  1. Aside from him getting a long sentence this is the best news today. We all know she had every intention of surpassing the 19 kids count.
  2. IS that what he did? Jeeze. I'm going to start a GFM to raise money for Ukrainian relief. I bet I get nominated for a Nobel Peace Prize.
  3. Would someone even be on trial if this was actually true?
  4. Another example of how little control his defense lawyers have on his behavior? I mean seriously, would any lawyer suggest that yukking it up as you are about to be sentenced for child sex abuse is a good idea?? He's just so fracking selfish.
  5. I didn't think we'd know 5 minutes in but I really thought we'd know by now!
  6. While I have no sympathy for Smuggar I do have to say sitting through this knowing at the end, no matter what, you are only waiting to find out how long you are going to prison must be hell. I'd rather just be told right off the bat.
  7. Here's hoping it works out as well for Smuggar as that letter did for Nassar. About this last minute letter - wouldn't the judge have already made his decision about the sentence at this point? Today is him letting Smuggar know isn't it? Not him giving Smuggar a last chance at mitigation?
  8. I hope the judge sees this for what it is - not just unlikely to be true- but a further indicator that the people surrounding Smuggar have no concept of the seriousness of his crime and will continue to shield him from any consequences or accountability down the road when he is released.
  9. Either that or she's medicated. The ironic thing is that probably of all the siblings Josh got the most attention from his parents. Not exactly a testimonial to how well they would have parented even with far less children.
  10. Thank god the site is back up and fingers crossed it stays up tomorrow! I need closure.
  11. Please tell me there will be at least some camera footage in the courtroom tomorrow! I feel bad saying this but I really want to see Smuggar's face when he is sentenced. Because honestly part of me still thinks he believes he's going to get a last minute reprieve and will be walking out a free man.
  12. @shapeshifter I really hope the reason for this cliffhanger isn't to impoverish MeeMaw in some way. If so they are really heading into Roseanne/The Conners territory where not only does nothing ever work out but bad stuff gets piled onto more bad stuff.
  13. Based on what everyone is saying I have decided to be happy with any sentence that guarantees Smuggar sits in prison for the full 5 years. Anything longer than that will be cake.
  14. If this is actually the case how typically Josh Duggar of him. He can't do anything right. Thankfully.
  15. I finally watched this episode tonight and I have to say....deep surprised breath...I actually liked it. Quite a bit. The dream sequence, the President and Dr Linklater talking about their lost youth, Penn and Teller, Connie singing Ring of Fire. Loved all that. I even liked the interactions between Mary and George. It was very real and while I wanted to give George a kick in the pants once or twice his feelings about losing his job were poignant and I bought it. For the win though for me was the way Mary kept the family going, did her best with George and went out there and got herself a job.
  16. The only excuse I can offer is that perhaps they assumed as the wedding is for your child that you had already made plans that you would not have wanted to change? That said I totally get what you are feeling right now and if it were me I'd be a lot more openly upset. To the point where I'd definitely be asking them point blank "Hello? When did I get voted out of the family?" and depending on the answer I'd be asking my kid to make some changes to the wedding guest list.
  17. Absolutely agree that under the circumstances Mary probably would be more amenable to moving for a good job offer for George. However, in a way him losing a second football coaching job might make her less likely to want to take a chance on a move for a job that seems to be less than guaranteed.
  18. He's also a bully who has always been able to push others around. But only those who can't fight back. For at least 5 years he's not going to be surrounded by girls and women who have to take his crap. He's in for a rough ride. Good.
  19. Depp's severed finger story has flaws What I found most interesting in this article was a little highlight on the kinds of people who are attending this trial supporting Depp: Wow.
  20. I admit I am enjoying the idea that Smuggar must be hoping that he only gets 5 years. Like everyone posting here I sincerely hope he gets more than that but even 5 years in a federal pen is pretty awful to contemplate. He can't be getting much sleep right now.
  21. I'm sure the writers would come up with some reason for Mary to say she won't move but I don't know if it would be that - she and Connie seem to have a lot of conflict right now. Mainly revolving around Connie getting Georgie involved in her illegal gambling - and it's not helping that Connie seems to be choosing supporting Mandy over rooting for Georgie to convince her to marry him,
  22. They cherrypick through the bible looking only for what will back up their convictions. For some they are smart enough to do this deliberately. For others it's like a dim student reading a Shakespearean play and wildly guessing wrong on what it means.
  23. Must be nice. I remember back in school someone challenging one of our religion teachers about this - the idea being that as a Catholic if you repent you are forgiven. So essentially as someone upthread noted a "get out of hell free" card. As I recall the teacher pointed out (a) it's genuine repentance and sin no more -so no you don't get to knock off banks endlessly and keep saying "sorry god my bad", but most importantly (B) whatever happens in the afterlife you commit the crime on earth, you do the time on earth. This aspect of things also seems to have eluded people like the Duggars. Which is a big reason so many of us rejoiced at this trial. Not just because a bad guy was getting his comeuppance but because people like JB finally got schooled - no you actually do not rule the world.
  24. I will be less than impressed if they pull this stunt on us viewers twice. Anyone who knows the end game for George knows they will not be relocating so setting up these scenarios is a way to underline how Mean Mary makes George sad and unhappy. Correct this - not only will I be less than impressed if they do this again, I will seriously pissed off.
