic for being reasonable. And I wish Charlotte had gone ahead with the talk with her daughter. She's 15. 15 year olds are usually thinking about sex in one way or another. She still needs to hear these things. But the brief talk she did have when she assured Lily that she wasn't shaming her was good.
  17. I could have sworn he already had a Spock costume in an earlier episode. One where he goes to a birthday party at the Sparks' and he and Billy played Star Trek in the chicken coop. I could just be remembering wrong though. I loved the debate TOS vs TNG. I prefer TOS over TNG (though, unpopular opinion, Voyager is my favorite), but Sheldon claiming that William Shatner is a better actor than Sir Patrick Stewart made me lol. Love that red makes Mary think of Satan. And Amway! As an aside, I was watching Gilmore Girls while reading this thread and who should pop up but a young Lance Barber! I immediately thought "Why is Sheldon's dad at Logan's party??"
  18. Heck. I started when I was 10, quit right before I turned 21 (awful time to quit by the way), and although I now find the smell disgusting, I still snuck one or two a year pre covid. I consider myself lucky to never have gotten fully ensnared again.
  19. You're not wrong. Plus we all change as we get older. I'm sure we've all done (and enjoyed) things we at one point swore we would never do.
  20. She said that Trey liked to do it, then when the topic of reciprocating came up, Carrie, Miranda, and Samantha all said they would never do it and Charlotte responded with "You wouldn't?" I just assumed that meant she had,
  21. There was a whole episode in one of the earlier seasons where it is mentioned that Charlotte doesn't "do that". She considered the guy marriage material but they broke up because she wouldn't give him oral. Then again, when she was married to Trey she mentioned that they enjoyed rimming each other, so maybe she got more casual about where she would put her mouth *shrug*
  22. In regards to the alcohol issue, I'm a bartender and I card everyone that looks under 30, to cover my ass. If they come in with people who are obviously older, I card the "older" people as well, so they don't feel old. If the older person comes in first and I don't card them and then are joined by a younger friend whom I then card, if they say "You didn't card me!!" (oh, it HAPPENS), I say "Hey, we dated in college, remember?" (Note: 95% of the time this gets the intended laugh. 5% of the time they spend the rest of the evening trying to remember me until I take pity and clue them in on the joke). Also, not excusing anything, but plenty of people were fine with Aria and Ezra on PLL (yes, the age difference wasn't as large, but the power imbalance was much larger), so I don't think this is one of the times to say "Oh, but if a MAN did it..."
  23. I haven't read all the replies yet (and I have some thoughts), but I wanted to chime in here. I'm a career bartender. I wash my hands constantly before and throughout my shift (even when grouchy old men bitch at me about "falling for covid propaganda"), as soon as I get home, and after doing anything involving dirty dishes and kitty litter (and obviously after using the restroom) . It honestly has never occurred to me to wash my hands before getting intimate with my husband. Before reading these forums I didn't know that was a thing! It does seem eerie that the writers seem to echo criticisms of the show in the writing. I want to touch on that more in a post once I've read all the replies, but I did notice last episode addressing KD's fillers, and this one addressing Che not washing her hands by having Steve wash his.
  24. I'm not done with the episode yet, but I had to come say that the sex scene with Nya and Dante was the first (IMHO) sexy sex scene of the series. Also, Charlotte bringing up how fillers aren't the end of the world felt tacked on after the criticism of KD's fillers.
  25. I JUST realized Zach is Terry from True Blood. I saw all of True Blood before I even started GG on Netflix and Terry was one of my favorite characters (though I did think he was the killer in season one). How did I just notice???? Also, mind blowing that there was only a year of seperarion before immature Zach became world weary Terry. Dang.
